Medal Tournament - Dan vs Shingo

Description: Medal match of the day at the Hibiki Dojo! (Winner: Shingo)

Hibiki Dojo, another day, another studentless collection of hours. However today perhaps Dan has a great plan to bring in some sort of business into the Dojo, starting with the flyers posted outside the door, posterized Kanzuki Corporation Medals in the center of them, and the bright bold words 'MEDAL CHALLENGE INSIDE' atop them. Surely Dan knows that the best way to get a fight going is to give the public what they want, and everyone seems concerned over these medals.
That includes him, he holds one in his palm looking at it wistfully, as if he were wishing for more. He in fact is wishing for more, he's got to start winning or he's going to be eliminated like the rest of them, "Well. Two more chances to lay it on the line and start taking back my claim to fame."

Shingo was merely walking home from school one afternoon when he happened upon the Hibiki Dojo as he often tends to do whenever making taking this particular path homeward. This time, unlike others, a notice garners his attention. Could it be one of the many fliers for tutelage from the mighty Dan Hibiki? Of course(!)...not. That would be incredibly silly and uncharacteristic for shingo to do. Come on, this is the kid that gave up his lunch to learn from some jerk of a fighter who could shoot flame from his fingertips. No, the notice that catches his attention is the one proclaiming 'MEDAL CHALLENGE INSIDE'. And since he thinks he's a little behind the top players in this tournament, one more medal couldn't hurt, right? That and he's still riding on the excitement from defeating Charlie the night before. Shingo steps into the dojo...

"Hello? Mister Hibiki? Are you home?" At first Shingo doesn't spot the man when he calls out, obviously. Or else he wouldn't have...called out like that. "Ah, Mister Hibiki! There you are! I was wandering by outside and saw your sign." He pauses and looks the man over. "That is if this isn't a bad time or anything." Shingo grins widely.

Dan blinks up from looking at his medal and quickly pins it back to his Gi, "What, you mean the sign about a coupon for ice-cream with every tenth lesson? That one, you've changed your mind about joining Saikyo Dojo?" His smile widens, of course, because Shingo never exactly said which sign. His muscular left arm comes up into the air with his fist perpindicular to his wrist, before the thumb springs up, "AWESOME!"
The confused sensei grins, "So can I be sure you'll sign up for the ten lessons? Because you know, you kids can't get any free ice cream without ten lessons. It's the rules."

Well, umm...uh...no." Shingo says flatly. He was looking for a way to make it not sound so...definite, but he figured that Dan is a grown man. He can take it. "I meant the other sign." There's a pause here, automatically thinking that Dan would know what the other sign was. Leaving him free to jump another inaccurate conclusion if need be. In which case Shingo would just come right out and say it. "The one for the medal challenge inside." And even if Dan doesn't jump to conclusions again he still says it to be clear. "I mean, the free ice cream with the ten lessons is cool and all. But I still haven't completed my Kusanagi-ryuu training, so. Uh yeah." Shingo scratches his head a bit sheepishly and grins a nervous grin at Dan.

Dan blinks and his grin fades, before he sas, "Oh, so you're in the Medal tournament, are you?" He crosses his arms quickly, "Coming around here for a medal. You think you'll win? I'm not going to hold back like I did last time. Whatever friendly banter goes on outside of this tournament is not an indication that I'll make it easy for you. Are you sure you're ready to challenge the ultimate power of Saikyo Ryuu, for a little gold pin," his question hovers in the air momentarily before he points at Shingo, "Because your fighting spirit isn't going to help you today. You're going to lose that medal that you have, and then you're going to run and get me some lunch. So are you fully prepared for the consequences of your actions?"

"..."

Shingo is speechless. Has he been awed by the display of fearsome might and the aura of fighting spirit radiating off of the master of Saikyo-ryuu? Has he been struck with fear in that there is a strong possibility of him actually losing the same medal he earned last night from Charlie rigth here and now? Is he no longer certain on what the outcome of this fight will be?

Naaah. He just didn't know how to respond to Dan's declarations. Especially that last part. Then he's going to run and get him some lunch? Who does this guy think he is? Kyo Kusanagi? Pfft. Though if Dan asked nicely then Shingo would have no problems picking up the sensei some lunch. For now? Shingo nods to Dan and then displays the back of his black-gloved fist proudly, "I, Shingo Yabuki, Kyo Kusanagi's best student challenge you!" Guess he is fully prepared for the consequences of his actions.

COMBATSYS: Shingo has started a fight here.

The master of all things Saikyo slides into his fighting stance, as if it were second nature. His grin coming back as he bounces on the balls of his feet, twisting his hips back and forth to put a different leg forward in place each time. The pink fabric of his pants making swooshing sounds with each motion before his index finger points directly at Shingo,
"Just to be nice, I'm going to let you make the first move. Because once the tide of Saikyo starts flowing over you, you'll be overwhelmed with it. I can't even begin to understand how you think you're going to win against me in a fight that actually matters. But its your funeral. So let's get it on!"

COMBATSYS: Dan has joined the fight here.

"All right!" Shingo grins to the graciousness of Dan to allow him to start the match off first. How kind of him. And Shingo isn't going to decline such hospitality just to be nice himself. He still has to get home and get started on his homework so doesn't have the time to dilly-dally on pleasantries. He either has to beat Dan really fast or get beaten himself really fast or else he will be forced to face a new challenger super secret last boss. His mom.

And to start things off today is none other than his famous, "SHINGO KIIIIIIICKU!" Once it looks like both of them are ready to really fight, Shingo leaps forward at Dan without wasting a thought and swings his leg around to bring it down to the side of the man's head as he has done on many opponents before. Of course, this doesn't mean to say that he successfully hit all of them. But still. He's aiming for the head here.

COMBATSYS: Dan blocks Shingo's Shingo Kick.

With a quick '

(TAKE 2!) With a quick 'whoosh' at his Gi's ripped shoulders, Dan Hibiki brings up his arm and blocks the incoming leg, before his hand twists around quickly and tries to grab Shingo's ankle. Of course if he manages to do this, he's going to try and toss Shingo clear across the Dojo, he really isn't holding back this time, and his face is stern and serious. A far cry from the goofy Hibikisms of past fights. It's all business today, plus, he's pretty hungry, and wants that lunch.

COMBATSYS: Shingo counters Quick Throw from Dan with Tsuki Hiji.

Sure Dan grabs Shingo's ankle. It's not that hard to do for someone that was prepared to block the Shingo Kick. The boy puts so much force into swinging his leg around that it requires a lot of effort to reverse the direction. So getting grabbed is not something really expected, but he knows it can happen. What doesn't happen, however, is the schoolboy getting flung to the other side of the dojo. With his leg being held by Dan, Shingo basically uses the man like someone would use a crutch. As a third support. To bring his other leg around to Dan's gut. The time he needed for this gained from the delay in between being blocked and then grabbed. "GECCHU!" The kick is to serve as something either powerful enough or shocking enough to get Dan to let go and allow Shingo to back up a few steps to recover.

Dan grunts as his gut is kicked, looking towards it before his eyes turn back Shingo-wards. His stance flowing naturally back like water as he hops towards Shingo, trying his damnedest to keep close to the boy.
As he runs forward for what looks like a full frontal assault, he veers to the left side of Shingo's body, and while running forward throws his hand out, a cyan glow already forming around it, before he calls out "GADOUKEN!" and releases the tiny fireball towards Shingo's shoulder.

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Dan's Gadouken.

Shingo knows this next technique coming in from Dan well enough. He encountered it the last time they fought. He doesn't quite remember if it hit him then or not but he sure isn't taking the chance this time around. It's not as fearsome as a hadouken but still, why risk it, right? Though it has very limited range, Shingo somehow manages to duck under it and dash straight at Dan under his outstretched arm. Normally he would throw out a punch to hit the man in his stomach again but the boy has something else up his sleeve.

"SHINGO SLIDAAAAAAAA!" The Kusanagi-ryuu fighter drops his body down to the floor as he extends a leg outward to kick at Dan's shins. There's a very short space of distance between the two so hopefully the force from the kick is enough to hurl Dan overhead while Shingo continues sliding below. Only stopping and standing back up after covering a metre in distance. Give or take.

COMBATSYS: Dan fails to interrupt Medium Kick from Shingo with Kyuukyoku Tenchi Gadou Zuki.

Dan              1/------=/=======|=------\-------\0           Shingo

Dan puts his fist out, oddly and tries to punch Shingo in the incoming kick. Bending his body down uncomfortably, and in fact getting kicked in the midsection, and knocked a bit across the room, slamming into the trophy stand (Again, judging from the duct-tape all over it.)
This sends the legs of the trophy stand into the air, and causes a couple of them to fall down on Dan's forehead, as he's getting up, building new almost imperceptible bruises on the Saikyo Master's head. "Agh."

Wincing at the damage he seems to be causing to the other figther's dojo, Shingo eyes the currently prone man and considers. Push on with the advantage he currently has or give the man some respite to regain his composure? Shingo opts for the latter. After all, Dan afforded him the same in their match before this one. And Shingo is just as nice a guy as he is. So he does just that. He waits for Dan to show that he is ready to continue. No words are uttered from the young man's lips and he keeps his eyes locked on the pink-gi clad martial artist. Watching and waiting.

COMBATSYS: Shingo focuses on his next action.

Dan              1/------=/=======|=------\-------\0           Shingo

Dan's eyes blink out of order before he focuses on Shingo and slides back into his fighting stance. His eyes shoot down to the tatami mats, before they shoot back up to Shingo and he grins, sending his foot down hard at the mat, causing one of the broken trophy stand legs to pop into the air, and WHIZ Towards Shingo, "SAIKYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Dan's Large Thrown Object.

Dan              1/------=/=======|=------\-------\0           Shingo

Would this be the same trophy that Shingo leans back out of the way of and plucks it out of the air before it can even hope to do any real damage to him? That is if inanimate objects could hope for anything. That statement should probably chance to before Dan can even hope for it to do any real damage to the boy. Shingo grins back at his opponent as he holds the trophy in one hand. "Oooh, Mister Hibiki. Throwing around your trophies like that...someone is likely to get hurt!"

Shingo pivots around on one leg and whips his upperbody around to serve as a form of launcher for the object in his hand. Snapping back around, he releases and sends the trophy flying back towards its owner. But Shingo doesn't wait to see if it hits the man or not. Nope. He's already dashing in behind it for an immediate follow-up attack depending on Dan's reaction.

Dan grins as he twists his body around the incoming attack, before rushing forwards, "Just trying to see if you're on your toes, Shingo. I know you're in no real danger." As he rushes forwards, his hand again glows Cyan, and this time the Gadouken is aimed dead center towards Shingo.
It leaves the sensei's hands with his trademarked cry, and putt putts forwards, leaving little circular trails behind it, as it makes its way towards the intended target. Go Dan, Go!

COMBATSYS: Shingo interrupts Gadouken from Dan with Aragami Mikansei.
- Power hit! -

Dan              1/---====/=======|====---\-------\0           Shingo

So essentially it comes down to both fighters charging at each other, headfirst. Given that Shingo was running a little distance behind the hurled trophy and Dan started moving as she dodged previously mentioned trophy. Only real difference between the two is that Dan has a glow of energy forming in his hands. A glow that soon leaves his grasp and, for lack of a better term, putts along the rest of the distance that Shingo is closing rapidly. And it doesn't seem that he's going to be slowing down anytime soon.

"Your body is..." Shingo pulls his right arm back, ready to deliver a not quite powerful but close hook punch to the side of Dan's head. The only 'problem' with that is that there's still a Gadouken seperating the two of them. What is Shingo going to do? Get out of the way again? Hecks no! You want to know what he does? He -PUNCHES- right through that sucker! Literally. His cocked back fist exploding forward and intercepting the Gadouken directly through the centre point. The waves of chi that encompass the projectile wrapping themselves around Shingo's gloved fist as they serve as resistance against the foreign object that pierces through it, but to no avail. Instead they cling to the black glove as it homes in directly to Dan's face.

Now Shingo's Aragami Mikansei can be loosly translated into Incomplete or Unfinished Wicked Chew. This is because a true Aragami as performed by Kyo is accompanied by the flames of Kusanagi heritage. Shingo, not being of the family, obviously does not have this ability. Yet, one could swear that the energy of Dan's Gadouken dancing over the boy's glove looks very much like blue flames that are about to engulf the unfortunate Saikyo-ryuu sensei. The last words of Shingo's statement are clearly heard. "...WIDE OPEN!"

Dan dances backwards as his face is punched by Shingo's fist, oddly enough. The Saikyo master staggering backwards before he winces his eyes shut once then opens them back up. His eyebrows lowering, and both eyes narrowing tightly towards Shingo.
His hand goes into the left side of his Gi, fumbling around for something, before he grabs it, and pulls it out. It's his ultimate posession. The prized heirloom passed down to him by a clerk at a corner store for seventy nine cents...plus tax. (He was in Iowa at the time.)
Yes, the famed Hibiki Sharpie. Signer of a thousand autographs, inspirer to millions. The true raw essence of Saikyo-Ryuu contained within its inky goodness. Pulling it back behind his hip, he wings it quickly towards Shingo's knees, causing it to spin wildly as it travels towards its destination. A new Techqniue has been invented by the Saikyo Master today. "UNTORTURED SOUL OF SAIKYO RYUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

COMBATSYS: Dan successfully hits Shingo with Thrown Object.

"Un...tortured soul..." *TINK* Shingo stares in disbelief at Dan shouting out his new technique and shrugging off what th boy thought was a particularly badass move on his part. Then again, he would think that. Silly boy. He then stares in disbelief again when the autograph spins through the air and a corner edge pokes him. Not in the eye. But awfully close on his cheek. Though it would be pretty funny if he did get poked in the eye. "Ow!" Shingo holds his face where he was poked and the autograph drops to the ground.

"Okay, now that was something new." Shingo blinkblinks. Not for too long. Remember. Can't be wasting time. Shingo surges forward again at Dan. Previously he always came in with a strike of some sort. Punch or kick. Now it's something different. Now it's reaching out and grabbing a hold of the man's gi to pull him off balance forward as Shingo drops backward to land on his back and toss Dan over in his version of a tomeonage technique, "Teya!"

COMBATSYS: Dan interrupts Medium Throw from Shingo with Kouryuu Rekka.

Dan              0/-------/-----==|=======\-------\1           Shingo

As Shingo runs in and Grabs Dan's Gi, the Saikyo master shakes his head ruefully, and physically rips himself from Shingo's grasp, leaving the young fighter clutching a pink shred of Gi. Where'd Dan go? Well, read on true believer. Know that Saikyo Power is about to ramp up into full gear, hopefully.
While Shingo is left with the shred of Gi, Dan's body corkscrews down almost to the point where Dan's head is touching his feet. Not quite that extreme, but almost. And while he's corkscrewing down, he calls out, "KOURYUUU"
It's after this inital word that he launches himself upwards, his body almost seeming to sparkle as he leaps straight into the air, spinning with an awesome uppercut, the force behind it propelling Dan all the way up to the Dojo's lighting, "REKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" Oh, Saikyo style.
As he lands, he crosses his arms and points at Shingo, "Now...what were you saying about wide open?"

Oh ho ho ho. Dan's got slick comments. That's good. Nice to see that he can still make 'jokes' in the midst of a battle that's supposedly supposed to be serious. Or at least more serious than their last fight was. Alledgedly. Shingo lands with a loud *THUD* on the mats covering the wooden floor of the dojo after receiving the business end of Dan's most powerful attack. Or what he thinks is Dan's most powerful attack. The boy only getting back up after a recovery roll onto his feet and grinning widely at Dan's display of skill. "I guess I was mistaken, then. Huh, Mister Hibiki?" For something being serious the both of them are being pleasant about it. From Shingo's point of view anyways.

"SHINGO KIIIIIIICKU!" It didn't exactly have the effect he wanted it to have before but hopefully this time things will change. If not it'll be another whiff-fest with what is supposed to be his famous and infamous signature technique. The kick once more planning on connecting with the side of Dan's head to send the man sprawling.

COMBATSYS: Dan blocks Shingo's Shingo Kick.

Dan throws his arm up again to block the incoming kick, with his arm, and does so, shakily wobbling from all the exertion that's been going down. He breathes a little bit, and hops away from Shingo, shakily on his feet, before pointing at Shingo, "You did well. That's for sure, but you've been exerting yourself, haven't you. I'm sure you're starting to feel a little tired, right? But me? I can go on for hours. Hours and hours of pure Saikyo skill."
He unpins the medal from his Gi, "If I lose this medal, I'm one step closer to being out of this tournament, and you're one step closer to winning. If I win your medal, I've got a long way to go, but I can make it. Whoever wins or loses today, it can be assured this won't be our last battle for a medal. In short...."
The Saikyo master shrugs, "I can't lose. I've already won."
Pinning his medal back to his Gi, he flings a Gadouken from as far away as he possibly can, calling its name out as he's done so many times before. All that dramatic speech sure was....stupid and unnecessary. What is Dan's game here?

COMBATSYS: Dan can no longer fight.

Almost as easily as last time, in fact moreso, Shingo hops back out of the way of the remarkably short-ranged projectile and gives some careful consideration to Dan's words. The sensei says he can go on for hours on pure Saikyo skill, but it doesn't look that way to Shingo. But he won't speak up and be rude about it. Instead he nods respectfully and gives Dan a thumbs-up, "Of course, Mister Hibiki. Plus as long as everyone does their best and enjoys a good then there's no way anyone can lose!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo takes no action.

Dan looks at Shingo, pulling his arms back up into his stance, before slumping over onto his knees. His chin falls forward and hits the Mat, and he begins snoring loudly.
Yeah, go on for hours my ass. Well, on the upside Dan, if anyone asks you can say Shingo only won because you were so bored by the match you fell asleep. It's always good to have a PR exit.
Oddly enough, the medal pinned to his Gi falls to the tatami mat, dangerously close to his ponytail.

Shingo falls over. Metaphorically speaking. That he wasn't expecting. At all. He bursts out in laughter after he realises that Dan has only fallen asleep from exhaustion. When the laughter dies down he walks forward to Dan's prone body and reaches down to pick up the dropped medal. As he attaches it to where he keeps the rest of his own medals, Shingo speaks out loud, "Thanks for the match, Mister Hibiki. It was a fun fight. Sleep well." And with that he bows to the man's body, turns, and exits the dojo. Now to go do some homework.

COMBATSYS: Shingo has ended the fight here.
