Description: Kim Kaphwan proves that Justice triumphs in the battle against crime. (Winner: Kim/Justice High)
Athletic Field
Justice High's athletic field is nothing so large as Taiyo Dome or so
spacious as Pacific High's beachfront property, but just like everything else
at Justice, it's of the highest quality. There are no football, baseball, or
soccer fields here. Instead, there are tennis courts, strips of concrete for
fencing, racquetball courts, archery ranges, and so on. If it's a sport
enjoyed by the elite, it can be found here.
The audience isn't nearly as packed today as it has been in previous
fights - perhaps owing to the early hour at which the bout is taking place..
but there's a larger number of Justice High students and teachers observing
than in any of the other matches. It's no wonder why, as one of the school's
two representatives - and the only one in the first tier - is fighting
today.
"Ladies and gentlemen, introducing first, representing Justice High,
the leader of Korea's national martial arts team.. Kim Kaphwan!"
As he enters the arena, one might expect that the Justice students
would rise up out of their seat and start whooping and hollering - but, of
course, they do not, instead content to sit calmly and clap politely.
They're a bit too disciplined and high-class to pull the whole British
Soccer Riot act when their representative steps out into view - the Korean
man grinning broadly as he steps into the arena and begins to turn, waving
to the crowd. He makes sure that everyone in the audience gets a chance to
see him clearly, and he continues to showboat even as his opponent is
announced. He's dressed in his usual white-and-blue Tae Kwon Do gi, and he
seems to be even more upbeat than usual, practically jumping around the
fighting ring as he awaits the arrival of Cody.
"And his opponent, representing Gedo High, all the way from Metro City
and the antidote to the city's gang problem... Cody Dalton!"
The Justice High students may be disciplined too much to flip out upon
the arrival of the man fighting on their behalf, but the students of Gedo
certainly aren't, and as the announcement starts the majority of them leap
to their feet, cheering, roaring, and generally making as much noise as they
possibly can, in support of both their school and - though not nearly as
much - Cody himself.
Speaking of Cody himself, he either has testicles the size of
grapefruits or is very stupid. Not only was he recently broken out of prison
- AGAIN - but he has shown up at a very highly publicized event, made his
presence in it quite clearly known, and has now gone so far to show up at
his fight in his prisoner's garb, complete with long-chained handcuffs.
Despite his gimmicky appearance, however, he doesn't make much effort to
showboat save for slowly raising his hand upon stepping into the ring and
flashing the Horns.
The purpose for this isn't quite clear, but it at least draws more
cheers from the Gedo crowd.
Kim Kaphwan knows all about his opponent - or at least, as much as the
general public does. He knows about his criminal past, and the fact that he
was arrested recently only to bust out again, but he also knows that Cody is
partially responsible for the shattering of the Mad Gear gang that held
Metro City in it's grip. It's proof that the law does not necessarily equal
justice - and despite the man's.. odd choice of garment, the last thing that
Kim is going to do is treat the man like a criminal.
After allowing his opponent to showboat a little bit - using the time
to loosen himself up with a few roundhouse kicks and triphammer punches,
followed by an impressive backflip - the Korean man places a fist in his
palm and bows low to Cody. "An honour to meet you. Despite your problems
with the law, I believe you to be a good man, and I wish you luck - in this
fight, and after it."
"Same to you, dude," responds Cody, after a slight pause at the backflipping
man's strangely formal speech pattern. "I figure one of us is gonna need
the luck, yeah? Anyways... ready when you are," he announces, stretching his
arms into the air once and then dropping back into a ready position. "Is
there a bell or something?"
*Ding, ding!*
Well, that was.. convenient. Mere seconds after Cody's question, a bell
sounds out, signalling the beginning of the match - it brings a chuckle from
the Korean man. "I guess that's a 'yes'," he remarks with a grin, before
stepping towards his opponent. Despite the fact that he harbors no ill will
against this man, he's taking the match as seriously as he would any other -
he doesn't want to let the students and staff of Justice High down by being
defeated in the first round. Since the man gave him the option of first
attack, he's more than willing to take it, starting off the fight with a
long stride towards Cody, planting his foot in the ground and launching
himself up into the air. As he hurtles towards the fugitive, his feet
'pedalling' through the air - Liu-Kang style! Only without the stupid
yelling.
COMBATSYS: Kim has started a fight here.
COMBATSYS: Cody has joined the fight here.
COMBATSYS: Cody dodges Kim's Hishou Kyaku.
The combat system is lying to you. Cody doesn't exactly 'dodge' as much
as he simply kicks Kim's fancy martial arts right in the proverbial nuts.
Initially, he backs away from the crazy bicycle kick, but after a moment he
gets what the Americans like to call a 'Goddamn Brilliant Idea' and suddenly
breaks into a run forwards, leaping into the air as he nears the
forward-moving Korean and attempting to quite unceremoniously glide over the
crazy kick and plant his foot onto Kim's chest, and ride him down into the
ground at the speed of rad, just like stepping on a bug.
Except the bug is moving forward really fast and is very big and Korean.
COMBATSYS: Kim blocks Cody's Guilty Stamp.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////////////////////// ]
Kim 0/-------/------=|-------\-------\0 Cody
As the man leaps over his bicycle kick with a counter-attack of his
own, Kim is able to move his hands in the way of the man's foott -
preventing him from striking his chest directly, although he is still forced
down to the ground with a solid *thud*. His skilled block is the only reason
he doesn't have a boot-mark imprinted in his ribcage right now, and he's
quick to flip back to his feet once Cody jumps off his chest - looking none
the worse for wear. Hopping lightly on his well-trained feet, the Korean man
offers his opponent a grin and a compliment - "Not bad at all, my friend."
And what do friends do? Why, they kick eachother in the face! And
that's precisely what the TKD master looks to do right now, planting one
foot on the ground and spinning quickly on the ball of said foot - bringing
his other leg on a collision course with Cody's jaw.
COMBATSYS: Cody dodges Kim's Heavy Kick.
Whoa there Benny.
As the kick comes in Cody snaps his hands up and latches one onto the
Korean's ankle and the other onto his calf. After just a moment to brace
himself and let the kick's force burn itself out harmlessly into his waiting
arms, he gives a grunt, spins about, and attempts to merrily throw Kim
across the arena by the leg.
COMBATSYS: Kim blocks Cody's Medium Throw.

Kim 0/-------/-----==|-------\-------\0 Cody
wtf is a Benny?
When his kick is caught in the air by his opponent, Kim knows that he's
about to go on a bit of a trip, and so he braces himself as best he can. It
appears to work, as he twists his body in mid-air and lands on both palms -
preventing himself from striking the ground face-first and saving himself a
lot of pain. Pushing himself back to his feet, the Korean man raises one
hand and points his index finger at Cody - the same grin still plastered on
his face. He says nothing, but his message is obvious.
Bring it on, boy.
COMBATSYS: Kim focuses on his next action.
Cody's been around the block - the, uh, the one where people get punched
in the face, not that other one - a few times, and he's not about to let Kim
choose when and where the enter into what I understand the kids are calling
'a duel of the fizzates.'
As such he does not move forward when gestured, but instead drops down
into a crouch, squinting at the Korean. After a moment, he scoops up a rock
off the ground-- wait, what? There aren't even any rocks on this arena,
where the hell did he get that?
Obviously, he has the magic power to SUMMON ROCKS or something, I don't
really know. The point is, he has a rock now, and as he scoops it up he
leaps to his feet and launches it at Kim in a wicked-looking overhand throw.
COMBATSYS: Kim endures Cody's Bad Stone.
When Cody bends the fabric of the space-time continuum to create a rock
in the previously clandestine arena ring, Kim begins to rush towards him -
meeting the thrown stone head on, catching it in the chest dead-on. The
force of the ex-con's throw causes him to stumble to a stop, but it's only
temporary - in the world of projectiles, Cody certainly ain't no Ryu.
Resuming his swift pace, the Korean man rushes down his opponent, waiting
until he's mere feet away from the man before executing a backflip - while
still running, the momentum carrying him forward as he holds out both his
legs. As he flips, the two feet fly upwards, coming up to crack Cody
underneath the chin. Unless he dodges, like a goddamn.. dodger.
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Cody with Hangetsu Zan.
- Power hit! -

Kim 0/-------/-======|=====--\-------\0 Cody
You can almost hear Cody's jaw dislocate as the kick hits and he goes
flying a good fifteen feet into the air, spinning about clumsily before
crashing down to the ground in a heap. He's back up pretty quickly, however,
and even takes a moment to crack his jaw back into place.
"Nice one," he calls out, and then bursts into a run, charging the
recovering Kim. As he nears him he quite abruptly stops running and snaps a
kick out at about chest height with his right foot.
Despite the ceasing of activity, however, he keeps moving, sliding
forward through sheer momentum.
COMBATSYS: Kim blocks Cody's Ruffian Kick.
CRACK.
That sort of strike might've caused some reaction with the crowd, had
Cody been the one delivering it.. but those who are here to cheer on Kim
today are far too, well, decent to completely lose their shit over a simply
crescent kick, even one so painful-looking. Instead, another polite round of
applause sounds out from the Justice High students in the arena, barely
audible over the chorus of boos and jeers that sound out from the rowdier
Gedo kids.
Once he's back on his feet, Kim waits for his opponent to do the same,
using the time that it takes to wave to the crowd. But once Cody is back up,
he's all business - a look of concentration coming over his face once again
as he prepares to defend against the man's incoming attack. As the kick
lashes out towards his chest, Kim's palm is there to catch it - the impact
forcing him back a half-step, but not accomplishing much more than that. His
hand latching out to grab onto the bottom of Cody's pants, the Korean man
reaches out with his other hand to grab onto his shoulder - if successful, a
sudden shift in momentum is all it takes to bring the ex-con slamming down
onto the arena floor.
COMBATSYS: Cody blocks Kim's Sakkyaku Nage.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////////// ]
Kim 1/-------/=======|=======\-------\0 Cody
~whump~ Cody goes down, though not nearly as hard as previously, and he
even manages to get an arm up to buffer his face and the floor. All the trip
does is elicit a grunt of pain, though it at least does appear to have
dizzied him a little bit.
Strangely, however, he doesn't appear to be too rapidly trying to get
loose. In fact, he's talking! "Sorry, dude. It's nothing personal," he
informs his opponent.
The reason quickly becomes clear as there's the ~fwikt~ of a switchblade
opening. Cody has withdrawn said knife from somewhere on his person,
apparently, and is currently attempting to stab it quite forcefully into
Kaphwan's shoulder.
COMBATSYS: Cody successfully hits Kim with Tokushu Koudou.
The last thing Kim was expecting in this fight was a concealed weapon -
and the fact that his opponent jams one in his shoulder is enough for him to
think that, perhaps, Cody wasn't as good a guy as he had previously thought.
Sure, he may have helped to all but destroy one of the biggest gangs in the
United States, but anyone who brings a knife to a fist-fight has some issues
with honour. As the blade is stabbed into his shoulder - eliciting a
surprised grunt from the Korean man - he steps back from the ex-con
immediately. Looking at the crimson that slowly begins to stain his
pure-white TKD gi, Kim's grin fades from his face - "Huh. You can take the
man out of the prison, but you can't take the prison out of the man, can
you?"
Personal or not, the fact that he now has a knife stuck into his
shoulder - something that he doesn't immediately move to pull out - is
enough to force Kim to bring this fight to the next level. But first, he
holds his stance a few feet away from the man, arms held up in a defensive
position as he narrows his eyes. "You're going to regret that. Nothing
personal."
COMBATSYS: Kim focuses on his next action.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ////////////////// ]
Kim 1/----===/=======|=======\-------\1 Cody
"Of course," agrees Cody, rolling backwards and to his feet. "All's fair
in love and shitbeating, right?" With a grin, he drops back into his
fighting stance, rolls his shoulders around, and begins attempting to call
up the old lessons Guy gave him about 'focusing his Chi' or whatever the
shit.
"I'm going to want my knife back, by the way."
COMBATSYS: Cody focuses on his next action.
If Kim were less morally-restricted, he might rip the knife out of his
shoulder and put it straight through Cody's eye - or toss the object,
blade-first, back at him. But he's not going to resort to using weapons,
even if he opponent did so first. Instead, he moves his right hand up to his
shoulder, grabbing the hilt of the knife, and - closing his eyes in
preparation for the pain - pulls it out of his flesh, causing the blood to
flow much more freely. This, quite naturally, brings even more cheers and
whoops from those damn Gedo punks - they didn't expect to see some
goody-good get stabbed.. hell, this is turning out to be pretty entertaining
for the kids.
"Here, take it.." says Kim, holding out the knife, handle-first, so
that Cody can take it back. One might expect it to be a set-up for an
attack, but the Korean man is completely honest - and if the ex-con reaches
for the foreign object, he will find that he is able to grab it without
being kicked in the head. Naturally, that doesn't prevent Kim from doing so
-after- he grabs the knife, stepping forward with two spinning roundhouses,
followed by a powerful axe-kick that he brings down onto Cody's shoulder.
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Cody with Sanren Geki.
- Power hit! -
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////// ]
Kim 1/--=====/=======|=======\===----\1 Cody
Cody does, in fact, step forward and accept the knife. And then he's
kicked SUPER HARD. So super hard, in fact, that the final axe kick causes
his left shoulder to pop loudly and the accompanying arm to go limp, the
fighter dropping down onto his knees.
"Heh... that's karma for you," grunts Cody, slowly tossing away the
recovered knife with his non-f'd up hand and climbing to his feet. "That's
gonna... leave a mark, looks like. Guess I'm going to have to... use my
FEET!"
That sharp increase in volume at the end comes as Cody suddenly bursts
into action, spinning about at an amazing speed, ducking down as he does so
and coming up with a sharp uppercut. PSYCHE.
But wait, it gets worse! Behind the punch comes a large whirlwind, about
as tall as Kim (if Choi happened to be standing on his shoulders at the
time) and laced with thin lines of blue chi, bursting into existence around
the Korean and threatening to engulf him.
COMBATSYS: Kim interrupts Criminal Upper from Cody with Hou'ou Kyaku.
Stepping back after his shoulder-dislocating axe kick, Kim's grin
returns briefly - "Let's call that even, Cody."
When his opponent comes rushing in with an uppercut, Kim moves back in
to meet him - launching out with an attack of his own mere seconds before
the Criminal Upper is let off. Although he is engulfed by the painful blue
chi, the resilient Korean man is able to force his way past it - shoving the
ex-con back a step and following in with a leaping-kick. It's only the
beginning of a very painful combination, Kim using the initial attack as a
way of knocking his opponent off-guard for a moment, allowing him to follow
up with what could only be called a brutal kick combo. His feet flying
through the air with remarkable speed and a skill that comes from a
life-time of practice in the art of Tae Kwon Do, he seems to unload on the
Gedo representative with everything in his array of kicks. To finish off,
Kim raises his leg high up into the air before bringing it crashing down
once again - this time on the man's uninjured shoulder. Sure, he could go
for the one he already fuxxored, but that would just be.. unfair.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///// ]
Kim 0/-------/--=====|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2 Cody
~POP~ And there goes Cody's other arm, at the end of said brutal kick
combo - and it is decidedly so - which succeeds quite spectacularly in
driving Cody backwards and, finally, dropping him to the ground.
He's not out yet, though, climbing slowly and hazily to his feet, arms
dangling limply at his sides. "See," he says slowly, in between deep, ragged
breaths. "Now you've gone and... made me have to get all serious."
Right, okay. Focus chi, right. Okay. That's totally easy. Just focus on
moving them back into place. Can't be that hard, or that ba-OH JESUS! The
resounding crack that erupts from Cody's shoulders as he forcefully
relocates his arms is accompanied by a brutal scream and a sudden gust of
wind. It may be of pain, but it's still impressive.
It doesn't stop there, however, as the ex-con takes a stiff step forward
and continues roaring, lifting up his arms and pulling at the handcuffs
binding his wrists. After a moment of said pulling, the chain bursts apart,
and when it does, time seems to momentarily pause, a burst of shining blue
light engulfing the man's upheld hands.
And then time's back, and Cody's lunging forward, trailing blue afterimages
closing the distance between him and Kim in a very short amount of time.
When he gets there, still roaring, he draws back and delivers one totally
brutal punch right into Kim's Kim.
Nevermind that this is followed by roughly a shit ton of other, almost as
brutal punches, topped off with a shoulder throw directly into the ground.
That first blow was totally the highlight.
COMBATSYS: Cody successfully hits Kim with Final Destruction.
Holy FUCK. But we'll get to that later.
After finishing the axe-kick, Kim flips backwards to avoid any
immediate counter-attacks.. but it appears as though Cody isn't in any shape
to launch another offensive, or at least not -right- after the brutal
combination of kicks. After all, he needs to get his shoulders back in their
sockets first, and Kim gives him the opportunity to do so. Sure, he could
probably attack right now and end it, but it wouldn't be a victory that he
would be proud of.
A noble gesture, but it ultimately ends up costing him - Cody's first
lunging punch striking him right in the motherfucking Kim (of all places)
and knocking him off his balance. It leaves him totally defenseless against
the remainder of the blows that follows. As the ex-con grabs him for a
shoulder toss, Kim lets out a sudden 'hiii-yah!', letting loose with a solid
punch directly towards the man's jaw, before he is slammed onto the arena
floor. Looking up at the morning sky above, the Korean man simply lays on
the ground - making no movement.. he can't let Justice High down.. he can't
be beaten so easily..
COMBATSYS: Kim has reached second wind!
COMBATSYS: Cody dodges Kim's Strong Punch.
[ \\\\\\ < > ///// ]
Kim 0/-------/---====|====---\-------\0 Cody
With a sudden, renewed burst of energy, the TKD master suddenly flips
to his feet - to a chorus of awed gasps from both the Gedo and Justice High
students. They thought he was down and out after Cody's last combo, but Kim
has a lot more in him than that.. just ask anyone who's ever fought him.
"It's not over yet.. Cody."
Cody, still on his OMG CHECK OUT THAT MAX high, twists easily out of the
way of the desperate punch as he slams Kim to the ground and then staggers
away, turning about to face his downed opponent and then dropping to his
knees. He looks very, very upset when he gets back up. "Well, _shit._"
He's not about to just CONCEDE, however, so he climbs back to his feet
shakily, takes a moment to catch his balance, and then advances slowly
forward, going into an almost _painfully_ slow and deliberate left-handed
blow...
In the middle of which he jabs his right hand out very quickly at Kim's
jaw. lolz fake'd
COMBATSYS: Cody successfully hits Kim with Jab Punch.
It's an entirely too obvious fake.. and Kim should be smart enough not
to fall for it. But, at least he has an excuse, having just been on the
receiving end of a combination that would put most people on the ground..
and keep them there. But not the resilient Korean man, who makes a move to
block the left-handed blow, only to catch the jab straight in the jaw - to
his credit, his head barely moves under the impact of the strike. Wanting to
take advantage of his second wind and stay on the offensive, he moves
forward towards the ex-con - not needing any time to recover from the weak
punch - and plants a foot in the ground, thrusting out with a kick towards
the man's stomach.
"Hii-YAH!"
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Cody with Heavy Kick.
[ \\\\\\\ < > / ]
Kim 0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0 Cody
WHUMP. The kick connects quite solidly, and Cody stumbles backwards
dazedly, dropping down onto one knee and leaning down to support himself
with an arm. "Oofgh," he rasps. "There goes... my last kidney. I was saving
that one for... a special occasion..."
He doesn't quite collapse yet, however. Could he still have some fight
left in him, much as Kim did?
COMBATSYS: Cody takes no action.
COMBATSYS: Cody has reached second wind!
Backing away once the kick lands, Kim cracks a slight grin as he
watches his opponent drop to one knee - something tells him that now isn't
the time to celebrate, though. Surely the man who brought Mad Gear to it's
knees has more in him than that, and the Korean man isn't disappointed when
he watches Cody recover from the kick.
"So.. onto round two, I take it?" he says, chuckling lightly as he
keeps a few steps back from the man - allowing him the opportunity to
recover and take the next attack.
COMBATSYS: Kim focuses on his next action.
[ \\\\\\\ < > /// ]
Kim 0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0 Cody
Yes. Yes he could. Slowly, Cody rises back to his feet and hold out one
arm, gesturing towards Kim. "Hold on to your ass, ass holder," he warns,
loudly. "I'm about to get my huge on."
And get his huge on he does, bouncing about on the balls of his feet for
a moment before rushing forward, attempting to quite simply slam into Kim
with an outstretched arm and clothesline the man to the ground.
COMBATSYS: Kim parries Cody's Fierce Punch!
Cody's remarks bring a puzzled stare from the Korean man - who doesn't
reply, or at least, not before he lashes out with his right hand. Aiming for
the man's incoming wrist, Kim manages to deflect the punch away from him,
throwing his opponent off-balance and giving him the opportunity to finish
the fight, here and now.
And he plans on taking the opportunity - stepping to the side to give
himself a little bit of distance, the TKD master swings at Cody's jaw with a
powerful punch of his own. He's not as proficient with his fists as he is
with his feet, but he finds it only fitting that he respond to Cody's
attempted punch with a potentially brutal haymaker.
"You missed."
COMBATSYS: Cody blocks Kim's Strong Punch.
[ \\\\\\\\\\ < > / ]
Kim 0/-------/------=|=======\-------\1 Cody
Cody manages to recover from the missed clothesline fast enough to get
his arms up and lock up Kim's, turning the almost certainly fight-ending
haymaker into simply a rough jolt - one that's still quite devastating to
the fatigued Cody, mind you.
"Oops."
With a grunt, the ex-con breaks the lockup, stepping backwards and then
leaping into the air, twisting about - at the peak of the jump's height,
there's a period of timefreezing and a blue flash similar to the one
earlier, albeit smaller in scale.
Aaand time's back and Cody drops like a rock, trailing blue afterimages
and attempting to return Kim's favors from earlier by landing a double
jumping axe kick on him, one kick to each shoulder.
It is essentially a badass seatdrop.
COMBATSYS: Kim parries Cody's Dead End Irony!
Losing just isn't an option to Kim - certainly not in the first round,
and definitely not when he's the only representative of Justice High in the
first tier. It just wouldn't be right for the most elite school in the
country to be knocked out of the tournament so early, especially not to
someone fighting for Gedo. He respects Cody's skills, but prison-yard
brawling is no match against a well-polished, trained-since-childhood Tae
Kwon Do master.
As the ex-con comes dropping towards him, Kim raises his hands to grab
hold of the man's.. well.. ass - holding him up in mid-air and stopping his
move dead in it's tracks.
"Ooops." SLAM.
COMBATSYS: Kim successfully hits Cody with Quick Throw.
[ \\\\\\\\\\ < > ]
Kim 0/-------/----===|=------\-------\0 Cody
Cody's been on a roll up until today- when all of a sudden the tide
shifted so violently against him- and he absolutely refuses to go down
easily, even if it means getting a little dirty. It is as such that, having
been slammed to the ground, he feigns relaxation, his entire body going
limp, asif he has been defeated...
And then he abruptly cracks one foot up at Kim's groin, very very hard
and very very fast. And then his body actually DOES go limp.
Maybe.
COMBATSYS: Cody successfully hits Kim with Strong Kick.
Slamming his opponent into the ground, Kim watches the man's body for a
moment - it looks like he's not making any movement, and so he assumes that
he's won the bout. And so does the crowd, the previously reserved Justice
High students actually standing up as it appears as though their
representative has won this first-round bout - clapping loudly, and some of
the more daring students even hooting and hollering as their school once
again proves it's superiority over Gedo High.
And then Kim gets kicked right in the junk, which causes the
non-Justice students to break out in laughter, as the Korean man gets a
sudden look of pain on his face. Doubling over, Kim's vision starts to go
black from the sheer agony of the low-blow - for a second, it looks as
though it might be a double KO..
COMBATSYS: Kim takes no action.
COMBATSYS: Kim has reached third wind!
But no, the TKD master suddenly straightens his back, and takes a
cautious step away from his defeated foe. Still cradling his groin with one
hand, Kim nevertheless cracks a broad grin as he bows to the audience - many
of which are chanting "Justice! Justice! Justice!".. Naturally, the Gedo
kids throw in "Sucks! Sucks! Sucks" afterwards, but who really gives a damn
about them?
After a minute of rest, the defeated Cody climbs shakily to his feet and
takes a step towards Kim before offering the victor of the match a hand.
"That was pretty rad," he admits. "Even if I did lose. Good fight, yeah?
And... sorry about the, you know, knife. And the low blow. Like I said,
all's fair in love and war... besides, wanted to give the kids a good show,
right?"
Kim isn't planning on leaving the arena without offering his opponent
some final words. As Cody shakily gets back to his feet, the Korean man bows
low to him, before stepping forward and accepting the much more American
gesture of a handshake. "You are truly skilled. I see now why Mad Gear fears
you so, you are a great warrior of justice.." he says, before making a vague
allusion to the man's criminal past, "..When it suits you."
No mention is made of the knife, or the low-blow. If that's the way
Cody wants to fight, Kim has no say in it, despite his disapproval of such
under-handed tactics. Needless to say, he doesn't share the 'alls fair in
love and war' outlook that the Metro City man does.
"Sounds about right," Cody agrees, giving Kim as firm a handshake as he
can manage in his battered state. "Your last name's... Kaphwan, right? Maybe
I'll look you up if I'm ever in... uh, Vietnam or wherever, we can go to
lunch or something. Or, hell, look me up if you're ever in Metro. I'm
usually around the slums. We'll beat up some gangsters, it'll be great."
GRIN.
"Yes, Kaphwan. And you're Cody Dalton, if I heard correctly, yes?" The
man's confusion between Korea and Vietnam brings a small chuckle from
between Kim's lips, although it's not meant to be mocking the man's
ignorance. "Korea. If you're ever in Seoul, ask someone where to find the
Kaphwan Dojo, most people know where it is." He says this with no arrogance
in his voice, however - simple fact.. most people in Korea know, and admire,
Kim. And nearly everyone in Seoul knows the location of his home/dojo, even
though most of them are polite enough not to intrude on his personal life by
actually going there. "And if I am ever in Metro City, I shall seek you out.
It would be an honour to battle injustice with one of America's greatest
heroes!"
"Korea, right. -- Yeah, well... I hope you get to do that someday," says
Cody, strangely grimly, to Kim's last statement. "See you around."
His INNER TURMOIL almost palpable, Cody turns around and hobbles out of
the arena, waving to the crowd as he does so and slowing only to remove the
remnants of his handcuffs and throw them into the area where the Gedo kids
are sitting, so a couple of them can at least get some souveneirs, if
nothing else.
Kim remains in the arena for a while longer, to bask in the assorted
cheers and claps coming from his supporters - his grin making it look as
though he's completely oblivious to the people booing his victory. After
all, they're just mad because they're not uber-elite like the Justice High
kids! Eventually, the Korean man seems to be finished his bowing, waving and
posing to the crowd.
"The winner of this match, and advancing to Round Two.. Kim Kaphwan,
representing Justice High!"
With his victory finally announced, Kim begins to walk out of the
