KOF 2005 - KOF Summary

Description: [OOC] Most of the bulletin board posts from the King of Fighters 2005 tournament.

==============================================================================
KOF: Round 2 -- Sun Jun 5 2005 -- Nova
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, tourney fighters. Since you all impressed the heck out of me and got your matches done in less time than I accounted for, we're going to move on to Round 2 a week early.

IKARI TEAM vs TEAM EVIL in KOREA
VITRIOL vs UNITED SCHOOLS in AUSTRALIA
ESAKA TEAM vs RISING DRAGONS in AFRICA
TEAM METRO vs TERRY BOGARD in GREAT BRITAIN

DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 11:59 pm ET

Since there's fewer fights now, I'm cutting the deadline down to a week. As long as you guys can keep up the momentum you've shown for the first round, there shouldn't be any problems.

EDIT: Added fight locations.
EDIT: Changed the deadline to Wednesday. In the words of Luke Skywalker, 'Your overconfidence is your weakness.' We're gonna play it safe still.

King Of Fighters Epilogue -- Wed Jul 6 2005 -- Nova
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REUTERS - VATICAN CITY
In a stunning twist, the King of Fighters tournament held one last fight on Saturday night.
The Rising Dragons, the winning team composed of Sakura Kasugano, Ken Masters, and Ryu, arrived in Vatican City to receive their award for winning KOF from the host of the tournament, now revealed to be a man of unknown origin simply called "Gill."
(insert photo of Gill from the ceremony with the caption "Gill's age and country of origin have not yet been discovered.")
Upon revealing himself, Gill announced a prophetic apocalypse, proclaiming himself as a new messiah and that the Rising Dragons were to be his new disciples. Several people at the ceremony took exception to this, most notably Ryu and Masters themselves. Gill noted that due to the lack of a Round Four fight, he would personally test all three fighters, whereupon they engaged in a 3 versus 1 battle against the rules of KOF.
Despite Gill's inhuman strength, up to and including full body regeneration, the Rising Dragons proved more than a match, with Sakura Kasugano delivering a fatal blow that turned Gill to a pile of ash.
(insert photo of Sakura firing a Hadouken at Gill with the caption "Sakura Kasugano attends Taiyo High School in Southtown, Japan.")
Combat analysts are skeptical that Kasugano had anything to do with Gill's death, however. "There was a marked increase in his chi output, as evidenced by the manifestation of fire and ice along his body," notes Chevy Nova, a lecturer at the Boston School of Natural Resources. "Given the stress under which he was operating, it appears that the necessary power to regenerate himself a second time was too much for this Gill to hold. It consumed him."
Authorities are launching an investigation into Gill's organization, but as yet no leads have been discovered. Kelly Lucenti's whereabouts are also unknown, and her company, a public relations firm hired to market King of Fighters, could not be reached for comment.

KOF: The Final Post -- Sat Jul 9 2005 -- Nova
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man. What with one thing and another, somehow I forgot to do this.

To everyone who participated in KOF. You guys rock. This was the first major tourney in which all matches finished before their deadlines; hell, it's the first major tourney that actually -finished- because of this. Thanks to everyone for giving us a lot of great fights.

I know we didn't do a whole lot with the story aspect; I had my hands full just organizing matches. My thanks to Kobun who was happy to help out on that end.

This is as good a time as any to let you know that I plan to run another tournament later this summer. I'll tell you right now that it's not World Warrior (someone else can handle the major themely tournament next time), and it's not like any other tourney that's been held before. I think most of you will find it interesting. I'll try to get it in before the school year starts, but I'm going to be extremely busy over the next several weeks, so we'll see how it works out.

So thank you all, and I hope you found King of Fighters enjoyable.
