An interesting place for a fight, indeed. Then again, ladder matches aren't very common in the world of martial combat.. it's more like something out of professional wrestling. Haggar must feel at home in the abandoned warehouse, steel ladders set up and propped everywhere.
There are a few cameras scattered around the warehouse, mostly held by cameramen up on the higher catwalks.. they certainly don't want to get in the way of the action. His name announced first, Katana steps out into the middle of the warehouse, a spotlight striking him. He withdraws his wakizashi from their sheathes and spins them wildly, striking a few dramatic poses for the camera before stepping to the side and awaiting the next fighter.

It's been a long time since Haggar's been in one of these matches. There are two different flavors of ladder match, you see. There's the one where a belt or other object is suspended in the air, with one ladder out in the open and many more under the ring. First to get to the belt wins. This is the more common one. Then there's the other, less seen kind, where ladders are just strewn about the place for the sole purpose of being used as weapons.
That's what this is.
When Haggar is announced, he steps forward out of the shadows of the warehouse, the glint of steel over his shoulder. All the old wrestling fans at home promptly geek out - this is Haggar's Ladder, painted black and about 50 percent more ladder than most mortal ladders. And he stands, and stares at Katana.
The ninja that was chosen to back up the more-imposing Katana for this matchup would actually be more in her element out of doors, but then the whole idea of this whole set of pay-per-view events was supposed to be randomness from the sound of its title so them's the brakes. But even so, for this reason Ibuki chooses not to make any kind of cliched ninja entrance like swirling into being amidst a whirlwind of leaves. That and, because it's not fall yet and there are no damn leaves in here. Just ladders. Lots and lots of ladders.
The young kunoichi merely steps out from the sidelines while pulling at her mask to make sure it's tight on her face and won't be falling down the first time she gets hit, and then gives a little nod of her head to her partner, for the moment paying no mind to the fact that he looks a whole lot like a samurai and ninjas and samurais are old bitter enemies. She's really not one to judge a book by its cover, and she really doubts he's a real samurai in this day and age anyway.
As soon as Haggar steps out into view, Katana glares at him from behind his match, grip on his wakizashi tightening as he scowls at his hated foe. "The Mayor..." spits the massive gang leader, glancing over to his partner.. a ninja. He's well aware of the old feud between ninja and samurai, but now is not the time for such affairs - today, they are allies in their battle against the real enemy; the damn americans.
Glancing at his partner, the massive man speaks in sloppy, broken Japanese. <Avoid his range. He is the monster.> That sound piece of advice given, Katana steps towards Haggar without the slightest hint of fear. He stops only when he's a few feet away from the even bigger man. Lowering his voice so that only he and Haggar can hear, the gang leader speaks, his voice deep and dangerous. "It's just a matter of time, Haggar. This time, we won't kidnap her. We'll just kill her." Letting out an evil laugh, the faux-samurai spins one of his wakizashi and brings it slashing down towards the man's shoulder.

Y'know, Haggar was actually going to be fairly easy-going about this, but then you had to go and say /that./ Haggar's fist comes up swiftly, and he simply punches the wakizashi. The blade splits the skin across his knuckles, some blood oozing out, but otherwise the Mayor seems unaffected. He drops his ladder behind him, stepping forward and wrapping one arm around Katana, bringing his other hand around the small blade to grab Katana's wrist. He puts his face very close to Katana's, and he'd probably feel Haggar's hot, angry breath if not for that mask. He doesn't even say anything, just lets him see the fresh rage awakened in his eyes.
Then Haggar makes a short hop to plant his feet, leaning into Katana and yanking at his arm in an attempt to pull him up off his feet, over, and into the steel ladder behind him.

Upon hearing the way the man speaks, Ibuki quickly comes to the conclusion that he must be a foreigner, and this only makes it even less possible for him to be an actual samurai. Rather than making her laugh, this actually calms her a bit more and lets her focus. There's a nod of her head toward her current teammate, showing that she understands him even when he isn't using clear sentence structure, and then the ninja proceeds to stand back while the samurai makes his attack. And while she waits there with her arms crossed, she recalls something about some wrestling matches she's seen since they're fighting a former champion of the sport.... When facing a huge guy like Mike Haggar, don't people often try to hammer one spot in the hopes of bringing him to his knees? That sounds like as good a plan as any to her, so Ibuki takes careful note of where Katana tried to strike the Mayor before her. And even though he doesn't actually manage to hit him there, it's still marked as the shinobi's target as she maneuvers herself closer. And when she finally chooses to make her attack, she tries to time it just right, to where Haggar is in the middle of *using* that shoulder. She flips up, and then tries to come down hard with both of her wrapped heels at joining of shoulder and collarbone, whilst Haggar is still in the middle of tossing Katana.
Attempting to reverse Haggar's throw, Katana is unable to break the man's powerful grip, and instead simply stares him in the eyes. The samurai has plenty of hatred towards the mayor of Metro City too.. after all, it was he who killed the great Belger, a crime that he has yet to be properly punished for. If not today, then in the coming weeks.. "Things are going to change.." mutters Katana, before he's thrown into the ladder, his back arching with pain as he lets out a loud grunt.
Slowly shuffling back to his feet, the massive gang leader shakes his head and stumbles around before he regains his footing. It's been a while since he's been on the receiving end of a Haggar beating. It sure does bring back memories.. but he's got to focus.. he's got to do.. something.
There's a sharp burst of static from inside the man's helmet, and he mutters a few words - seemingly to himself. How strange.

Mike Haggar catches Ibuki coming out of the corner of his eye, and after he slams the otaku, he drops and rolls to the right. Wrestler dodges ninja, story of the year. He comes up scowling at Ibuki, and snarls, "Stay out of this for now! You don't know who this man is..." The Mayor whips around, running for the recovering Katana. He jumps at him, looking like he's going for a drop kick - but then tries to lock his legs around Katana's head. His goal after is then to pivot in a manner a wrestler would not normally be able to, jerk Katana over to the side, and spin in a manner that will flip him off of the ground and into a nearby standing ladder.
...And Ibuki comes falling like a comet back down to the hard floor of the ladder-filled warehouse, landing at an awkward angle and just barely managing not to slip and fall backward and hurt herself. She always hates missing with that move because the landing from a miss just plain makes her feet hurt. "Oww man that stings!" she mutters to herself just before Haggar more or less tells her to wait her turn in a 2 on one match. Yeah right. While she does give the big mayor at least a moment where she's not buzzing around him like a fly, it's only because it takes that long to climb to the top of one of the tall ladders set up nearby and wait for the right moment to drop.

Once again, Haggar simply manhandles the scourge of Metro City, slamming him into a nearby ladder. Katana is able to soften the landing, and he manages to come up in a roll - clutching both his wakizashi and staring dangerously at the Mayor. "Don't pretend that you're better than me, -Haggar-.. I want nothing but good things for Metro City, and you stand in my way!" growls the armour-clad man.
Crossing his arms over his chest, still holding on to his weapons, the gang leader simply stares at Haggar hatefully. It's fortunate that he's wearing a mask, so that no one is able to read his lips when he mutters something to himself again. What's he doing?
"You won't be able to stop us this time, Mayor. Belger's dream will be realized!"

Mike Haggar lands on his feet, taking a few steps back toward His Ladder. "Nothing you 'want' is going to help anyone, Katana. In your Metro City, there'll be nothing but fear and crime." He kneels down, grabbing his ladder by a middle rung and easily lifting it up, testing its heft. "And it's never going to happen!" Haggar throws the ladder right at Katana's chest. Like a javelin. Except a FREAKING LADDER.
Ibuki can't really hear a word of any of the back and forth of Haggar and Katana, and that's probably a good thing. Not that anything like morals would much come into it for her if the situation were actually explained to her. It would just confuse her and stuff! She'd much rather think about trying to make this match a good one. Or at least decent. She hasn't exactly got a record of being awesome in sanctioned matches just yet. So, as soon as that ladder is loosed by Haggar to go flying at the foreigner samurai, she dives right off of her ladder and kicks off so hard that it falls backward and even knocks a couple others over as she puts her foot out and once again tries to kick Haggar's exposed shoulder.

Katana does something unexpected as the ladder is tossed towards him.. he runs straight into it - the tip of the heavy metal object slamming into his chest armour. But, surprisingly, the massive man forces through it, the item falling to the side as the gang leader continues his mad dash towards Haggar. "Prepare to die, Haggar!" bellows Katana, the hatred practically oozing out of his voice.
A short burst of static from within his mask.. everything is in position. This PPV match is in for a bit of an unexpected addition - courtesy of Mad Gear. Rushing towards the massive mayor, Katana attempts to grab hold of him and force him backwards.. just as the dreaded Mad Gear semi slams into the warehouse wall from the side, crashing through and ploughing into the fighting area, knocking aside numerous ladders, which go flying dangerously in every direction. If Katana pulls it off right, he'll push Haggar right into the path of the vehicle.. if not, he'll be the one being hit.

Mike Haggar settles down as Katana comes for him - he's actually completely forgotten about Ibuki at this point, just assuming she'll listen to him. Being a mayor does give him a certain bit of confidence that he'll be listened to. He grabs Katana as well just as he comes for him, and /right then/ Ibuki lands her kick, causing him to lose his balance and leverage. Then Katana tosses him backwards... then the truck... then the impact.
The truck slams into Haggar, and to all looking it seems very grim for the mayor. Then, the semi starts slowing down even as the engine strains. The driver revs, but to no avail - the vehicle slows to a stop and the mighty engine coughs to a halt. With a cry, the Mad Gear driving gets the hell out - which is probably a good thing. There is a shriek of metal, and Mike Haggar staggers away from the partly-crushed front of the truck, carrying the fender in his hand. He's bleeding in many places, a cut on his head covering half his face with red, his pants torn up on the left, but after a bout of staggering, he steadies. Wordlessly, fire in his eyes, he points the fender at Katana, beckoning.
Yeah, that was pretty unexpected there. A truck smashing its way in and trying to run over the opponent, apparently at the command of Ibuki's own partner for the match. Much does it faze a shinobi? No, not really. Even after Haggar forces the huge truck to a stop and comes lumbering back over dripping blood everywhere, she still stands calmly where she landed from her earlier kick before the disaster that just happened all over the Mayor and responds with that time-honored ninja tradition of 'throw shurikens at it till it stops'.

Well, it was.. kinda worth it. Katana manages to push Haggar into the path of the semi, but he himself is also struck - dragged in by the Mayor. Hit first by the vehicle, the gang leader is sent -flying- through the air, while his hated foe actually manages to stop the truck. Crashing through a ladder, the massive armour-clad man strikes the ground with a dull *thud*.
There's a little bit of movement, the man actually managing to struggle to one knee. As Haggar points the fender at him, Katana actually... laughs. "This doesn't change a thing, Mayor. Enjoy your power.. while it lasts." A quick jerk of his arm sends one of his wakizashi sailing towards Haggar, before he keels over - unconscious.
Within seconds, a medical team is rushing towards him, wanting to make sure that he didn't, you know, DIE. From being hit by a TRUCK.

Mike Haggar growls at Katana, taking the fender and swinging it at the wakizashi, 'catching' the weapon and discarding the whole shebang. Ibuki's kunai catches him in the shoulder a bit glancingly, causing a neat slice along his back and getting his attention. He turns to face her now, taking a step back and crouching into his stance. He wipes blood off his face, taking a moment to breathe, bleed, and cool down so he doesn't take out all that anger on someone undeserving.

While most of Ibuki's face may currently be hidden behind a facemask, her eyes still manage to say something to the affect of 'Okay, whatever the hell that was... '. Brow furrowed, eyes cut to the side toward the fallen Katana, etc. You know the look. And then after one more brief moment of considering the most recent turn the battle took she takes up her stance and starts to look twice as careful as before now that she's alone against an undoubtedly stronger opponent. HE JUST STOPPED A MOVING TRUCK. And so, she doesn't want to give him another moment more to gather his wits and swat her down out of the air. That same attack she missed with earlier, the one that was complete failure, is pulled out for one more try. Up she flips, and then down she comes to try and catch Haggar in his now injured shoulder with two kicks before she goes flipping back to where she started. If it lands. If not, that much more ice on her heels tonight. "Hien!"

Inhale... exhale... watching Ibuki as he is, there's really no way for him to get jumped this time. As Ibuki jumps at him, the mayor rises up, his right arm sweeping across Ibuki's legs, spinning her just slightly in the air. Then his hands come back together, blood rushing into (and out of) his arms as he slams both fists at Ibuki's waist, knocking her down and away.
*krak* Yeah, that really hurts as much as it looks like it does. Ibuki is sure she heard something pop, or even snap right there. But at least it wasn't her spine, she thinks. Just to be sure, when she rolls back to her feet, she starts to twist at the waist, with her arms up as if she were doing a warmup stretch. On the very next turn though it actually becomes an attack as the ninja tries to psyche out the Mayor, wheeling around all suddenly like that into a whirlwind kick, her foot snapping out one, two, three times to try and slice at him with the blades of wind chi that her heel drags through the air in front of her.

Mike Haggar leans back when Ibuki reveals her feint, trying to take her hits on his arms. However, her feint /worked,/ and Haggar takes three neat wind chi-caused slices on his chest, the last one cutting his suspender and knocking it off his chest. He seems to be stumbling back, but he turns it into a quick backpedal. Taking the truck to the side is really starting to catch up to him - he probably almost broke a thing or two. Haggar's still running mostly on adrenaline, though, and he hops back onto a standing ladder, and forward at the ninja. He seems to hang in the air briefly, light flashing around his hands as he brings them up and clasps them together - and an instant later he seems to propel toward the ground, hands slamming either into Ibuki or the ground - whichever comes first.

Wuh oh, she's probably gonna pay for that one. It was downright underhanded, afterall. At least Haggar's next attack would be well-deserved. If it hit. But through sheer luck she manages to /actually teleport out of the way for once/ with that stupid Kasumi Gake technique. One really can't begin to understand how many times that thing has failed her. Unless they're, oh, her best friend Kurosawa, who has watched Ibuki screw it up again and again. And after she's safely away, a ladder or two away from Haggar, behind him, she actually takes a moment to congratulate herself, throwing her hands up and doing one of those FF victory dances.

Mike Haggar hits the ground - but that's OK, since he half-expected it after how many times he has missed with that move. The floor under his hands is a bit cracked up, and it takes Haggar a few seconds to extract his fingers from each other, but he wastes no time. He snatches up the ladder to his left, turning and barreling at Ibuki like some crazy jousting horse. One ladder is dodged, the other one roughly shouldered aside, and if all goes well, Ibuki gets the blunt end of a ladder in her chest.

How many ladders has Ibuki walked under today? None that she can remember. Unless teleporting through two of them in some way counts as walking under them. Yeah, that's what she'll blame that bit of bad luck right there on. Normally, she would have been able to get out of the way of something that slow. She's sure of it. But right now, the wind is too knocked out of her for that to really matter. Ahgod. The diminuitive girl is all collapsed forward onto the ladder for a moment or two before she recovers, and at that exact moment she blurs into motion and tries to skitter down the rungs of that ladder Haggar's still holding, trying to make her way far enough down it to reach out for him and grab onto both of his massive shoulders with her !(Much-Smaller-Than-Makoto's)! hands. Whether or not she actually makes it this far? All of her chi is going to be forced out through her palms into one super-focused mini-hurricane. Damn ninjas and their crazy jutsus.

Mike Haggar leaps up as Ibuki grabs onto him, tilting with the intent of breaking away with a solid kick. But then all that chi comes out - always the X-factor to the purely phsical Haggar - and he goes flying away. He careens off a pillar, leaving a splotch of blood, and bounces from there into a wall of spare ladders, all of which tumble around him until Haggar is obscured from vision.
Some time passes, and then the ladders slowly shift away. The Mayor staggers out from the pile, his head wound reopened, the lower bit of his left pants leg pretty much torn off, but concious.
Run over by a truck, hit by a hurricane, and he's still standing. It's almost like Ibuki has to hit Haggar with a ladder or something to win this ladder match or it'll just never end. Or actually, it will, as soon as he manages to catch up to her again and smacks her down to the warehouse's concrete floor if she doesn't stay on the move. And so to that end, she breaks into a run straight for Haggar as he comes busting up out of all those fallen ladders, bloodier and looking worse-off than he was but very much willing and able to stomp her. Just when she's about to come within close-combat range though, she leaps up toward the wall behind him and goes running along it tossing kunais.

Mike Haggar finally gets his hands up in time to stop something, the dagger's point biting into Haggar's right arm before bouncing off due to the tensed muscle. The wrestler slowly approaches Ibuki, more out of care than out of fatigue - after all, he's on a real adrenaline kick now.

Ibuki has to drop back down from the wall after just a few steps, able to stay up there only long enough to get that blade thrown out, and rather than try to run any further once her feet touch ground again she seems to be willing to just stand there and let the Mayor come to her after seeing that running and throwing stuff just isn't going to cut it against a guy this tough. Right now it seems her only option is coming up with just a little more chi and trying to use it to finish what her Yoroi Doushi tried to get accomplished; break though all that defense and inflict enough pain to knock Huge out. She holds one hand palm up, and supports it as it begins to shake from the effort by bracing it at the wrist, a little spark of blue chi swirling up from her upturned palm and soon blossoming out into a more substantial orb before she goes to try and thrust it right for Haggar's bloodied shoulder. "Burst - Raida!!!"

Mike Haggar drops right down when Ibuki thrusts her chi at him. Wrestler dodges ninja /twice,/ stop the presses this one will be bigger than OJ. He doesn't bother getting back up quite yet, instead swinging his legs at Ibuki's ankles in an attempt to knock her down, then to post to his feet, drag her up with him, and slam his head into hers. Three times.

Ibuki's hand is rather unsteady on that one, having much less control of that wild wind chi since she's actually calling out energy she doesn't have available just to produce it, and so, Haggar somehow manages to dodge it and leave her jaw gaping behind her black mask and her eyes just a little wide. And then come the headbutts. But the ninja doesn't take them directly, she gets her forearms crossed up in front of her forehead just in time and her bracers instead soak up the giant headbutts that would probably otherwise have knocked her unconscious. Afterwards, she doesn't waste any time before running out, ducking between the Mayor's legs and skittering out behind him. But just when it looks like she's going to keep on running, she wheels herself right back around and snaps out another whirlwind of kicks, sending the blades of shimmering air at Haggar's back this time.

Mike Haggar spins around in time as well, reasonably certain of what's to come, and manages to take those blows on his arms. This time, somehow, the chi only raises some sharp welts instead of cutting. Breathing hard, Haggar has difficulty mustering anything up for one of his more punishing techniques, so after the wind is gone, a booted foot lifts up to go for Ibuki's side. He's gaining new respect for this ninja - she's more resilient than Haggar had expected.

Ibuki is actually, after that attack, too tired to start running again. This has *never* happened before. She's usually taken down, or has kamikazed herself into the ground long before she can get tired, but here she is out of breath and unable to get herself out of close quarters for once. So now she's stuck and she doesn't know what to do, when all of a sudden Haggar's boot comes up and she has to react. But this time she doesn't just dodge, she turns her body aside and latches onto Haggar's shoe, yanking it off of his foot and attempting to throw it right at his face. Kunais are too obvious! Maybe hitting him with his own shoe will work out better for the ninja schoolgirl.

Mike Haggar really, really should have been able to get out of the way of that... but he's tired, and he was just eaten by a grue, so his reactions are slowed. As such, the shoe hits him right in the face, and he leans sharply back, hopping back on one foot to keep his balance. Some blood flies through the air - not fresh blood, just blood being knocked off by the shoe. Haggar comes back forward, wavering, and figures... hey, if it's time to go out, at least go out giving it your all. And so, Haggar leaps into the air one last time, a blue flash flaring around his arms. And he slams forward again in his trademark axehandle.

Ibuki really can barely move her feet right now. The most she could do at this point would be to turn aside again, but this is not the kind of attack you can just let fly by you like the last one. This is death from above, and there's nothing the fatigued ninja can do about it. She manages to get her arms up, hands out like she thinks she can somehow catch all that Huge and hold it long enough to tumble out of the way, but no. Not a chance. She just gets totally crushed and folds like a house of cards.
Mike Haggar, for his part, doesn't even really land out of the Violent Axe. He hits the ground and kinda rolls forward a bit, before coming to a stop completely KO'd.
