===Location===
Southtown Village
A change from the hectic pace of the Business District, and the gritty
environs of Downtown Southtown, the Southtown Village is a far quieter
district of the city. Few buildings top over five or six stories, and most of
the population of the area live in house-like brownstone apartments at street
level. A myriad of small shops dot the area, as the Village is a center for
culture and arts. Small theaters for live performances, coffee shops,
bookstores, art museums...all are common sights.
Probably the only sliver of the city that doesn't thrive on large
businesses and tourist attractions, the Village instead adopts a laid-back
pace to things. The only exception to this is nearby Taiyo High, which makes
the entire district of the city a hotbed for youth activity.

School's been out for the last few hours, today. Most students have since
gone on home, and a number of the 'everyday worker' people have also
finished their daily commute back to their abodes. But a small part of the
city's 'Village' district has been blocked off to traffic via orange road
cones and the like. And within the blocked off area? Various
pedesitrians...only, they're not walking anywhere. They're sitting around,
waiting. Tonight is the time for a tournament match, even if it is a low key
one.
One of tonight's fighters, Megumi, is just now walking up. She's all set,
already in her fighting attire, and has a casual smile to her. The only
addition to her usual outfit is a blue wristband, which she pulls off as she
steps onto the street, and tosses it to a nearby spectator at random. A bit
of an appeal to the crowd before things begin, it seems.
Jason notices Megumi make her way to the designated fighting area. He
considers her for a moment with a raised eyebrow and then shrugs. He begins
to move, emerging from the crowd already dressed in his gi. He nods to
Megumi and begins to warm up, doing some basic standing stretches, "Hey...
how's it going? You Megumi?"
Megumi's smile is replaced with a dubious expression. "We...have met, you
know. That bit where you talked about post-tournament parties and such?" She
flicks a wrist off to the side, then shifts her feet around until she's got
a stance she's comfortable with. "Should've done that stretching stuff
before coming to the match. You just let me know when you're ready, okay?"
Jason chuckles, "Oh yeah. I remember now. Do you know if there's going to be
one?" He watches Megumi take up a fighting stance and then stops his
stretching, "Not one for build up, are you? No big deal." He bounches back
into his own stance, left foot forward. He nods his head, "Ready when you
are." Simultaniously, he stops bouncing on the balls of his feet, coming to
a solid position with his eyes watching Megumi over fists.
Standing on the sidelines, mostly quiet and forming a small part of the
crowd, is a certain young man, roughly as old as Megumi herself. Rock Howard
has joined the onlookers, it seems, his hands in his pockets and a grin on
his face. Amidst most of the chatter going back and forth between the
audience members, one sound from him pierces through the white noise: A loud
whistle, as the Taiyo student pulls two fingers from his mouth. "Give him
hell, Megumi!"

Megumi's response is a simple, "Who knows...", then begins sprinting for
Jason, only to stop after just a few steps. Rock's whistle and shout causes
her to look around...then when she finds him, she waves to Rock, briefly
grinning, then takes off into her run once more. "Spiral..." Megumi goes
into a forward dive, body spinning in a loop, "Knuckle!" Right fist extends,
pointed for Jason's chest. If it hits, she'll land on her left hand, and
handspring up to her feet.

Jason follows Megumi closing the distance with narrowed eyes. He judges the
speed of the attack carefully and at the last moment, brings his arm across
his chest to absorb the majority of the blow. He turns with Megumi as she
handsprings away, turning easily on his feet. As she comes down from the
handspring, Jason drops low, bringing his leg around in a fiercely swinging
sweep.

Megumi lands...and tries to lean back and pop away from the sweep. Nice try,
but she'd probably need to be able to do something like bend time, or
teleport, to pull that off reliably. She hits the ground on her back, but
spins up to her feet almost immediately and lashes out with her hands,
trying to grab Jason by an arm and swing him to the ground, which, if
successful, will lead into her twisting his wrist at a rather painful angle
for several moments, then jumping away.

Jason 's eyes widen as his arm is grabbed. He follows Megumi's momentum to
the ground for a moment and then tucks his head and right shoulder. He does
a simple forward roll back up to his feet, relieving the pressure on his
arm. He then turns smoothly, still locked hand-and-arm with Megumi, and
delivers a quick spinning heel kick towards her midsection.

Megumi blinks as Jason just...rolls around. She actually lets go, surprised
by that effort. It turns out to be a good idea, as Jason's going into that
kick of his. She pivots off to the side by a step or two, and tries to
snatch Jason's kicking leg at the ankle. If she gets it, she'll push it
upward to knock Jason off balance, and 'pry' his leg against her own while
twisting his foot. If that works, Megumi then springs away from Jason in an
effort to reset their distances.

Jason gets taken off balance slightly as she goes for his leg, seemingly a
bit suprised at the return offense from her. He spins for a moment, waving
his arms before falling into a front handspring. He regains his balance upon
landing and turns towards Megumi. He grins lightly and nods, "Good exchange.
Keep em coming."

Megumi watches as Jason just stands there, and hmphs. "You're weird, you
know that?" But he gets what he asks for, as she makes a vaulting leap
towards Jason. Upon landing, she tries to grab his wrist with one hand, and
press against his chin with the other while stepping one leg in towards him.
It's an unusual attempt at making his balance solely rely on her, and if it
works, she'll pivot around and let go of his chin, only to scoop him up and
toss him a few feet, hopefully landing on the street.

Jason uses his right hand to take hold just above hand grabbing at his
wrist. He is then tossed over with little resistance, landing hard. He keeps
a firm grip on her wrist though, which prevents him from being tossed very
far. He spins on the ground, using his grip as a means of propulsion, and
sends a foot towards her midsection. If successful, he'll wrench back and
attempt to reverse the throw into a throw of his own.

Megumi stands firm, and smirks as Jason kicks at her. "You just don't let
things..." She uses her free hand to snatch at his shin, grabbing it and
stopping the kick cold, "...happen like they should, do you?" With that,
Megumi shoves Jason back a step, then grabs his leg with both hands, spins,
and in an unusual feat of momentum-use, slams Jason onto the street on his
side, letting go and stepping away.

Jason stays there on the ground for a moment, doing his best to figure out
what the heck just happened. As his senses come back to him in a matter of
mili-seconds, he executes a kip-up and turns to face Megumi. He shakes his
head slightly, "Nope. Not my style." He then makes a quick run at her,
launching himself into the air and spining the rest of the distance. As he
lands, he executes a 360 degree turn, bringing a backfist towards Megumi
fiercely.

Megumi is expecting something like a jump-kick, or a leaping grab, or
anything along those lines. These are not what happen. But the moment Jason
begins spinning, she bridges her upper body backwards, letting his fist pass
overhead, then she springs back up with a fist balled, aiming to clock him
in the face straight on.

Jason tries to move out of the way by using the momentum of his own attack,
but it fails by and large, catching him on the side of his face. He
continues with the spin regardless, getting a few feet of distance between
the two. He then pulls his fists to his waist, in a chambered, position. His
eyes narrow and electricity begins to form along his hands. After a moment,
he thrusts out. The electricity seems to explode, causing a ball of loud
thunder to fly towards Megumi, "Thunder Ball!"

Megumi lets Jason spin away without pursuit, clearly not one to be too
aggressive. Maybe it would've been a good idea to do so. Jason gets his
blast underway, and she tries to take it on a shoulder, only to
mis-calculate where it's going by just a tad, and instead taking the hit
right on her collarbone. This causes her to stagger back, rubbing a hand at
where the ball impacted. "Jeez. You know how to do things like that, huh?
Guess you're not a complete party-clown after all." She gets over the pain,
and makes a quick lunge-step towards Jason, aiming to once again snatch a
hand. This time though, the intent is to twist it so hard sideways that
Jason may well flip over in that direction, along with the usual hurt that
comes with having one's wrist bones cross into one another.

Jason shakes his head, "No. I've done my share of training." Megumi then
rushes him, and his eyes widen slightly. He begins to step back, but
mistimes his step. He is flipped over, but lands barely on his feet. He uses
that to propel himself away, getting some distance between the two of them
and shaking his wrist out.

Megumi doesn't let Jason sit idle for too long. With a yell, she sprints
right after him, since what happened the last time she didn't press an
advantage was...she got hit by a chi blast all of a few seconds ago. She
tries to slam her shoulder into his chest, and use that as a basis for
wrapping her arms around Jason, then if all that works, jumping up a few
feet, with him in tow, and tossing him towards the street once again.

Jason hits the ground with jarring impact, but doesn't quite stay still. He
moves quickly to a crouching position, looking up towards Megumi for a brief
instant, "Thunder!" He waits a moment before launching himself to his feet,
his fist leading the way, right towards Megumi, "Upper! Cut!"
COMBATSYS: Megumi dodges Jason's Thunder Uppercut.
Megumi can't disobey gravity, so it's possible that she'll just descend
right into Jason's noticably charged-up punch. But as she falls, she
incredibly twists herself around so she'll land on her side, curled into a
ball. She does so, and lands quite roughly, but with no real harm done and
it made her a small enough target for the punch to go just short of her.
"Obviously you're not kidding around...I'll be sure to save a piece of the
cake from that party for you, ya earned it." She uncurls and gets up,
snapping a kick at one of Jason's shins.

Jason lands, turning back towards Megumi with a grin, "Thanks." He then
takes a step back as she sends the kick directly towards him, bringing his
leg up to get out of the way of the kick. It doesn't quite work out that
way, and catches him squarely on the shin. Jason grunts, then plants his
foot. He pivots easily, throwing a right punch directly at Megumi.

Megumi keeps the pressure up, stepping just off to the side of Jason's punch
even as he begins it, having actually predicted it succesfully. "That said,
a movie I want to see is coming on soon. I need to end this." She tosses a
simple poking, completely non-harmful 'tap kick' at Jason to try and keep
his reflexes busy, and immediately after that, tries to grab an arm, spin to
the ground, and apply an armbar technique to Jason.

Jason's arm is grabbed quickly, but he keeps up with it, taking a few steps
forward to avoid hitting the ground. He grins slightly, "I hope you set the
VCR timer." With that, he turns directly towards Megumi, kicking straight up
into the air. At the last moment, he releases her arm and sends the kick
directly towards the top of her head.

Megumi quips back, "Nope, it's why I need to hurry." And she tries to shake
loose from being so close to Jason, and reach up to catch his leg. ...Close.
Not quite. It smashes onto her skull, and floors her immediately with a
sharp and loud cry. She's sprawled out on the ground, stunned, the whole
works. She's moving, but it's little more than twitches here and there. That
hurt.
Jason releases the arm, hopping back a few steps and bringing his fists to a guard position. He watches Megumi intently though, waiting for her to get up.

Megumi does take a few seconds, but she is clearly stirring. And after a bit
of that, she suddenly vaults right up to her feet with a real surge of
speed, and tries to grab Jason by his ankles. If she gets a solid hold,
she'll yank him off his feet and begin spinning. And spinning. And spinning
some more, until they're both twirling around very fast, then toss him up a
good two dozen feet up into the air. Goooo bye-bye?

Jason gets suprised by Megumi as she attacks him so quickly. Before he knows
it, he's on his back and spinning into the air. He then feels the release,
"Holy sh...!" The words get cut off as he goes careening back down towards
the ground. At the last second, he tucks and impacts on the ground. The
impact nearly knocks the wind out of him, but the roll sends him to his
feet. As he tries to get his bearings, the dizziness washes over him...
sending him back to the ground. After a moment, he makes it back up to his
feet and charges towards Megumi, leaping into the air and turning into a
tremendous kick! "Lightning... Kick!" SUPER!

Megumi is, noticably, fatigued after that last toss. It was not a casual act
for her. She plants her hands on her knees, trying to catch her wind...and
finds Jason still moving. "You're g--" His diving kick is met with an
attempt to get out of the way. No good, she's too tired to keep moving so
fast. The foot plants itself right on her face, and sends her bowling end
over end, collapsing on her back after a few such rolls. "I thought I had
him for sure..." She slowly gets back up, and shakes her head a few times to
clear her vision. "You're a real pain in the ass, won't ya just stay down?"
Then she charges, going into a series of quick jabs, minor kicks...anything
to just keep doing little 'ticks' of injury to him and try to just plain
overwhelm Jason in a flurry of rapid, if weak, strikes.

Jason laughs, but the wear and tear of a long fight is begining to wear on
him too, "Yeah. I know.." He begins to dance back, dodging one kick,
blocking another, but then getting tagged by a jab. He then pulls his fist
down, charging it up with crackling energy. His eyes widen as Megumi
explodes with a hellacious kick towards his jawline. He shouts, "Lightning
Ball!" just before the attack lands, sending a ball of cracking lightning
directly towards her. He is then spun sideways, hitting the ground with a
dull thud, whereby he does not get up.

Megumi shoves Jason back lamely after a few of her hits land, hoping to just
make him go down. No such luck. He sends the ball at her, and she raises her
arms in front of her in an 'X' shape to try and block it...but is simply too
tired to stand well against it. The Lightning Ball nails her, sends her down
to the ground with an "Ugh!", and that's almost all she wrote. But where
Jason isn't moving, Megumi raises a hand up at the sky to show she's still
mobile, and then staggeringly sits up, then stands. Victory is hers, and a
smile forms despite her fatigue. She cheers a little, very pleased with
herself, and then moves over to offer a hand to Jason. "Oi. You're okay,
right?"
COMBATSYS: Megumi has ended the fight here.
After a moment, Jason lifts his head to look up at Megumi. He then takes her
hand and regains his foot. He then nods slightly, with a quick grin, "Yeah.
Nothing some oxycontin and a bottle of vodka won't cure." He then holds up a
hand quickly, "I'm kidding..."
Megumi breathes in and out some, definitely trying to catch her wind after
all that. "Heh heh. Good. Well, I think we're done here. Good luck in your
future matches, okay?" She lets go of Jason's hand once he's pretty well
standing. Despite being tired, she seems a bit giddy, laughing for whatever
reason, and tossing in a wave to the spectators and cameras.
Jason smiles, "You too." He then turns, smiling to the cameras as well and
raising a hand to wave. He then turns, heading towards the crowd to shake
some hands on his way out.
