Description: The Gedo Boss takes on a Korean jumping bean. (Winner: Daigo)
Athletic Field
Justice High's athletic field is nothing so large as Taiyo Dome or so spacious
as Pacific High's beachfront property, but just like everything else at Justice,
it's of the highest quality. There are no football, baseball, or soccer fields
here. Instead, there are tennis courts, strips of concrete for fencing,
racquetball courts, archery ranges, and so on. If it's a sport enjoyed by the
elite, it can be found here.
Friday Afternoon. 5:00 PM. Justice High Athletic Field.
The site of the Justice Tournament. The coolest tournament this side of Geese
Tower. Many fights have been done already, and many more will come, as tonight
two fighters once again cross fists to see who the better schoolyard punk is.
One of the two contestants is already here, at the appointed time, calmly
waiting on his side of the field that is their 'arena'. Daigo Kazama, of Gedo
High, stands patiently, arms crossed over his broad chest, and good eye closed.
Listening to the crowd. The students that have gathered to watch the next fight
in the series. Listening to the ones who support him, and those who support his
opponent. It's a pleasing sound, as it signifies spirit. Support. Things like
that.
Daigo is ready for his next fight. His first one with Megumi turned out to be
tougher than he'd anticipated. One can only wonder what will happen in the
second round.
While his opponent is already waiting when the designated time comes, Kim
Kaphwan comes strolling into the arena at exactly 5:00. His arrival brings about
a chorus of hisses and jeers from the assembled students of Gedo High, all of
them no doubt hoping that the gang-boss leaves him in a heap on the ground. But
there are those who support the korean man, although the Justice students are
much more dignified in doing so - calm, polite applause being all but drowned
out by the various boos.
But none of this seems to bother Kim, who jogs up the aisle into the main
fighting area, toothy grin plastered on his face as he waves to the audience -
either not noticing, or not caring, the ones who obviously want him to lose.
Taking a few minutes to pace around the field, posing and smiling as he does so,
the TKD master finally stops across from Daigo.
His fight against Cody in the last round was just a warm-up for this match,
which pits him against a man who is doubtlessly the toughest enrolled in the
tournament. The man who single-handidly brought all of Gedo High under his
banner of vigilantism, crushing the criminal element that used to run rampant
amongst the students. And for that, he is to be respected.. respected and
feared. Kim has been preparing for this match for a week now, and he's as ready
as he's ever going to get - there's no fear or hesitation whatsoever in his face
as he sizes up the much larger man, bowing low in a show of respect for his
opponent.
"An honour to meet you, Daigo."
Indeed, the chorus of cheers and jeers seems a little lopsided, as Gedo High has
always been twice as loud as they need to be. What do you expect from a school
of rowdy gang kids? Even if they ARE organized?
As far as Daigo goes, he waits. Silently standing in his chosen place of rest.
Sort of like a miniature mountain in the middle of a sports field. Sometime
during Kim's walkabout, his good eye opens, and the Gedo Boss watches Kim's
final few legs of his journey to the center of the arena, watches Kim bow in
respect and speak of honor.
Daigo replies with a bow of his own, as formal as the Boss allows himself to be.
"...I expect a good fight out of you. Don't expect me to go easy, and I won't
expect you to be an easy target." And that's all the greeting Daigo feels up to
saying this time, as he falls into his combat stance. Legs spread to distribute
his weight, arms raised boxer-style, head tilted to keep his good eye on Kim.
"Let's get this started."
COMBATSYS: Daigo has started a fight here.
COMBATSYS: Kim has joined the fight here.
As Daigo speaks to him, Kim begins to ready himself for the fight as well -
rolling up the sleeves on his Tae Kwon Do gi so as to further expose his
well-defined upper arms. There's a wirey strength evident in his body that seems
a good counter-point to the sheer size of his opponent - this fight is going to
be the epitome of speed vs. strength. Crossing his arms in an 'x' in front of
him, the korean holds this pose for a second before he explodes into motion,
bringing them whipping back down to his side as he simultaneously brings his
legs further apart, widening his stance.
"I'll be sure not to disappoint. I trust you will do the same."
Those are the only further words from the mouth of the TKD master, as his toothy
grin suddenly fades. Time to get serious - his opponent has a definite size and
strength advantage, and so he needs all his focus if he hopes to bring the 'kid'
down. Sporting a blank, expressionless face, Kim takes off in a sudden dash
towards Daigo, rapidly closing the distance with long, leaping strides. For a
moment, it looks as though he plans on actually running -into- the gangboss, but
at the very last second he executes an impressive backflip - tucking one leg up
against his chest and keeping the other extended, whipping up towards the
underside of his opponent's chin. An impressive start to the match, and a sign
that Kim is taking this as seriously as he can.
COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Kim's Hangetsu Zan EX.

Kim 0/-------/-------|-------\-------\0 Daigo
An impressive and flashy start to the match. Acrobatics from the speedy, smaller
combatant, attempting to kick the chin of Daigo! Ahh, speed is one thing to not
overrate. For all of Daigo's power, if he can't even touch his opponent, it
won't do him any good to be the wall he's rumored to be.
And yet, as fast as that first kick was, it still gave Daigo's trained body all
the time it needed to put up an adequate defense. Both arms lift, both hands
coming out of their fists and rising to take the kick, and stop it before it can
quite connect with his chin. A beautiful first attempt, and a typical block to
go with it. But does that leave Kim open to a counter-attack? Daigo tries. His
attack, nowhere near flashy, nor even all that powerful. It's like a simple
swat, one of his hands that had just been used to block, jabbing out to try and
give Kim a parting shot before the next assault can be performed.
COMBATSYS: Kim endures Daigo's Jab Punch!
Kim's foot does impact against his opponent, but it's not the chin-shot he was
hoping for - the man's expert defenses unwavering under the first attack - and
he completes his fluid backflip with the knowledge that a swift counter-attack
is to be expected. When it comes, it's not the brutal assault that he was
expecting from the crimeboss, a simple swat being leveled at his head from the
much larger man. Stepping forward into the blow, Kim's head is sent to the side
from the relatively weak attack - actually surprised that he wasn't on the
receiving end of something much more painful.
But this surprise doesn't slow his offense in the slightest, taking another step
forward - seemingly unphased by the smack - and planting one foot on the ground,
thrusting out with his other leg. "Hiii-YAH!" yells the TKD master, as he aims
to plant a powerful kick into the gut of his opponent.
COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Kim's Heavy Kick.

Kim 0/-------/------=|=------\-------\0 Daigo
Again, Kim's attack lands, but not quite as solidly as he might have liked.
Daigo's arms, ready from his 'weak' offensive test, snap back to absorb the
brunt of that strong kick, noting to himself the power this TKD master has in
his wiry frame. It was a good kick! Daigo can feel the force behind it. But this
time, perhaps Kim left himself open a little too much. Thinking he has a better
idea of Kim's speed after two good hits, the Gedo Boss attempts to step in
during the followthrough of that strong kick, to snap his right fist around and
smash it into Kim's gut. Oh, and did we mention the hint of Phoenix chi lacing
that fist?
COMBATSYS: Kim blocks Daigo's Phoenix Fist.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ////////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/----===|==-----\-------\0 Daigo
It might've worked on a slower opponent, but Kim is just too quick - planting
his kicking leg back on the ground and moving a hand into the path of Daigo's
powerful punch. Catching the chi-enforced fist in the palm of his hand, he is
forced backwards from the impact. He, too, could feel the force behind the man's
attack - and it only reinforces his desire to avoid any such strikes. Catching a
punch like that in the stomach could have disastrous results for his chances of
victory, and Kim doesn't want to let his fans down.
Once Daigo draws his fist back, the TKD master steps forward and levels a quick
kick to the side of the man's knee - not a powerful attack by any stretch of the
imagination, but it should be enough to temporarily knock the man off-balance.
And if it lands, that's when the real attack comes - Kim spinning on one foot
and bringing his other in a smashing roundhouse kick aimed towards the side of
his jaw. Knowing that it'll take more than that to have much effect on the
resilient gangboss, the korean lets loose with another one immediately
afterwards, and finishes by leaping high into the air - raising his leg vertical
to the ground before bringing it crashing down on the man's shoulder.
COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Kim's Sanren Geki.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/----===|===----\-------\0 Daigo
A closer call this time, Daigo is indeed knocked off balance from the first of
the multiple kicks, staggering almost into the second chin-high smash. A
last-second duck keeps the Gedo boss from seeing stars in that exact moment,
though it doesn't keep him out of harms way, as two more kicks attempt to floor
him. The second jaw-lined kick is met with Daigo's meaty forearm, and the
overhead axe-kick by Daigo's left hand, catching it in his hand, and attempting
to hold Kim's leg just like that for a second.
Long enough for Daigo to try kicking one of his legs out, to try and sweep Kim
right off his feet, and onto his back. Another simple attack with limited power,
but as far as the Gedo Boss is concerned, every little bit counts.
COMBATSYS: Kim endures Daigo's Light Kick!
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/--=====|===----\-------\0 Daigo
The moment his massive opponent has a hold of his leg, Kim knows that he's going
to be hitting the ground very soon, and so he does his best to prepare for it.
When he slams back-first into the hard arena floor, the korean man moves quickly
to make the best of his position. Crawling back to create some space between
himself and Daigo - mainly to increase the force of his next attack - he rears
back with one leg and sends it crashing forward into the gangboss' kneecap. The
man's upper body seems almost to be too powerful to harm, and so he takes a
different approach, going after the legs.
COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Kim's Light Kick.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/--=====|===----\-------\0 Daigo
It's definately a new approach to taking down a mountain. Daigo is rarely
attacked in the legs themselves, most opponents preferring to focus on the big
man's head. That doesn't make them any less defended. It takes some muscle to
move Daigo's weight around. He may not be as big as Gan, but what he has is
mostly muscle, and as everyone knows, muscle weighs more than fat. In other
words, Daigo's got some tough legs, right along with everything else! Kim's kick
isn't deflected, but Daigo does manage to shift his weight so he's not standing
on that knee, turning his body enough to spread the damage out and effectively
lessen the overall effect.
Meaning he's still standing, though with a twinge of pain in his knee. "You're
not doing too bad..." he comments, idly, to the TKD master, before stepping up
and attempting to plant that knee into Kim's gut. Which, if that connects, shall
be then followed up with a few good punches to the chest, and ending with a toss
over Daigo's shoulder, perhaps to the ground. But will he be fast enough to
connect with all that?
COMBATSYS: Kim blocks Daigo's Knee and Beatdown.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/=======|====---\-------\0 Daigo
If Kim hadn't been mentally psyching himself up for the fight, he might be
disappointed and discouraged that his kick to the knee does nothing to move the
man - he knew beforehand how tough Daigo was, how much of an uphill battle this
would be. Still, kicking someone full-force in the knee and getting no reaction
certainly wouldn't help anyone's confidence, but the korean tries his best not
to think about it. He'll just keep trying to break through the gangboss'
seemingly insurmountable defenses.
Flipping back to his feet, Kim is almost immediately targetted by another
powerful attack from his opponent - but, once again, he's prepared for it, his
sense of self-preservation and will to win sharpening his reactions even moreso
than normal. The knee is blocked by a forearm, absorbing the impact painfully -
his feet actually rising a few inches off the ground from the force of the blow.
He says nothing in response to the gangboss' words, focused more on preventing
any of those powerful attacks from striking him directly than he is
complimenting the man's power.
Moving to attack before the first follow-up punch can be thrown, Kim jumps
straight up into the air - easily clearing Daigo's entire 6'6" of height - and
aims a series of brutal stomps downwards, trying to connect with the top of his
skull.
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Daigo with Hishou Kyaku.
- Power hit! -
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////////// ]
Kim 1/-------/=======|======-\-------\0 Daigo
Did you ever have the feeling like some cosmic force were tap-dancing on your
skull?
Daigo can't get his hands up in time... Perhaps, momentarily amazed at Kim's
jumping power, Daigo fails to put up enough of a defense to matter in this case,
and ends up on the receiving end of many brutal steps on his head, likely enough
to give him one heck of a headache for later. One stomp might have even landed
on the big Gedo man's closed eye, a blow which he certainly won't simply be
'shrugging off' anytime soon.
In fact, it was all enough to make Daigo nearly growl in pain, spinning around
to try and catch Kim while he's still up in the air after that head-splitting
fancy footwork, going straight for another of his fun right-hand chi-laced
hooks. Seeking to give an eye for an eye, his aim is for Kim's head!
COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Kim with Phoenix Fist.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////////// ]
Kim 1/----===/=======|=======\-------\1 Daigo
Kim certainly wasn't expecting his opponent to recover in time to attack while
he was still -in- the air, and he finds himself unable to defend or evade the
blow in such a position. Slammed in the side of the face by Daigo's powerful,
jaw-crunching right hook, the korean man sails to the left from the force of the
attack - slamming heavily onto the arena floor several feet away. The blow
causes a great cheer to rise up amongst the assorted Gedo students in the crowd,
as Kim remains slowly pushes himself up with the help of his two hands. Pausing
to spit a bloody wad of saliva onto the ground below, the dazed korean man
stumbles back to his feet, head spinning as he tries to get his bearings.
That's exactly what he wanted to avoid in this match - now that Daigo has landed
one solid blow to his jaw, the TKD master seems to be slowed down, his vision
doubling as he stares at the crimeboss, a noticeable bruise already forming on
the point of impact. Squinting his eyes and clenching his teeth in focus, he
waits - standing on wobbly legs - until his vision has returned to normal and
his stance becomes solid once again. Raising one arm to point at Daigo, Kim lets
out a small laugh despite the pain that pounds through his head.
"Come on, kid, that can't be all."
COMBATSYS: Kim focuses on his next action.
Now Daigo didn't actually think that one punch would come close to ending the
fight. That's the first solid hit he's gotten off on the speedy TKD boy all
match so far. Thus, Daigo is slightly surprised to be asked...no, more like
begged, to bring on more pain. His head starting to throb from the earlier
two-step he'd had to live through, Daigo's good eye narrows, and he brings his
fists together so that he might crack the knuckles on his right hand.
"I'm just gettin' warmed up... How about you?"
And yet, it's not an opening. In fact, it's a taunt. Daigo is being expected to
come, to throw a fist, and then to be countered. He anticipates it. He expects
it. So he'll do what he can to not give that sort of opportunity so easily.
Daigo does step up to the challenge, but rather than go all out on a charge, he
steps to just within range for his left hand to whip out, and slap the right
side of Kim's head. His right arm, already lifted and ready to attempt to block
whatever can be used against him.
COMBATSYS: Kim endures Daigo's Jab Punch.
"This ain't over yet, big guy."
SLAP.
Seems like Daigo is playing it smart - rather than going all out and risk
leaving a large opening for Kim, he chooses to instead strike out with a quick
smack to the side of the man's head. This time, it doesn't even shake the korean
man, who immediately presses the assault despite his surprise at being attacked
so weakly yet again. Thrusting out with one foot towards the gangboss' chest,
Kim aims to push him back a few feet. If it lands, what follows can only be
described as painful, even if you're as tough as the Gedo student - with a burst
of movement, the TKD master rushes in to cover the newly opened distance, hoping
that his previous kick will make the next attacks easier to land.
Aiming another kick to the larger man's kneecap, Kim follows up with a brutal
combination of roundhouses, snap-kicks, jump-kicks, everything that a champion
of Tae Kwon Do might possibly have learned in years of training. And all of it
is applied in less than a minute, the korean letting out a series of yells as he
plants his feet up and down Daigo's body - finishing it all off with a jumping
dropkick that aims to plant the soles of his feet directly into the man's face.
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Daigo with Hou'ou Kyaku.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/------=|=======\==-----\1 Daigo
Daigo may have been prepared to block, but he wasn't quite up to speed with
Kim's next burst of action. One kick lands, Daigo is pushed back, and then...
A beautiful combo. One sure to earn a great many technical points by the judges.
If there were any. Most of the wonderous combination of kicks, jump-kicks,
roundhouses, the whole deal each finding some mark on Daigo's big body. Each one
seeming to weaken the mountain of a man to the point that he's on his knees by
the time Kim's final drop-kick can connect to his face. The only saving grace
for the Gedo Boss, being that he'd managed to brace himself just enough against
the turf of the arena to keep from flying backwards after that blow.
All that means, is he falls forward instead, onto his hands, squinting through
the red haze that's crept into his good eye from the constant abuse. That
headache will be getting bigger... No time to focus on that, though. Daigo has
to continue the match. And so, with effort, the big Gedo Boss...gets back to his
feet, brushing some grass off his knees first. "...Very impressive." is all he
says, before advancing whatever distance Kim may have put between himself and
Daigo, whom is leading with his left fist...but this time, the simple jab has a
right-handed cross punch coming after it!
COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Kim with 1-2 Smash.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/----===|=======\===----\1 Daigo
Kim could press the offensive, keep attacking the big man when he's down - after
all, it's not likely that he'll get this chance again - but it's not his style.
It would be too.. dishonorable, and he has too much respect for his opponent,
especially after seeing his skills first-hand, to do such an under-handed thing.
Instead, he simply backs off a step, giving himself plenty of room to react to
Daigo's next assault.. or so he thought. When the gangboss comes lumbering
towards him, Kim is unprepared for the swiftness of the initial jab punch,
getting caught square in the face, his head snapping backwards. But it's nothing
compared to the follow-up blow, which sends the korean stumbling to the side as
a mist of crimson escapes from between his pursed lips.
He doesn't have the luxury of waiting to recover, he has to keep Daigo on the
defensive - it's already been proven what happens when the big man is given a
chance to attack at his own pace. To win this fight for Justice High, Kim has to
control the flow of the match, fight it on his own terms. And so, he comes
careening back towards his opponent with a punch of his own - sending a right
hook hurtling through the air towards his jaw.
COMBATSYS: Daigo endures Kim's Strong Punch.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/----===|=======\=====--\1 Daigo
It was a clean punch. One that, with all of Kim's force behind it, actually
succeeds well in snapping Daigo's head back. In fact it might seem a little odd
that Daigo appeared to not even bother to raise a block. Going from his ol'
one-two attack, to moving in range of his next attempt, Daigo takes that strong
punch full to the face, since it's going to be hard to make his head hurt any
/more/ than it already does after being stomped and punched at.
What Daigo's doing is completing his momentium. Having unloaded both fists at
Kim, his left one comes back now, only to be jutted forth in the middle of Kim's
punch, going low to try and catch the TKD master in the gut...
If that succeeds, what follows next ought to be very familiar. Only in a
different style. There's no flashy moves in the combo Daigo would unleash. Just
a rapid-fire series of punches, kicks, haymakers, and the last three hits of an
overhead kick, a roundhouse, and then a final punch designed to carry the full
weight of Daigo's bulk (and his chi) behind him...
If it misses? Oh well. That's what happens when you fight a jumping bean.
COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Kim with Phoenix Fury.
[ \\\\ < > //////////// ]
Kim 1/-----==/=======|=------\-------\0 Daigo
Kim visibly winces as the big man steps right through his punch, knowing
full-well that he wouldn't do so unless he planned on ending the match right
then and there. He tries to bring his hands back in time to defend against the
first strike, but he's too slow, and Daigo catches him in the gut with a
powerful punch, doubling the smaller man over. Having the wind knocked out of
him, the korean man has no chance of protecting himself against the brutal
flurry of blows that follows - punches and kicks raining down on his already
battered body, knocking the energy right out of his frame.
When the last punch lands, Kim goes -flying- backwards from the impact, easily
clearing a few dozen feet before slamming back down onto the ground. His leg
twitching out involuntarily, the TKD master's breath comes in short, shallow
bursts - eyes open, but with a glassy, dazed look in them.. by the looks of
things, that combination took out what little fight he had left in him.
COMBATSYS: Kim takes no action.
COMBATSYS: Kim can no longer fight.
COMBATSYS: Kim has left the fight here.
The fury unleashed, Daigo seems ready to rumble again. He's already drawn back
into a defensive posture after sending Kim flying, advancing slowly so as not to
take any chances. It's only when he gets up closer, close enough to see through
the haze that his eye has to stare through, that he notes Kim's inability to
continue the battle. Daigo frowns...
..but the crowd's cheering...
The elder Kazama, relaxing out of his battle stance, moves instead to heft Kim
up, and cart the honorable fighter back out of the arena, towards the nurses
sector. Another fight, over. "..You did well, kid. Better luck next time." he
mumbles to the mostly-unconscious TKD master.
Match over. Winner: Daigo Kazama.
