Medal Tournament - Tran vs Shingo

Description: Shingo /brutalizes/ Tran for Tran's last medal. It's uglier than it looks, trust me.

Such a merry place, the amusement park. Fun and entertainment to be had by all! Well, mostly all, anyway. There's at least one doctor here who isn't having a very good time. If you were to look at his face, you might be able to pretty easily figure out why. It's black, it's blue, it's bruised, and it sort of looks like it got hit by not one, but two trucks, in quick succession, no less.
Yes, Tran's been getting the shit beaten out of him on a regular basis in the past day or two, and he's showing it. Mistakes were made that will hopefully never ever be made again. But probably will in less than a week. Such is life.
In any case, Tran is sitting on a bench, moping with his only real friend in the entire world, a huge bag of cotton candy. The shiny medal sparkling on his coat says it's his friend, but so far it's only gotten him beaten up repeatedly, so it doesn't really count.

This is Shingo's second time this week to the local amusement park that serves as one of Southtown's many tourist attractions. Why is he here for a return visit so soon then? Frankly, he's not sure himself. It's not as though he planned on actually coming back to the park today. It just happened. Must've be something in his subconscious telling him that he should be here today and now. This is what happens when he drifts into a daydream when out jogging to stay in shape and fit to impress the ladies. Not that there are any ladies for him to impress.

The youthful fighter makes his way through the crowd of peoples that mull about the attraction going from ride to stall to food to restroom. He figures that since he's here already, might as well take a look around and see if there's anyone else that he might know about. As with before, the light from all around is reflected back by the medal on his shirt.

Morosely eating his cotton candy, Tran almost misses the subtle difference of pretty lights reflected off of a medal as opposed to normal pretty lights. His attention reflexively goes to it, and he chucks his cotton candy to the side, leaping to his feet and striding at Shingo before he even knows what he's doing. Before he can help himself, he's already shouted, "You! You've got a medal! I cha...cha...uh..."
He pauses here, already wondering if this is a good idea. After all, considering how things have been going lately...well, this could be a supremely bad idea. He pauses to consider this, unsure of whether he wants to go down this pathway just yet. Deep thinking reigns for quite some time.

Shingo on the other hand takes a step back when Tran suddenly leaps out at him and almost blindsides him. The boy shows signs of bewilderment as it is not very often adults jump out at him shouting for seemingly no apparent reason. The confused state of the Taiyo student is short-lived when Tran's words are finally registered by his brain. He said something about a medal. Shingo grins at the shorter man (way shorter) and proudly holds out his shirt for a moment to display his own medal, "Yes, sir! I sure do!" Obviously the last fumbled part of Tran's statement didn't quite hit home with the boy as yet. Or did it? Shingo tilts his head to the side with a wide, friendly grin, "Did you want to wager medals on a fight, mister?"

Oh...to hell with it. Meeting another medal person here has to be some kind of a sign, right? Right. Of course it is. And since Tran's body seems to have beaten his mind to the punch this time, well. He can't exactly back out at this point. Backing out is for cowards and people who aren't nearly as awesome as Tran is.
So it's with a slightly resigned tone his voice that Dr. Tran answers. "Yes, yes I guess that I do, kid. I've only got the one left, so why the hell not?" He takes a step back so that his body is sideways, then points out a finger, trying to get into the spirit of things. "Prepare yourself, whoever you are, because I'm clearly a man on the edge!"

COMBATSYS: Tran has started a fight here.

COMBATSYS: Shingo has joined the fight here.

COMBATSYS: Tran focuses on his next action.

One left, eh? What another stroke of coincidence. Not only is this the second time he has had a street fight at Dream Amusement Park but this is also the second face-off he's had against someone with only one medal left. It must truly be a sign. Whether that sign says 'Stop' or 'Slow Children' is up for debate. Shingo nods to the good doctor and grins, "All right!" He also takes a step back and raises his fists into his fighting stance. The blueness of his gloves is unmistakeable. "I am Shingo Yabuki, by the way. Student of the ancient arts of Kusanagi-ryuu!" He doesn't ask for Tran's name, since he considers it slightly rude to ask the name of an adult. If the secret agent wants to tell him, then so be it.

It's almost as though people in this town have a sixth sense when it comes to fighting. They've already cleared the area for the medal match. And even people who weren't even present when the challenge was issued know better than to cross into the area. The Kanzuki secret ninja camera crew are already in place and have begun recording the action that's about to begin. First up, Shingo Yabuki and his forward hop at Tran. He grabs a hold of the man's shirt and drags him forward closer only to next smack him away with a very hard shoulder to just under his chest, "Oriyaaaa!"

COMBATSYS: Tran blocks Shingo's Hatsugane.

Tran             0/-------/----===|=------\-------\0           Shingo

As the ancient saying goes, 'The shirt is grabbed, but the shoulder is defended against.' Sure, that's not an actual ancient saying, or a saying at all for that matter, but it sure is relevant! When Shingo drags Tran forward, it's all the man can do to keep himself from getting knocked flat on his back. As things stand, he's barely able to interpose his arms, and it's not a very good solution, sending him stumbling backward awkwardly.
Bad start so far, okay, Tran can cope with that. He'll just have to go ahead and step things up, really nail Shingo hard in return! Not moving closer, Tran grins. "Face the wrath of a real American hero! Hah!" Chopping the air in front of him twice, twin boomerangs, formed entirely of steam, come rushing out at Shingo, curving toward him from opposite sides.

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Tran's Real American Hero Cutter.

Tran             0/-------/----===|=------\-------\0           Shingo

How exactly does steam manage to cut through the air the way that it does from the Hero Cutter is a wonder to Shingo. What is steam but the gaseous form of a liquid, most of the time water. A gas cutting through a mixture of gases would be enough to make his brain hurt. If he didn't know what chi manipulation was all about. Fortunately for him and his brain, he does. Just like how it's very fortunate that he suddenly learns how to get the hell out of the way. "No thanks, mister! That looks like it might hurt!" Ok fine, all he does is jump really high up to clear the double boomerangs closing in on him. If they are boomerangs though, does that mean they're going to fly back and hit the caster? Hrm. There's a thought.

Another thought would be 'What am I going to do now?'. Sure the end result is hopefully hitting Tran hard, but what will be the execution of it? Oh, he knows. As he is already in the air and moving forward...why not just jump kick him? Brilliant. Shingo thinks he will do this. He sticks out his leg and hopes that his downward-forward momentum adds in to his weight to make this count.

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Tran with Medium Kick.

Tran             1/-------/=======|=------\-------\0           Shingo

And yes, yes it counts very hard indeed. Tran, unable to duck out of the way in time, take it hard in the face, adding to the already impressive collection of bruises. Knocked off his feet by the force, Tran gets up as he quickly as he can manage, slightly woozy now, and then just goes for it, not even able to think of some witty or at least insulting thing to say.
So instead he just shouts, "HAH!" Of course, shouting without an attack is worthless, so he also takes a step forward toward Shingo, and then drops to one knee. Placing a hand on the ground, steam wells up for a moment and the explodes up and forward toward Shingo.

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Tran's Dr. Tran Doles Out the Harshness.

[               \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////////////////// ]
Tran             1/-------/=======|=------\-------\0           Shingo

The momentary delay from the steam building up right before it rushes at Shingo would be the downfall of the Harshness. It might just be that way for the highschooler though. The distinct difference in skill level becoming very apparent to him. Well, either there's a difference in skill or Tran is just having a bad day. Because for a repeat performance, Shingo evades the attack. Something that is uncharacteristic for him. Even if ducks and rolls to come up a short distance away on Tran's side. Popping up on his feet he then charges with a loud cry of...

"SHINGO KIIIIIICKU!" If shouting the name of an attack is worthless then it would mean that the boy's signature technique will have no effect on Tran at all, right? This is not exactly a true test of that theory but it's a test nonetheless. And something worth doing on gathering information. Not to mention gathering pain from a kick to the side of the head.

COMBATSYS: Tran dodges Shingo's Shingo Kick.

[               \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////////////  ]
Tran             1/-------/=======|==-----\-------\0           Shingo

Well, damn. Another attack...missed entirely. It's a pity and a shame! Even if it's not, y'know, entirely unexpected, either. Either way, it can probably be attributed to both the chunky difference in skill, AND an unlucky week or so for Tran. But don't despair, Tran! Fight on!
And hey, this is sort of lucky, as Tran barely dodges to the side of Shingo's foot. Seriously, it ruffles his hair a little in passing. That's /close/. But still not a hit, luckily for Tran. Of course, that leaves Tran with a need to counterattack in a big way, and what better way to do that than with a garbage can? Moving off to the side, picking up a nice big garbage can full of garbage for the second time today, and it's no easy feat, either, Tran charges forward, screaming his attack name at Shingo. "GARBAGE CAAAAAAAN!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Tran's Random Weapon.

[               \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////////////  ]
Tran             1/-------/=======|==-----\-------\0           Shingo

Ok. So clearly it is proven on two occasions that shouting out an attack name immediately before performing said attack is totally and utterly worthless in hitting someone with said attack. Because come on, Shingo shouting out 'SHINGO KIIIIIICKU!' and missing followed by Tran shouting out 'GARBAGE CAAAAAAAAN!' and having Shingo sprint in under and past it as well has got to serve as proof. If it doesn't, then somebody needs to get beaten up. Someone other than Tran at the moment anyways.

Now as previously remarked in an earliers statement, Shingo evades the garbage can bashing by giving himself a burst of speed and ducking in past the metal object into Tran's guard. What was left unsaid up until now was that Shingo steps to Tran's right and tucks his head under the shorter fighter's arm while his right hand reaches across the American's chest to grab the left side of his neck. Next comes the lift that drastically elevates Tran off the ground and still moving, Shingo falls forwards to drive the back of the super-secret agent into the ground. Hard. On-lookers familiar with wrestling techniques may recognize this as a side slam or as a certain former popular wrestler prefers to call his version of it, the Rock Bottom. "YAH!!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Tran with Strong Throw.

Tran             1/-======/=======|===----\-------\0           Shingo

He...evaded the trash can!? Even after Tran shouted out 'GARBAGE CAN' at the top of his lungs? That's impossible! Impossible, I say! Tran's not really surprised, though. That thing's heavy, and it was really awkward actually trying to hit someone with it.
Mind, that still leaves the matter of Shingo grabbing him and pretty much annihilating him with a fancy-pants wrasslin' move. The details are totally lost on Tran, who's never really had an eye for this sort of thing. It's also sort of hard to pay attention when it's happening to you very, very hard. Afterward, in true wrestling fashion, Tran rolls around for a minute, groaning in pain, before finally climbing up to his feet. "Alright! This is it! Time for my dramatic comeback!"
That proclimation made, Tran...doesn't actually do anything. He's just standing there, waiting for Mr. Shingo to make his move.

COMBATSYS: Tran focuses on his next action.

Tran             1/-======/=======|===----\-------\0           Shingo

Should Shingo be worried by Tran's declaration? He should be! Nevermind that he hasn't taken a hit thus far for the entire match and Tran is a little less successful at not taking damage. But Shingo has long sense realised that it's never good to underestimate one's opponent. They just might surprise the hell out of you. Which is precisely the reason Shingo doesn't wait around to see what. He seems to be doing an awfully lot of rushing in lately against his opponents. But that's mostly because he's a rushing type of fighter. "Really? Then I better not waste any time!" Shingo does the sprinting forward in a quick dash thing and gets up as close as he can to Tran's face to just let go with a flurry of quick and swift punch combinations. The good ol' one-two? Nah, try more like the good ol' one-three. The last hit being a strike to the gut while the first two are quick jabs to the face.

COMBATSYS: Tran interrupts Jab Punch from Shingo with Oh Crap Its Dr. Tran.
-* CRITICAL HIT! *-

[                          \\\\  < >  ///////////////////////       ]
Tran             0/-------/-======|======-\-------\0           Shingo

Tran warned Shingo! He warned him, man! He was all 'dramatic comeback is now' but Shingo didn't listen! Shingo should've just run right there, and now see what's happened. Tran starts building chi when Shingo starts sprinting at him, and just when Shingo's first punch hits home, he just releases it all.
Foom. Dr. Tran pretty much releases a horizantal bar of steam. It's hot, it's so high-pressure as to put a firehose to shame, and most importantly it's right in Shingo's face. BWOOM.
Still, that sort of effort is draining, and Tran is, well. Ahem. He's 'running out of steam' pretty quickly here. So he just stands there, panting.

Yeah, he did get warned. Shingo should've listened and ran. But that's not his style. In a fight he doesn't hold back or run away. That one time he got kicked out the emergency exit of an electronics store doesn't count as running away. It was a strategic retreat. Anyone would do the same if they were in the same position after duking it out with Vega. But, digressing. Shingo is stunned. Really stunned when he thinks he's about to give Tran his fast combination, the fastest he can do, and then suddenly... *FSSSSSSSST* Steam everywhere! Blinding him and heating up his face. This wouldn't be a problem if he were in a steam room to open his pores and cleanse his face. Shingo hops back wiping his face frantically to avoid any serious damage from the heat. His vision is still blurred though. "AUGHHHHHH!!!" No matter. All he needs is one lucky punch and this will be all over from what he wagers.

Holding his face for a second for the immediate pain to go away, Shingo looks up to Tran with a bright red face. He's not angry or anything. It's a fight. It's expected that he'll take some form of damage. Instead he grins at the 'doctor'. "Ok. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea." Gee, he thinks? "But maybe this is! KURAE!" Shingo pivots clockwise on his left foot to spin around with a large and deep lunge inward at Dr. Tran. A huge left hook accompanying the movement and the loud battle shout. A huge left hook that looks very intent on clobbering Tran's face.

COMBATSYS: Tran dodges Shingo's Dokugami Mikansei.

Tran             0/-------/-======|====---\-------\0           Shingo

Holy monkey spittle but Shingo is moving fast. Certainly faster than the people Tran is used to dealing with on a regular basis. Miraculously, however, given his battered and bruised state, Tran gets the hell out of the way of Shingo's Huge Left Hook. Shingo's not a pirate anymore, so clearly his hook doesn't even exist, as a matter of fact!
Ahem. Anyway, Tran backpedals like whoa, the fist barely breezing by his face once again. Jeez, but that looks like it would hurt, and that means Tran...well, frankly, Tran's a little bit worried. He knows he can't take much more abuse (read - any at all, at least not from someone who hits like Shingo), and he also knows it may very well only be a matter of time until he goes down, hard. Of course, in the meatime...he can always just make Shingo work for this one, and feel the heat!
Nevermind Shingo probably has a heat resistance already. It doesn't matter! Tran's soul still burns! And his steam does, too, as he goes down to one knee and launches another geyser up, hopefully in Shingo's face.

COMBATSYS: Shingo endures Tran's Dr. Tran Doles Out the Harshness.

Tran             0/-------/=======|======-\-------\0           Shingo

Well the spout of steam doesn't catch Shingo exactly in the face. He's had enough of scalding to last him the rest of the week. Plus if his face got too badly messed then would his girlfriend still want to make out with him? As a teenager in his prime, Shingo would rather not take that chance! So as he literally charges into and through the steam pillar he shields his face with his arms as best he can and emerges forth to scare the beejeezus out of Tran. His clothes miraculously no longer wrinkled! Can't say the same for Tran's as the boy handles the man roughly with some more yanking of him off the ground and forward into an awaiting shoulder. A shoulder that is diagonally upward to batter Tran around in the air like a beach ball of some kind. Since, you know, Shingo yanked him up and forward. It's like combining a grab and his Oniyaki Mikansei into one! Should feel like it too.

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Tran with Hatsugane.

Tran             2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|=======\-------\1           Shingo

Oh shi- the instant Tran sees Shingo barreling through the steam, he knows he's in trouble. He also knows there's no way in hell he'll get out of the way in time, but he tries anyway. Miserable failure!
When Shingo grabs him, Shingo grabs him good, and when Shingo shoulder rams him, there is a distinct snapping of ribs. A few of them, in fact. It sounds sort of horrible, and it feels ever worse. For a moment, all the air is gone from Tran's lungs, and it's all he can do not to black-out on the spot. It hurts...so bad. So very, very bad.
Still, through some minor miracle, he manages to stay concious, even after he lands back on the ground. Oh, it all hurts so bad. Even so, he manages to crawl up onto his hands and knees, and then surge forward at Shingo, fist upraised and partially obscured by the steam whirling around it, thicker than London fog. He's trying for a DKO! Hahahaha! As if! Afterward he's going out like a light for a long, long time.

COMBATSYS: Tran can no longer fight.

COMBATSYS: Shingo counters Here Comes Dr. Tran! from Tran with Tsuki Hiji.

Shingo           1/------=/=======|

Not without some extra assistance from Shingo he won't! Be passing out, that is. Especially if Dr. Tran decides that he's going to give it all he's got and throw a steam-wrapped fist of secret agent-ness at him for one last huzzah attempt at the boy. The fist is stopped cold by one of Shingo's two elbows. An elbow that gets lightly scalded by how much steam there just is encircling the fist. It's only light because, well, because of the lightning fast kick that almost simultaneously shoots out to nail Tran in his already bruised and battered rib cage to send him either stumbling, reeling, or flying backwards. "GECCHU!" Effectively it all boils down to Shingo taking an insignificant amount of pain to almost but not quite breaking Tran in two. An even trade for a medal don't you think?

Shingo takes a deep breath and casts a clenched fist into the air, "I...did it!" Mostly for the audience and cameras. He then walks over to check on his worthy opponent and see if really did hurt the man that badly. That and to see if he's conscious enough to hand over his medal like a good fighter.

COMBATSYS: Shingo has ended the fight here.

Concious? Hahaha! That's a good one. Hell, after today, Tran is going to need to be the in the hospital for a day or two. So yes, yes Shingo did hurt Tran that badly. He's still breathing, though, and that's a good sign, even if it's sort of faint. Hell, you might not even be able to tell if it weren't for the tiny bubbles of blood forming on his lips. So to recap: yes, Tran's ass is kicked hella hard. He ain't doing anything for quite some time.

Uh, oops? Shingo quickly calls out for the Kanzuki ninja medical staff on hand to come over and take care of Tran. They were holding back since they didn't want to wander into some sort of clever ploy laid out by Dr. Tran in order to ambush Shingo. If he was intending to do so he would've done it already. And since Tran is busy sleeping off the hurting, Shingo will help himself to the man's very last medal. Holding it up before the closed eyes of Tran, he says, "Thanks for the fight and the medal, mister. Sorry if I hit you too hard. Sometimes I just don't know my own strength." He then stands, since he was crouching over Tran before, and lets the medics take care of things from here as he wanders off into the crowd.
