Schools Tourney - [T1R1] Daigo vs Megumi

Description: Daigo's school spirit is mighty. (Winner: Daigo/Gedo High)

The Schools Tournament was announced.  Daigo, recieved the pairings at Gedo
High.  Some of the names surprised him.  Cody, fighting for Gedo?  He'll have
to come by that match...  Leona's name was there.  And then, his match.
Against someone he's met a few times, without having the pleasure of a spar.
Now we come to the Justice High Athletic Arena, the site of the future fights.
Now Daigo appears to be getting more than a mere spar out of the other
school-aged student.

Daigo's already there, of course, the stands full of kids from both schools,
though the Gedo ones are hooting and hollaring like their lives depended on it.
Mention a school contest, and Gedo feels they have something to prove.
Something Daigo is very keen on doing.  He believes his school to have the most
spirit, the most unified team spirit of all, and the moral support should be
enough to see any Gedo fighter to victory.  Especially when that victory will,
ultimately, be over Justice High...

Every tournament has to start somewhere, though, and Daigo shall respect each
and every fighter that crosses his path.  Especially the ones he's befriended
in one form or another.  Thus, he waits, on the field, watching the crowd
filter in, and waiting for Megumi to show up so they can get their round of
battle out of the way.  For better, or for worse.

Megumi didn't keep Daigo waiting too long. A taxi let her off at Justice High,
and while she seemed rather apprehensive of this place...she showed up,
eventually finding her way to the field. And she finds Daigo pretty easily,
given his stature. "Was wondering when I'd get into a stereotype match. Fast
girl versus big powerful guy. Had to happen sooner or later."

But for all her observations about the kind of fight, she's relaxed and even
waves to Daigo. "Hey, been a while. How's Akira doin'?"

Stereotypical fight?  Hmph.  Daigo scoffs at the stereotype!  Even if he is
one!  But he didn't really hear that part of Megumi's talking, so he doesn't
respond to it.  Waiting merely until she takes up space in front of him, and
waves.  The Gedo Boss waves back, cracking a hint of a smile.

"Megumi.  It's been a while, yeah.  Last I checked, Akira was doing fine.
Haven't been able to catch up to her lately though.  ..I guess I couldn't be
the perfect big brother forever, eh?"  Soft chuckle, Daigo relaxing his arms to
let them hang at his sides.  "...You ready to do this?"

Megumi takes the time to start twisting one of her wrists around in her other
hand, lean low to the ground one way, lean low the other way...a quick
stretch-out by any other name and method. "Now, whataya mean by that? 'Perfect
big brother.' That doesn't make much sense to go wondering about that." She's
done stretching pretty quickly, because nobody really wants to see someone
spend ten, fifteen minutes on that. "Ready, though? Yeah, I'm ready."

She rises up to full height (which really isn't that impressive), bringing her
hands up in front of her in that same Aiki-stance she takes up before every
fight...and then completely abandons a second or two later. "I came to win, so
you know. I'm going to be serious."

"I wouldn't expect anything less." Daigo states solomnly.  He's always taken
his fighting seriously.  Especially in a tournament where schools are involved!
"If you didn't come to fight at your best, I would have hoped you wouldn't
have come at all.  Show me what you're made of."

Daigo then slips into his own combat stance, widening his legs, and raising his
hands in a typical 'boxer' formation.  "...And I'll show you Gedo's spirit."
He is, at least, kind enough to let Megumi have the first attack.  Ladies
first, and all that.

COMBATSYS: Daigo has started a fight here.
COMBATSYS: Megumi has joined the fight here.

Megumi flicks a wrist off to her side now that Daigo is also ready. With a
quick, very short yell (Coming out more like 'Hnph!'), she's running towards
her opponent. Well, running...and then diving towards him, Superman style.
"Spiral..." Sure enough, her body begins corkscrewing through the air, right
fist in front of her as sparkling red energy covers it. "Knuckle!" Her fist is
on a crash-course with Daigo's chest, and her other hand is poised to try and
let her land in a hand-stand if she connects.

COMBATSYS: Megumi successfully hits Daigo with Crimson Spiral Knuckle.

A powerful first strike!  Daigo narrows his eyes once Megumi launches her first
attack, dashing, and then diving at him with that aptly-named attack.  Did he
have time to defend himself?  It's unsure.  The twisting way of Megumi's body
is what likely broke through the normally solid defense Daigo can conjure up,
leaving him wide open to recieve a solid fist to the chest.  Pushing the big
man back with a soft grunt.  A very nice starter!

"Hmph...  Nice hit." Daigo compliments, easing himself back to the defensive
hunch, though with the good comes the bad.  The bad, being when Daigo steps
forward to deliver a counter-blow, a swift left-jab that leads straight into a
powerful right cross.  Seeking to return the favor, and knock Megumi back a
step.  Or five.

COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Megumi with 1-2 Smash.

Megumi           0/-------/---====|===----\-------\0            Daigo

Megumi lands in her handspring, and jumps into the air using her hands,
flipping upright...straight into the path of Daigo's fists. She tries to bridge
backwads to let them go high, but it's done a split-second too late; the jab
connects with her side, and the right just sends her plowing to the ground.
Daigo. Hits. Hard. There was no staggering phase, just *BAM*, and then she's
floored.

It's a good pair of hits, but it's also only the first two she's taken so far.
Megumi handsprings back up, with nothing to say back to Daigo's compliment. No,
she has other things on her mind. Flipping towards Daigo, she tries to wrap her
legs around his head, and continue to flip past him to take him to the ground.
Should she get it, she'll quickly roll backwards over him, and then lie down by
his side to grab an arm and apply an arm-bar technique to it...

COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Megumi's Storm Hold.

Megumi           0/-------/--=====|====---\-------\0            Daigo

Yet, Daigo has felt legs attempt to do wierd things to his neck before,
courtesy of people like Balrog, and so this technique is only partly
successful.  Daigo is, indeed, drug to the ground, landing with a meaty *thud*,
but once she attempts to apply the arm-bar technique, Daigo makes his own move
to try and simply toss Megumi off of him.

That's assuming he can get a good hold on her, of course.

COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Megumi with Quick Throw.

[          \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////////      ]
Megumi           0/-------/=======|====---\-------\0            Daigo

Megumi finds her arm-bar attempt failed by Daigo being pretty ready for it. She
also finds herself being hefted up in mid-attempt, and try as she might to
break out of Daigo's grip, the solution comes too late to her mind. She gets
sent up and back, landing roughly on her head. That probably hurt, that
/definitely/ hurt, but she rolls out of it smoothly, immediately on her feet
after the impact.

"Okay, so only one half of this stereotype's working..." Of course, the
slightly woozy look Megumi takes up from that indicates the roll-out was
smooth, but did not leave her unharmed. Her hands set in front of her, a bright
sparkling red ball forming between them and anchoring to her right hand. She
leans backward, hand coming behind her head...and then with a loud cry, she
leans way forward and flings the sphere at Daigo.

COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Megumi's Crimson Comet.

As Megumi takes a moment to get up and recover from being tossed, so does Daigo
get back to his feet, ready to keep the fight moving.  "Beware of stereotypes,
for they aren't always accurate." Daigo notes, quietly, maybe even with a bit
of a cocky smirk, both of his arms already up and ready to absorb the mighty
impact of a crimson sphere.  Energy, exploding against those muscle-toned
forearms of the elder Kazama, sending swirls of energy to make his coat blow
around a bit before it ends.

Now Daigo has a little bit of ground to catch up.  Two or three hops forward
ought to do that, Daigo continuing his attempts to keep the pressure on Megumi
with nothing more than a quick left jab at her forehead.  To the croud, it
would almost look like a thump.  "Come on, Megumi.  You've got more spirit than
this.  Show me you /want/ to defend your school's honor!"

Megumi           1/-------/=======|=====--\-------\0            Daigo

COMBATSYS: Megumi dodges Daigo's Jab Punch.

A painful thump, really. When his fist is nearly as big as Megumi's head, she's
quick to shift aside to avoid it, and actually succeeds this time. As the jab
shoots by, she tries to grab its associated arm. "It's nothing that simple, you
know...too easy to summarize the winner as who has more honor, don't ya think?"
As she makes the grab, Megumi takes a pivoting sidestep to try and trip Daigo
to the ground. If she gets it, she'll apply a wrist-lock against that hand. A
simple takedown and submission hold, though how well she gets it going given
the size differences involved is anyone's guess.

COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Megumi's Strong Throw.

[           \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////          ]
Megumi           1/-------/=======|=======\-------\0            Daigo

Once again, the hold only works partway, sending Daigo to the ground in a heap,
but the Kazama managing to wrest his wrist away mid-fall.  Wasting no time, he
no sooner touches the ground than he tries to rise right back up to his feet,
rising a fist right up with him.  His right fist, flaring up with his signature
Phoenix chi, aiming for a nice warm spot in Megumi's gut.

"I didn't say the one with the most honor wins.  I said show me your spirit for
your school!  Your fighting spirit!"

COMBATSYS: Megumi dodges Daigo's Phoenix Fist.

Megumi makes a diving roll low and to the side as Daigo rises with his burning
uppercut, getting out of the way in a close call. Close, but safe. "So in other
words, if I don't lay you out flat with the kind of hits you're doing, it's not
spirit? Ya seem kind of disappointed that I'm not hitting as hard as you."
Getting up, she flicks her wrist off to the side, that red sparkling energy
flowing along her hand, up her arm, down her chest, hips, legs, and ending on
her feet.

Megumi jumps at Daigo feet-first, though as she descends towards him, the
energy on her feet lances out to go ahead of her. It stops a few inches short
of Daigo, expanding into a spinning, massive cone; the tip is pointed at Daigo,
and the open end is large enough for Megumi to fit into. That's the plan, as
she lands in the cone, which causes it to resume forward movement in an effort
to slam right through Daigo.

COMBATSYS: Daigo blocks Megumi's Exceed Charge.

[           \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////               ]
Megumi           0/-------/------=|=======\=------\1            Daigo

"You're hitting plenty hard." Daigo grunts, the energy vortex of Megumi's next
attack starting up, wind whipping around, those trained arms of Daigo's coming
together to attempt to block.  A good attempt, as the energy merely stings at
him, knocking him back enough that the end of Megumi's charge is able to be
deflected, though not without some effort.  That was a most impressive attack!
"...And that's NOT what I meant!" Daigo says, over the rushing energy as it
dies out.

Again, Daigo's response isn't so flashy as the chi-empowered attack Megumi's
using, taking a single step forward, then sweeping his other leg out to try and
knock Megumi off her feet for a moment.  "I merely said I knew you could do
better.  And look!  You're proving me right.  Keep it up!"

COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Megumi with Light Kick.

[              \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////               ]
Megumi           0/-------/---====|=======\==-----\1            Daigo

Megumi lands, clearly a little tired from flinging that much energy around just
now. And because of it, she makes a mistake; she tries to stay point-blank with
Daigo. Just as his arms came up to stop her diving kick, Megumi's arms raise to
block Daigo's kick. Well, that'd work if he was kicking high; she mis-reads his
motions and is instead swept to the ground hard, her legs smarting from it.
Even mild strikes from this man hurt a great deal. And so Megumi does not
spring back up as she did earlier, as if it didn't affect her.

No, she has to push herself back up, though to her credit it goes quickly. "I'd
like to say that's real patronizing of ya, but I'm figuring you're bein'
honest." This time, she tries to grip one of Daigo's arms and apply a standing
hold against it, trying to bend his fingers downward while turning his palm up
and raising it. Hands aren't supposed to move that way, so it will hurt if she
gets it going as planned.

Then there's the fact that more energy is forming on her hands, trying to latch
onto Daigo's limb and burst in explosive fashion. Not a genuine gunpowder-style
explosion, just detonating in a more general sense.

COMBATSYS: Daigo endures Megumi's Crimson Grapple.

[               \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  //////////                    ]
Megumi           0/-------/--=====|=======\====---\1            Daigo

"...Megumi.  When have you known me to be patronizing?" he quips, softly.
A lightning-fast grab to Daigo's hand, a sudden jerk, and Daigo is supposed to
be rendered helpless, right?  Right.  Well Daigo moves in with the attack this
time, allowing the grapple, and the subsequent burst of chi blazing down his
arm, practically engulfing himself in the mighty crimson-flavored power.  Sweet
burning it stings, but Daigo, being the big man that he is, has felt far worse
in his life.  Even if the attack brings him to his knees for a moment, he's
able to fight through it, and stand up, bearing the pain, and punching through
it with the fist that Megumi didn't have trapped.

What follows next depends on how stunned Megumi was by that flash of a fist, if
it even hit at all.  For following shall be the signature series of punches,
kicks, and haymakers that makes up the awesome twelve-hit combo of the Phoenix
Fury, each attack laced with his own fiery chi, the final strike designed to
knock his opponent backwards and off their feet.

COMBATSYS: Daigo successfully hits Megumi with Phoenix Fury.
- Power hit! -

[                           \\\  < >  //////////                    ]
Megumi           1/-======/=======|=------\-------\0            Daigo

It's not the first punch that worries Megumi. She's gotten used to these 'Hurt
me MOOOORE' types who shrug off all kinds of injury in the name of hitting you
even harder. And so that first punch is dodged easily, though the threat of it
makes her drop the hold. ...It's the follow-up series that she doesn't get away
from. One hit causes her to stumble forward, wind knocked out of her. The next
several hits take her from 'doing okay' to 'absolutely pummeled.' Someone of
hardier frame might be able to weather this assault and stay on their feet, but
her smaller frame tells all against big fists and big boots.

While she doesn't go flying back or any such thing, Megumi does fall to her
knees in front of Daigo from these hits. It's probable that if she just went
down now, she'd stay conscious. Defeated and unable to move much from fatigue,
but conscious. Instead, she goes all out. Energy grows in between her hands,
which she grabs ahold of, tightly. Forcing herself up, she raises the energy
sphere up high, and slams it against the ground as hard as she can.

The result of this technique is not too different from Terry's Power Geyser
technique; the energy strikes the ground, then gushes upward at Daigo. But it's
not as well formed or focused as Terry's technique; it's a wild, sprawling mass
made out of desperation and sheer, unrefined energy-expenditure. There is no
refinement to it; just formation and use. An ugly, stumbling technique...and
one that she really didn't have enough left in her to do. The second her hands
hit the ground, she collapses from throwing around too much effort while being
pummeled like that.

COMBATSYS: Megumi can no longer fight.
COMBATSYS: Megumi has left the fight here.
COMBATSYS: Daigo dodges Megumi's Exceed Charge.

[                    \\\\\\\\\\  <
Daigo            0/-------/------=|

Adrenaline can be a wonderful thing sometimes.  Coming off the end of his combo
series, Daigo watches Megumi slump down to the ground, thinking his opponent
was beat.  He steps back a step to wait to make sure, watching her with a
critical gaze, fists still up and at the ready in case she does, like so many
others, have a final trick up her sleeve.

And what a trick it is...  An awesome amount of energy, unleashed in a wild
chaotic mass, obviously untrained, or perhaps being used in desperation.
Whatever the reason, Daigo has just enough training on his own end to sidestep
the chaotic attack, having to move back several more feet just to evade the
path of the wild energy stream.

When it's all said and done, Daigo is left standing strong.  Megumi, down.  The
fight...over.  Daigo nods...walking over to the fallen Megumi, and hefting her
up over his shoulder like the honorable fighter he is, intent on taking her to
the nurses personally.  She was an able fighter.  Her school should be proud.
Megumi should be a pretty easy carry. Dead-weight since she's unconscious, but
easy enough to haul. It's nothing serious, she just threw herself around harder
than she rightly should have. Any tending by the school's nurses probably won't
be of the serious nature. Daigo hits hard, but it's not like he was out to
dislocate her brain.

Match over, folks. Cue applause, disperse to go about your business, etc.
