"Allllright! Hardcore fans have been eagerly anticipating this event. And now,
the waiting is finally over... the hearts, minds, and bodies of these warriors
will now be put to the ultimate test!"
Kyo Kusanagi looks up in the general direction of the announcers booth from his
position on the arena proper, "That guy never quits..." he grumbles to himself.
Kusanagi's eyes drift downwards, eventuallu settling on his nattily-dressed
opponent, a regular unknown to the crimson flame-wielding King of Fighters.
After sizing up Kain for a minute, Kyo shakes his head sadly whilst pulling one
of his gloves, "Jeeez... no wonder I keep getting asked to fight here, they
expect a guy like this to pull in an audience? What a joke!"
The announcer continues to hype up the event while the two fighters stare each
other down, "In the left corner, the King of Fighters himself, Kyo Kusanagi!!"
The crowd roars, with an especially loud chorus of squeals from a contingent of
Kyo cosplayers, "...and in the right corner, the challenger, Kain R. Heinlein!
The time has come, when the new history is going to unfold!!"
Of course, the fighter in the right corner seems to have much less bearing on
the general public than the King of Fighters does. And Kyo's point may be a good
one. But as they say, the course of history is changed in this very place. 'Who'
is merely a relative term. Very few faces are remembered, and very little of the
actual details are kept in mind. But the winds of fate blow a different
direction whenever anyone steps into the ring. There are no winners, nor are
there losers here.
Here, the mighty rule.
In his corner, Kain stands with a hand in his pocket, his eyes scanning
up his opponent from top to bottom. This isn't your usual fighter instinct at
work here. For Kain has a certain gift. Staring deep into the eyes of the young
fighter, he makes the term 'window to the soul' quite literal. Time stands still
for a moment, before Kain's eyes suddenly avert and a grin forms on his face. No
matter how 'explosive' his fighting will is, there's no hiding that this man
doesn't have the willpower nor the intention of becoming more alive, more human,
and above and beyond those of the 'normal' kind. With his hand still in his
pocket, Kain remarks somewhat idly. "Even something large appears small in the
distance. Let's get this over with." ... What an odd thing to say at a time like
this. Kain seems more ready than ever, but his left hand still seems to rest
casually in his coat pocket. The audience is none too impressed with his random
observations, but soon, they'll find out just who Kain R. Heinlein is.

Kusanagi cracks a vicious smirk and sends it Kain's way while continuing to pull
on one of his fingerless gloves, adjusting it, "Hey... that's my line!" he says,
starting to pace towards Kain until they are only a few meters apart from one
another. Kyo finishes tugging on his sun-emblazoned glove and brings his hand
upwards, showing it to his opponent as it is suddenly engulfed in the holy flame
of the Kusangi, "I hope those fancy duds of yours are flameproof, blondie!" He
clenches the hand into a fist, extinguishing the flame, "IKUZE!"
*READY.... FIGHT!*
Kyo doesn't waste any time, pivoting on his heel while launching off of it. His
body twists in mid-air serving to produce rotational momentum for a low
roundhouse kick aimed towards Heinlein's ribs.

The smirk is met with a relatively serious expression, but there does seem to be
an aura of confidence and even light-heartedness coming from the Well-Dressed
Man. He regards Kyo's display of the Holy Flame with general disinterest. He
doesn't even move yet. And as Kyo starts the first attack, Kain merely stands
there. It's not until Kyo nearly strikes him that he shifts forward and to the
side, watching the kick pass merely inches in front of him. Still, however, he
makes no move to attack. The feel of the battle has yet to come to Kain. Not
until Kyo has shown just what his power is. For the moment, Kain just stands
there, watching Kyo. He does however gives Kyo some humble advice. "The crowds
didn't pay just to see that. Entertain them!"

Kyo skids to a halt, kick having sailed past Kain. How annoying. Kyo grits his
teeth as Kain doesn't even make a move to counterattack, "Too scared to even
move then?!" He whips around to attack Kain from behind with a spinning
backfist.

The attack once again sails just in front of Kain as he leans his upper body
backwards. Too scared to move? Hardly. Fighting like this hardly seems worth
Kain's time. Though he wanted to see just what Kyo's real forte is, he isn't one
to wait a fight out. SOMEBODY had to get the real fight started. And despite
probably being the calmer of the two fighters, it appears it just might have to
be Kain. Hoping to catch the Kusanagi Scion offguard, Kain moves in from leaning
and grabs at his jacket. "Well, I guess you're leaving it up to me to keep our
audience." He releases his grab just a second, before springing into the air,
flipping backwards with a kick delivered to Kyo's chin, doubled with a very
large amount of purple chi energy.
That's right. Purple flames. Maybe with the deja-vu the man will get
serious.

"What the!" Kyo is barely able to backflip away from the kick, the flat of
Kain's foot, enveloped with indigo flame, comes within just inches of Kyo's
face. Kain and Kyo land on the ground from their respective jumps at the same
time, with the latter looking quite a bit less flippant than he was in the
beginning of the fight... for a moment, at least. "So you think you're pretty
quick with that stuff huh? You're a turtle compared to my REAL flames!" Kyo
takes a giant step forwards while cocking back a fist. His fist explodes in a
wreath of his crimson flames!

Well, it certainly had the desired effect. He's proved the fighter enough to
start using his complicated maneuvers. Now, the real fight can start. As they
land, Kain takes the time to adjust his tie as Kyo talks trash. Though he may
seem distracted, Kain's eyes never leave the young fighter, and when he comes in
for his fiery punch, Kain is ready. Just in the nick of time, Kain sends out a
wave of his own violet flame, snuffing out the punch and pushing Kyo back. His
chi doesn't leave as the defense stops, either. Instead, it twirls in a complex
pattern, swirling around his body and towards his feet. Soon, even more flame is
created around his body as Kain suddenly pivots his heel and springs forward,
twisting into the air, his right leg extended in a flying kick as he soars like
a shooting star, leaving a huge trail of purple flame in his wake. His motion is
not unlike the Slash Kick technique mastered by Joe Higashi. However, the sheer
power of the chi focused distinguishes it from other attacks.

Kyo is caught off guard, somehow Kain is able to completely neutralize his
Aragami technique. If Kain's chi flames were the first indication that Kyo's
opponent is more than he appears, the searing kick that scorches and batters Kyo
is the second! "Guh!" He staggers backwards, surprised that his opponent is
actually this powerful... and for him to be burned that bad for mere chi
flames... "Nnhh... not bad, maybe I'll stop playing around for you now huh?" he
charges at Kain again, feinting another Aragami flame punch, but at the last
second he dives forward with his opposite elbow, hoping to drive it into Kain's
midsection.

.. Not a bad attack at all. Kain hardly expected it! He's been quiet for most
of the fight, seemingly ignoring the comments from the other fighter. He moves
his arm forward to snuff out the flames again, but as the elbow comes he's
completely off guard and has no choice but to take it. And of course, it doesn't
end there. Kain's face is grabbed and he is lifted high into the air, the
crimson flames blasting his body, singing him as he soars back quite away. It
doesn't take long for Kain to recover, though, as Kain flips through the air,
landing on his feet. He takes a second to recover before leaping backwards yet
again, and sending a blast of purple flames flying straight at the King of
Fighter's face from his arm.

Kyo hoists Kain up, then pours flames into the blond-haired man's body.
"MOERO!!" He doesn't get much time to gloat, as Kain sends two corkscrewing
bolts of flame his way. "You're pretty good with that immitation flame of yours,
but it won't be enough to beat a genius like me!" Kyo dives forwards... right
towards the projectile? Yup; his body mirrors the spiralling motion of both
projectiles, leaping right between them. He lands in a rolling motion, still
gaining ground on Kain, ending in a crouching position. Kain's eyes follow him
the whole time... constantly watching, and for a split-second, the burning
spirit in Kusanagi's eyes locks with the cold flame in Kain's. Then, Kyo blasts
upwards in a mighty rainbow-arc of a jump, his body silhouetted against the
moon. Gravity takes effect, and Kyo aims the back of his heel at Kain's head.

Well, its little wonder that Kyo is the King of Fighters. He's been fighting
quite impressively, after all. But Kain is not an opponent to be taken lightly,
despite his only recent entrance into the fighting world. Kain watches Kyo fly
through the air, and... doesn't particularly make an effort to evade. The heel
connects, pounding down on Kain's head. Not altogether pleased with himself for
taking such a hit, Kain somehow manages to stay on his feet. Hunched forward,
Kain simply stays there for a moment. However, he's quick to come up with a
counter attack. In a butterfly stroke motion, Kain seperates his arms creating
yet another wave of dark chi flames. right into Kyo. However, that's merely the
first step of the attack. The wave only grows as Kain is suddenly charging
forward with an elbow attack of his own, hoping to yet again blast Kyo back with
a combination of energy and physical strength.

"I WON'T LET YOU DO THAT!" Kyo yells, driving up his own power; an explosion of
his bloodline's crimson flames erupts from his hands, clashing with Kain's
indigo flames. Kyo's powers prevail this time, negating Kain's indigo chi and
protecting him from harm as he lands. Likewise, Kain's elbow attack is also
avoided; the heir to the Kusanagis manages to twists his body deftly to the
side, almost as graceful as ballet dancer. Kain goes right past him, leaving our
hero with a very opportune look at Heinlein's blind spot, "BODY GA AMEZE!" The
leftover flames from Kyo's flame shield colesce in his hands... which become
fists.

Those who know their blindspots can predict when they are to be attacked, thusly
not making them blind at all. 'Blindspots' never made sense to the German man,
and they seem to be more of a gamble than anything. Despite the recent
punishment he's been given, Kain finally detects the attack coming for him.
Instead of hopping back to evade it, Kain mimics the Kusanagi's fiery attack by
suddenly twisting to the side, hopping into the air. After faking his way
inside, Kain suddenly ducks forward, before lashing with a skyward kick. The
kick seems to be completely off target, but again his indigo flames extend and
quickly grow and follow Kain into the air. And it doesn't stop there. While Kain
reaches the peak of his jump, the flame reaches his hands and Kain throws it
down towards Kyo, hopefully sending his opponent back towards the cold granite.

Kyo growls as he isn't able to capitilize on his terrific positioning,
cancelling his attack after the first punch whiffs, and putting him in better
position to respond to Kain's Schwartz Cutter technique: He backpedals swiftly,
foot over foot in stylish Jeet Kune Do fashion. With the first part of the
attack dealt with; Kain's rising indigo flames pass harmlessly in front of Kyo,
he has plenty of time to neutralize the other threat. The Kusanagi heir once
again imbues his hand with holy flame, then like an ace baseball pitcher heaves
a fiery fastball to intercept Kane's projectile. The two attacks explode in a
twisting mass of crimson and purple flames that give the arena an eerie
multi-colored hue. When Kain lands back on the ground, his foe is right in front
of him; with a nice knuckle sandwhich already prepared.

Yet another predictable technique. As Kain lands, he smiles slightly to himself,
the attack almost already choreographed. He senses the punch coming behind him,
and in the blink of an eye, turns to parry the punch by deftly knocking it
aside. He hopes to throw the younger fighter off balance, before delivering an
attack of his own. This time, he sends a hard punch in Kyo's direction. A
different form of chi manifests, and a fiery blue aura surrounds his fist as he
strikes fiercely forward. It may not take as much to throw such an attack out
for Kain, his opponent will feel very little difference. ... If it actually
connects this time.

This one's too quick to dodge, Kyo has to throw his arms up in front of his face
to defend the punch, causing a nasty bruise on his arm, but nothing that isn't
negliable. Kyo is getting frustrated, Kain doesn't even need his all-knowing
gaze to discern that, and so Kyo puts some distance between himself and his foe,
glaring at the older man, "Alright alright, so I can't hold back with you, big
deal, once I show you all my power you'll be wishing I hadn't, loser!" Kyo's
hands become fists, arms clenching close to his body as he sort of hunkers down.
"Yaaaaaaaah...." Kyo's hair and clothes start rustling as his body becomes
sheathed in a redish glow... not quite fire, more like an aura of intense heat.

Again, Kain makes little effort to communicate with the Kusanagi, though his
frustration is noted. Just another silly emotion. Instead, Kain dashes in to
close the distance between them, while his arm still eminates with that blue
aura. As the boy starts gathering his own energy, Kain attempts to capitalize on
the moment by striking towards Kyo with a very strong uppercut to his chin. The
momentum doubled with the energy is enough to fall lesser men in one hit. But
that's hardly expected from a fighter like Kyo. And with the luck Kain has been
having... well, anything is possible.

Kyo is hit HARD by the punch; his head snaps upwards, a bit of blood spewing out
of his mouth. It practically lifts him out of his shoes. Looking woozy, he turns
around, as if he's having a hard time maintaining his balance and keeping on his
feet. "Nnhh... unnh..." he pants, but all the while, he's been dropping into a
very special stance, one that Kain might not even notice until a ring of fire
errupts from the stone around Kyo's feet. His clothes start whipping around from
the invisible forces created by... no, at this range Kain is sure to be able to
tell what Kyo is producing is no mere chi, but rather something more
mysterious... and dangerous. Kusanagi suddenly seems quite stable, the game is
up. "Kore de... KIMERU ZE!!!" His body untwists as he spins on his front foot,
bring his right arm around in a near 360 degree arc. A haymaker punch? No. Kyo
brings the whole barn on this one: if the blow itself wasn't massive enough,
it's punctuated by a massive explosion of bloodline flame at it's striking
point.

The haymaker punch comes out far too fast for Kain to read. And the stance Kyo
has taken is an advantageous one. Unable to read the young fighter's eyes, Kain
is left to guess. But Kain didn't get where he is by some mere gift. He can tell
something's coming up. Instinctively, Kain brings up his arm to block the
attack. However, his failing was that he had know idea just how massive that
attack was. He manages to keep the punch away from the face or any vital area,
but it manages to ring through his arm and almost through his entire body. The
Holy Flame aftereffect only adds to the pain. But altogether, it isn't
unbearable. Recoiling back a little from the attack, he uses his momentum to
once again hop backwards and hurl twin flames towards the Kusanagi Scion. He
lands less than gracefully, though, and ends up sliding back a short distance.

Well, it was good idea in paper. Kyo's fist strikes Kain... and is blocked,
through the dying embers of the 182 Shiki's explosion, Kyo catches a glimpse of
Kain jumping backwards to throw MORE projectiles at him. These ones won't be
able to be dodged as cleverly as the first ones, Kyo knows this... but as he has
known from the first day his flames manifested and how he has lived his lifed
since then; when there is no defense, attack. Kyo charges straight through the
bolts, flame washing over his body with only crossed forearms in front of his
face as defense. It has to be incredibly painful, but somehow Kusanagi fights
through it, he won't allow himself to be beaten like this. His body is obscured
by the bluish flames, a mere shadow... but the shadow grows, and grows... and
turns red, eventually all the flames enshrouding it become the Kusanagi holy
crimson flames... and when Kyo finally emerges, his whole body is on fire, a
living pyre dashing straight towards Kain.
"Kore ga... KUSANAGI NO KEN DA!!" This is the Saihsuu Kessen Ougi: Mu Shiki.
Body still on fire, Kyo launches into the "first of the three divine weapons" a
combination attack that links together all of Kusanagi-ryuu kobojutsu's primary
attacks. The Aragami and Dokugami flame punch attacks, and the legendary demon
scorcher manuever, Oniyaki.

Well, you can certainly respect the drive of this young fighter. However, this
match is far from over. The entirety of the fiery attack hits Kain, and he feels
each devastating punch ring straight through him. The Oniyaki sends Kain
twisting through the air. He lands with a sickening thud on the ground, leaving
a rather large crater in the ground. It takes a little while for the smoke to
clear, though. But when it does, Kain is no longer there. However, through the
night sky, something cometh. A massive blue fireball, nearly the size of Kyo,
comes hailing down straight towards Kyo. And in the next instant comes yet
another, and then another. Has God had enough of Kyo's inane self-absorption?
No... Appearing out of nowhere, Kain is on the opposite side of the fighter,
finishing a motion that resembles a slash downwards. The crowd here now knows
what Kain is capable of, and it most certainly sends a chill through nearly all
of them.

Kyo's feet tap on the ground as his lands from the Oniyaki, panting a little,
for it is no small thing to conjure up a hidden technique of that level, even
for a self-described "genius fighter" like Kyo Kusanagi. "Hnnnh. hnnh." he just
stands there where he landed for now, looking at the smokey crater only to find
that either Kain's body was totally vaporized by the Mu Shiki or.... Kyo feels
something eerie above him. The young fighter turns, tilts his head upwards, and
finds his vision totally obscured by nothing less than a comet that bathes him,
along with the entire arena, in blue light.
For his part, Kyo looks calm, almost resigned, head dipping as he sighs, "It's
bothersome... but I can't let Yagami see me get defeated..." he looks back up at
the Himmlischer Atem, "...but some false immitation flames! YAAAAAAAAAAAH..."
Kyo drives up his flames again, two blazes that are generated from his palms and
quickly spread over his whole body, this time though instead of becoming a human
torch, Kyo generates a large teardrop shaped aura, and points it right at the
Himmlischer Atem. We'll see who has the edge in flames now. The comet drops on
Kyo, who contests it with his own powers, stopping it just short of impact with
the ground... yet Kain still had the edge, the power of his chi bolt forces Kyo
to his knees as he desperately tries to fight it off, pouring flame in the big
blue ball of death with everything he has. It's not enough though, and the
Himmlischer explodes, blinding nearly all in the arena.
Geese Howard will not be pleased. The crater made by this one is huge compared
to the one made by Kyo's Mu Shiki technique, trashing nearly all of the arena,
making it more a pit. Kyo isn't in the crater... rather... he's dusting himself
off at the edge of it, "Whew!" he says, as if he only dodged a thrown pencil,
"Not a bad technique, but couldn't you have come up with something better after
feasting your eyes on my legendary flames? I thought you would have been
inspired!" Kyo smirks. THAT smirk. "Let's finish this RIGHT NOW!" He's off,
dashing towards Kain and cocking back a fist.

Well, it sure took him long enough. The strike from Kyo hits Kain straight in
the face, causing Kain to stumble to the side. He stands there for a moment,
before laughing to himself. For the first time in the fight, Kain begins to
speak. "Boy. You don't even know what inspiration is. Though something may
appear large and important, the farther away you view it from, the smaller it
is. You can take whatever you want from your name, but remember. The less you do
to honor it, the farther away from reality you become. And soon, you won't
matter." It seems like a weak tap, but Kain was just on the edge. He slumps
forward slightly, but not before striking Kyo straight across the face with
another fist surrounded in blue aura. He then slumps over. It appears it's a
victory for the Kusanagi Scion.

Kyo stands in front of Kain and doesn't really attempt to dodge the attack, it's
obviously Kain's last gasp. The punch hits Kyo in the cheek, snapping his head
to the side. He takes a step back, spits out a globule of blood into the depths
of the crater, then look back at the wobbly Kain. "You really get talkative once
you've been blazed to a crisp by my flames, neh?" he remarks casually, moving a
gloved hand to rub his jaw. "What a weird guy," he continues, musing on whatever
it is Kain just said to him, Kyo didn't really pay attention to it, other than
it sounded grim, "Since you're so serious and everything, let me clue you into
something about fate. The reason I won is because I HAVE a name, one that's
burned for 1800 years, and you won't be able to snuff it out with just the stuff
you have, that's the destiny of all weak fighters who try to go up against the
blazing sun of the Kusanagis!" Kyo puts a hand in his pant pocket and turns away
from Kain, "Ore no..." he thrusts his other arm into the air, "-kachi da!!"

And the crowd roars, especially that section of Kyo cosplayers.
