KOF 2005 - [R4] R.Dragons vs Ikari

Description: Team Ikari withdrew from the tournament citing important work-related reasons.

(One of the many, many, MANY commentaries about the King of Fighters Tournament...)

As the much-awaited final round of the latest King of Fighters tournament draws near, fans the world over may soon be looking for refunds on their seats! A notice from the Ikari side puts Ralf Jones on the disabled list, leaving only two fighters. Beyond that, a second notice was given to officials stating that the Ikaris are /withdrawing/ from the tournament, citing important work-related reasons, but failed to go into detail.

(Quickly, they make for a commercial break, hoping to keep the number of show-related TV smashings at a minimum.)

REUTERS -- With the unfortunate withdrawal of the Ikari Team from the King of Fighters Tournament, the final match has been declared a forfeit in favor of the Rising Dragons.

As there are no more teams to challenge them, the Rising Dragons -- consisting of Ryu, Ken Masters, and Sakura Kasugano -- have been officially recognized as the champions by the King of Fighters board.

"This result comes as no surprise to us," said one KoF official who wished to remain anonymous. "Still, we are disappointed that there was no final match to be had. Given their performance throughout the tournament, the result of that fight could have been quite different. We wish Ralf Jones the best in a speedy recovery."

An award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Vatican City. The host of King of Fighters, whose identity is as yet unknown, will be at the ceremony to personally hand out the awards. The KoF official declined to comment on the host's identity at this time.

The award ceremony will be held in Vatican City on Saturday, July 2nd, at 9:00 pm local time. Seating will be free on a first come first serve basis.
