Description: When a gang leader calls your moves 'cheap tricks', well... (Winner: Daigo)
It is growing into the evening and right now the white arena is packed. Two
fighters that were probably not marked to make it this far are now matching up
in this third round match. The fans are roaring as the first of the two
contestants are announced. Leona is the first to enter and even though she was
virtually unknown when she started out, she has managed to get quite a
following after her first two wins. She doesn't seem to acknowledge the people
cheering for her as she moves to the middle of the arena and crosses her arms
under her chest while waiting for Daigo to emerge.
It's not a long wait.
The Third Round... It's been a hard road to tread to get to this point. Old
faces, new challenges, and more pressure with each result. The further one
goes on this ladder of endless pain, the harder it is to climb to the next
rung. And yet, look at the fighters posed for battle tonight! Leona... The
truest of the underdogs in this bracket. Daigo... Who had to survive rounds
with the Deadliest Woman in the World. This is to be a memoriable fight. So
let it begin...
Daigo arrives, for the third time, to the Masters Stadium. Only this time it's
to the White Arena, never before seen by the one-eyed Gedo brawler. As it is a
more simple arena than the Red, it deserves a simpler entrance, and thus Daigo
quite simply walks onto the fighting floor, and takes up a stance opposite
Leona, amid the screaming crowd gathered around to watch. He stops, his arms
crossed over his chest, his good eye staring down at his opponent. "...I hear
you're pretty tough. I expect a good fight out of you. Nothing but your
best..." Then the Gedo Boss bows, respectfully, to his oppoent...and steps
back into his traditional fighting stance. Fists up, hunkered over, and ready
to take a hit. Giving the first strike chance to Leona.

"You shouldn't expect any less than my best." Leona quietly murmurs in reply,
just loud enough to where Daigo could hear her over the crowd. She pulls out a
ribbon to tie her hair up into a high ponytail before taking a fighting stance
of her own. She takes a moment to eye the Gedo boss critically. She managed to
watch him fight with Chun-Li and she knows he has very few weak points. She
takes a deep breath and then leaps backwards, if she gets the first strike she
may as well use it. Her hand slips into the jacket she wears for a moment and
then quickly whips back out, causing a throwing knife charged with her own chi
to get flung in the direction of Daigo.

Projectiles.
Daigo might not have a weakness, but he's not much of a fan of projectiles.
Nor of knives. Let alone throwing knives, with additional chi-flavored pain on
top of it. If that's the starter move, what's the finisher like? Daigo
braces...expecting some sort of physical attack, and instead ends up taking a
knife in the left arm. The edged blade sticking more in sleeve than in flesh,
the wound still leaks a tiny bit, once Dai reaches up to pull the sharp object
out, and drop it to the floor, next to his shoes. "...hm." Dai grunts, his
good eye narrowing. If that's how she wants to play it... He won't give the
playful jab he normally would as an opener. He'll move right on up, try to hop
his bulk in close, and whip out a quick two-hit combo attempt. Left tap.
Right smash. One, two, tag!

Leona steadies herself as Daigo starts rushing in close. This man is quicker
than Haggar so she will have to get used to fighting in close with the man. She
holds up her arms to absorb most of the blows that Daigo delivers. Her eyes
narrow somewhat on the man, eyeing him critically for a moment before lowering
her hands and then shoving them forward with palms open. A green ball of chi
forms and then sharp protrusions burst out of it and lash at the big man to
cut
at him.

Interesting... This would be the first solid chi-user that Daigo has fought in
a long time. But is chi really that much different than actual physical blows?
In the end, pain is inflicted, and one's body should be able to take that pain
in all its forms. ...Just don't take it if you don't have to. Daigo spots the
chi forming before the ball grows to the appropriate size, and has his arms up
in the way to take the sharp lashes, shreds of his coat sleeves falling around
him from the assault.
Of course, once the assault ends, and Daigo's forearms are exposed with their
multitude of chi-burns, the big Gedo man is right there, ready to deliver an
assault of his own. His big right hand, lighting up with a sudden burst of
Phoenix chi, intending to fully give Leona a small taste of her own medicine,
and a black eye to boot.

The big man might be the stronger fighter, and Leona might not be quick enough
to set up a proper defense for the next move, but she will be damned if she
lets him hit her square in the face. She turns to the side to let her shoulder
take the full impact of the blow. The hit causes her to grimace and bite her
lip hard as she takes a few steps back to regroup. The arm that did not suffer
being hit by that punch reaches up to detach an earring that she wears and she
then tosses it at Daigo. It is a move that both Dan and Haggar have felt and
Daigo might feel if that earring hits him, for when that happens it will set
off a small explosion that will probably anger him quite a bit.

It's hard to know the tricks people can pull. The last time Daigo fought
anyone who used long range was...Rolento. Long, long ago. So the earring
catches him off guard...though in the sense that he lifts his arms to block it,
and ends up with his arms burned all the more when the explosion comes as
opposed to the sharp sting of an edged weapon!
When the smoke clears...Daigo's expression has darkened. His coat might as
well be sleeveless from the razors that slashed through it. Not to mention the
use of weapons and explosions isn't what he'd like to fight against. Alas, to
each their own, and Dai has the understanding that everyone has their own way
of fighting.
So if Leona wants to keep the fight away from Daigo, Daigo will just have to
bring the fight back to Leona.
Out of the explosion, Daigo leans forward, and marches steadily towards Leona
once again. The distance, closing, a mere couple of steps away, Dai flexes his
left arm, and makes a quick jab attempt at Leona, trying to keep her own
defense off balance...

Leona has had plenty of time to get back into her fighting stance by the time
the next punch comes in. She crosses her arms in front of her to block the blow
and is knocked back a step. She inhales deeply and then throws her arms down
quickly, the force of the move causes a release of chi shaped like an X that
flies right in the direction of the Gedo boss.

X-shaped chi now. Chi daggers, chi spikes, and now chi-crosses! Daigo can't
imagine what this looks like to the crowd, watching a big man like him get cut
up by mysterious waves of energy. More shredding, little drops of blood
forming on the new cuts his big, toned arms from taking the shock of that
strike, and yet...all it appears to do is make Daigo all the more determined to
pull his right arm back, and throw yet another punch. Endurance match? Sure!
Who tips over first, the brawler, or the chi-user?

Leona tries to stagger back to avoid the blow thrown by Daigo, but it connects
solidly right in her chest. She lets out a sharp gasp of air and eyes widen
somewhat, but it will take more than that to take the mercenary down. She takes
a few quick breaths to get the air back in her lungs and this time it is her
charging it. A quick burst of speed to easily close the distance between her
and Daigo as she relies just on her strength instead of chi on this next move.
She strikes open handed in a slashing motion. Though it seems like it would be
harmless, the way she controls it tears any cloth it comes in contact with and
also leaves a nice surface scratch along skin.

Well consider Daigo scratched, then, because at noticing Leona's mighty charge,
Daigo's blocking reflexes kick in yet again. Bracing himself against the
ground, Dai takes the brunt of Leona's attack, and grunts with the effort of
this deflection. That's better... Physical battle! Daigo's element! "Not
bad..." the Gedo Boss says, lines of red showing along his arms, when he hops
to one side, and throws a gut-high roundhouse kick!

"I learned from the best." Leona replies while keeping her guard up against her
opponent. True, Heidern did teach her alot, but she is still learning to
perfect the skills. She knows she is outmatched, but she won't back down
because of that. She raises a leg to block most of the force of the kick and
she hops back a few steps before lowering her leg. Well if it is a kicking
contest he wants, she is going to try to give him one helluva a kick. She
closes in again and then swings her leg at Daigo hard as she can, a kick that
seems charged with chi energy and a kick aimed to knock the man into the air.
If she can manage to do that, there will be more to follow.

It /was/ a very hard kick. Daigo can feel the power behind it... The
vibration of the impact through his arms, the wash of chi that follows, Daigo
feels the power lurking behind such a heavy attack lead by Leona's boot. The
impact makes Daigo step back...but does not send him up into the air. Oh no.
Rather, the big Gedo punk has stepped back another step to study Leona's form.
Judging. One could possibly tell he wants to make his next hit count. All he
needs is a good opening. . .
COMBATSYS: Daigo focuses on his next action.
An opening that Leona doesn't want to let Daigo to have. She closes back in on
Daigo in a few quick steps then takes to the air. She twists in the air to face
the backside of Daigo while coming downwards then tries to lock an arm around
his neck while her leg lashes out to sweep his legs out from under him in an
attempt to ground the large man.

A sneaky move... Daigo should have figured a bit of hidden agility lie in his
opponent. The throw lands, clean, and Daigo is struck to the ground! His
head, bouncing solidly off the white arena's shiney polished floor. Thunk.
There's a chance Daigo blacked out for a moment then, when his head struck, but
he'll never admit it. If that moment was there, it was as fleeting as a cool
breeze in summer. The Gedo Boss hates to be down for too long, and a quick
roll takes him a bit away from Leona, giving him precious moments to get to his
feet. A second for a breath...and Daigo's charging in again, seeing if he
can't catch Leona just a bit off guard. Still looking for that opening. An
opening, he fully intends to use to slam a left gut-punch into...and if that
lands? Down comes the overhead fist!

Leona took a moment to relax when she managed to finally land a solid hit on
the Gedo boss, though she should have known better. The man is quick too,
quicker than she had thought. He is already throwing the first punch by the
time she realizes that she need to throw up a good defense. The first blow hits
her hard, knocking the air along with a small amount of blood to escape her
lips. The second blow comes down hard on the womans head soon after and she
crumples to the ground as if knocked out, but she is concious despite things
spinning around quite a bit at the moment. She reaches into her jacket and
reaches in to pull out a small explosive she rolls at the feet of Daigo, a item
she hopes the Gedo boss overlooks. She then springs to her feet and does a
backflip to put distance between her opponent as the explosive gets set off.

Kaboom! Another explosion, set off in the White Arena, at Daigo's very feet!
It's hard to put up an effective block against something like that...so he
doesn't. Daigo merely walks out of the resulting smoky cloud. His good eye,
glaring. His coat, a good pile of tatters, and his pants and undershirt aren't
too clean either. If there's one word that could describe Dai's face when he
emerges, dirty and tattered, from that smoke cloud...
It'd be pissed.
"...You better hope I don't catch up." Daigo growls, that second explosion
having been just enough in the 'cheap tricks' department to make him desire to
teach this quick fighter a lesson. Indeed, she had better hope to put up a
defense against Daigo's next charge, because if she can't...every attack in
Dai's book will be thrown at her, in quite the rapid succession. Such things
always start out with a single punch, though, and it's that single punch that
Daigo releases first. A stunning jab, aimed for Leona's face...

Though it may be blocked, that won't stop Daigo's momentium. It means that
the resulting combo-liscious attack of punches and kicks is muted in
effectiveness, if not fury. The end of the combo, one final Phoenix Fist. And
then...Daigo steps back, trying to survey the damage he may (or may not) have
caused, his rage evaporating like so much rain on a warm sidewalk. ...Is his
guard down?
Leona is far too sore and battered to do much else than to try to defend
against such an attack. He has pushed her to her limit and she is running on
near empty. The blows are still too much as they pummel her to one knee. She
knows this is probably the end of her run in the tournament, but she will make
it a loss that Daigo will not forget if she can help it. The big man might be
too caught up in his assault to notice the quick hand motion of Leona reaching
into her jacket with a hand while her other arm continues to try to keep
blocking, that arm is knocked away and the last blow hits her hard, but is
Daigo quick enough to notice yet another explosive clipped onto his person?
Leona stumbles away from Daigo and then hits the ground in a heap, eyes half
lidded as she fights to stay concious. "You are a better fighter than me....you
make me remember I am still inexperienced..." the last works are whispered as
her eyes close and she loses conciousness.

Actually, no. Daigo did /not/ notice the last explosive gift given to him by
Leona in mid-Fury. In fact, it isn't until the last second that he looks down,
and realizes he's carrying a tiny bit of extra baggage. "...da-"
*BOOM!*
A bigger blast than either of the two earrings, it knocks Daigo completely off
his feet, and onto his back a good ten feet away from Leona's unconscious form.
Even causes him to struggle to sit up, burnt in several dozen places, and
scalded in several dozen more. The big man can still get to his feet, though,
and he does so, warily approaching Leona's body, and nudging her with his foot.
"...hmph. A real fighter doesn't have to rely on cheap tricks to win." This,
coming from a gang boss. Creepy, huh? Daigo has a tradition to uphold,
though, and to show that he at least respects Leona for crawling her way this
far in the tournament, he bends over to scoop her up, intent on walking her to
the medic office.
