Description: "Stop me if you've heard this one before! So, a mouse shows up to a haunted temple in a van full of her friends..." Midnight Channel: Moondyne vs Hisako!
The sky was dark, and getting darker. No birds, no crickets, no nightsong from vermin but rather they just watch in apprehension. This was no longer holy ground, this was no longer safe from wandering spirits.
In the distance, a scraping sound could be heard, something heavy being dragged along dirt and stone. With the moon sickly yellow in color, and the stars themselves giving off little light, it was hard to make out any detail. But even still, it was easy to see that this was a bad place to find oneself.
No nightsong from vermin, well, unfortunately for this place, /that/ was about to change.
Though the temple was ruined, it was not without some interest from a particular strange mouse-like humanoid that had apparently come to pick over what was left here, apparently for... valuables? Treasures? ancient stone tablets or artifacts? Yeah, probably one of those things! Moondyne Mouse appeared in a sudden flash of electricity that leapt up over her body, at first transparent and silhouette, like a ghost, the lightshow subsiding as she grew more distinct and solid, growing into plain sight as apparently her hologram projector didn't play well with all the water...
Looking left and right, she tilted her head, then began walking under a half-collapsed stone archway, sneaker boots pushing aside stone debris and sand. She was remarkably short, at only about 5-foot nothing, more or less the same height as Danny DeVito, though the very large mouse ears probably made her look just a little bit taller.
"Real fixer upper, hmm..." she reached down and took hold of a small chunk of stone statue, holding it up to the light near her visor with inch-long nails.

Hisako 0/-------/-------|======-\-------\0 Moondyne
The words came seemingly from the earth itself, bubbles of blood foaming from the corners of floors and walls. The light of the moon outside seemingly flickered and shuddered as if behind a shutter, and a moment later there was movement from behind a wrecked and torn shoji screen. Bare, wet feet slapping upon a wooden floor rapidly, a morbid pale shape behind a once-pretty kimono and an ocean of tangled black hair emerged with little warning. In her hands a formidable weapon, a bladed naginata that dragged upon the ground until it was swung at the poor danger mouse. Three powerful arcs through the air, the blade slicing through the walls and the ceiling. And if this weapon could do that to solid albeit rotted wood...what could it do to a Moondyne?

The voice is heard distinctly, the forth of blood that bubbles up from the floor and walls is seen next. Of course, Moondyne's sensors have little in the way to account for this kind of energy, as so far it's almost entirely a visual phenomenon. She doesn't know /what/ it is--not seeing heat, or something electricity-based--just what she could see that had depth, width and height.
When the bladed spear is brought flickering towards her, she barely manages to form a pair of solid, holographic plates in front of her which make a horrible sound like glass being cut into as the blade penetrates halfway through.
"Who says!?" Moondyne's reaction to the proclamation is defiant, not apparently afraid. Yet.
"Ohh.. that does not look hygenic... some kind of undead? I can play spooky tricks too, toots!" Moondyne grinned and a trio shadow clones leapt from her form, trying to encircle Hisako and attack her with a huge wind up punch--but which one was the mouse for real?!

Hisako 0/-------/---====|=======\=------\1 Moondyne
Moondyne had come up with a clever bit of misdirection, a way to distract the ghostly white spectre and maybe buy herself some time. And as the holograms circled around, the girl with the grudge continued to step forward slowly toward the thieving mouse. Those glowing pale eyes were transfixed, obsessed. And as the holograms attacked...
Hisako stepped forward, not even glancing in their direction. The first illusion traveled on her right side, fading into nothing. The second hologram rocketed from the opposite direction with an actual attack, a fist smashing across the side of the girl's face that caused the head and jaw to snap sickeningly and spittle to spray out into the air, even as the last illusion passed through her straight on.
When Hisako was close enough, she'd dart forward in a sudden rush of blurred movement as her hand reached out to grab around the throat, or the side of the face...or really, anything. Those fingers were icy cold, carrying with them the chill of the grave and if she found purchase, she'd waste little time in trying to fling poor Moondyne facedown on the ground.

Hisako 0/-------/=======|=======\===----\1 Moondyne
"Oooh--that had to hurt, looks like you feel pain, at least..." Moondyne notes, cocking her head from left to right, even wincing as Hisako seemed to take that nearly Popeye-esque windup punch, apparently breaking her jaw? But it didn't seem to stop her as she was very quick to come right back--Moondyne rolled backwards as she was thrown--what looked like a blue athletic mat even appearing on the ground to condition her fall and roll as she soon flipped back onto her feet, boots sliding against the dirt and sand as she was pushed backwards, arms out to steady herself.
"Fine, you want it, have it--" she tossed the little chunk of statue back at Hisako--just as what looked like a red glowing transparent SPIKE of holographic crystal ERUPTED out of the ground directly beneath and behind the Onryo--trying to impale her through the back!
The jaw seemed to break with that punch, but there didn't appear to be any lingering damage. No, instead the ghostly creature seemed completely fine, and as soon as Moondyne rolls away Hisako is immediately closing distance and shuffling toward her in pursuit. She was absolutely relentless, had a single-minded determination that was entirely focused on the destruction of the mouse creature.
To that end, when Moon threw that distraction, instead of catching the small projectile it instead bounced off of the ghost's forehead, arcing down even as Hisako slowly started to regard it with her eyes. She never saw the resulting attack, but she sure noticed the jagged red glowing 'crystal' stabbing through her back and poking out through her chest. Instantly that mouth opened, and rows of pointed fanged teeth could be seen as she -howled- in a horrible sound. It was as if the wind vortex of a tornado actually started screaming in pain. As if a force of nature was alive. And hated you.
The girl one moment was hanging from a holographic torture device, but in a split second she was gone, vanished and instead a horrible deafening droning of cicadas was heard. A black shadow rushed for poor Moondyne, black ooze leaping from the ground in the shape of glossy black bugs, aiming for her mouth and her throat. If she wasn't fast enough in turning her head away, the feeling deep within her heart, within her soul, would be something beyond mere 'pain'.
But that wasn't all. In the middle of this horror, the ooze would suddenly leave Moondyne's body entirely as the ghost girl suddenly and without warning dropped from the ceiling, swinging that naginata of hers downward in a reckless powerful strike aimed right for the mouse's skull. Not quite as dramatic as the horror that just happened. But extremely effective all the same.

"Oh shit--" Moondyne blinks and looks quite distressed as the black mist-like substance drift smalevolently into her--as if being sucked right into her open mouth, which it was fast enough to accomplish.
"Hnngghh... erghh---auughhh!" Moondyne cringed, teeth bared, showing off the full extent of the ivory teeth and large cartoonish mouse-like buck teeth up front--looking like she was having some kind of seizure, for a moment, when...
There was a sudden explosion, a huge wave of ozone, and it looked like she'd short-circuited somehow from inside, and was now coated in a fine layer of ash, blinking blearily and unnaturally still otherwise. She kind of looked like what happened after someone was given a bomb in a cartoon or video game, with the hair frizzed up and blown back and everything.
"Ow," she exaled a single puff of smoke, looking over just in time for Hisako to bear down on her with another crushing blow--sending her flying against a pillar and impacting with it with a heavy, sickening crash!
"Ooohh... ow, that really... sucked, koff--" Moondyne blinked, looking over at Hisako, before snapping her fingers and a wave of energy was released from her body--which seemed like a field which was then retracted back."Unfortunately I can blow smoke too--" and a giant prismatic stream of energy shot from Moondyne's eyes and visor--bearing right down on Hisako with intense speed! Had she just mimicked the ghost's burst of speed from earlier...?

After dropping down, it seemed Hisako didn't hesitate or deviate from her gameplan at all. Yet again, she shuffled and staggered slowly, closing the distance between the two of them at a glacial pace. But it never stopped, and it never slowed. The end of that bladed staff continuing to drag along the floorboards, the ghost's left hand outstretched as if to grab hold of the thieving mouse.
Fortunately for the thieving mouse, it seemed that her gameplan made her predictable. As that high energy started, Hisako didn't slow. As the blast shot out, she made no attempt to fly or roll or do anything, and instead was caught in that display of power. Nearby walls got blasted to smithereens, and when it was done, all that were left were wisps of smoke and little bits of shoji paper raining down. The ghost appeared to have been vaporized, and all that was left was her naginata. But that was strange, it was wedged in the ground, so that it was sticking up with that blade still gleaming dangerously, about chest-height for the oversized pint-sized catburglar.
From behind the mouse, it seemed a creature was stirring. A single creaking floorboard was her only clue before a pair of white ghostly hands slapped against Moondyne's back, trying to push her with unnatural strength. And if she didn't keep her balance, she was going to go running right into the ghost's weapon.

"Oooh... that was rough... huh?" Moondyne looked down at the weapon that was left behind, though curiously sticking up at an odd angle. The mouse had barely enough time to try and wheel herself around as the hands clapped into her back, pushing herself down into the naginata.
"Hnngg--something... Freudian about this.. I'm sure--" Moon grabbed the half of the spear and tried to keep herself from being impaled on it--crying out as it partially sunk into the chestplate of her armor--trying to elbow Hisako behind her and break her death grip.
"Gonna CRUSH you--" the air whipped up around Moondyne, ending her hair sailing wildly as energy began to concentrate on the ghost's location, gravity starting to push in to try and do just as she said! Smooshing her with the force of gravity!

There without her naginata, Hisako didn't look as outwardly dangerous. But there was still an aura of intimidation about her, even as those glowing eyes peaked out from behind her hair. The air around her grew heavy, literally, and her knees buckled slightly as the floor around her started slowly cratering and imploding from an unseen force and pressure. And from the sound of creaking bones and the sight of oozing black ichor flowing more freely from her existing wounds, it would appear that she was under the same force. But her eyes never wavered, never stopped glaring at her target, and her current object of hatred.
Suddenly she was gone, and the ground almost exploded from a sudden impact now that the ghost was no longer in gravity's way. But that might be cold comfort for Moondyne, as a pale white hand grasps the weapon she had left in the ground, now lifting it even as Hisako stood now in the opposite direction. Her wounds were still there...but they didn't seem to be as severe. No, it seemed that the girl had a renewed vigor as once more, she started shuffling slowly toward her goal.

"Nooo... damnit, don't do that, ugh..." Moondyne is not used to these sort of... turtling, defensive type manuevers, it appears, and being Hisako is a ghost, who knows how much she could heal or regenerate. Didn't she just like... need to absorb more 'plasm' or something to do that?? She wasn't sure. Turning on the heel of her sneaker boots, the mouse lady attempts to kick once--then turning--kicking again at the ghost girl before feinting back away from her, trying to make some distance between the two!

Hisako 0/-------/=======|=======\-------\0 Moondyne
So, Hisako's "strategy" so far had been incredibly straight forward, always attacking. There was no reason to expect anything different when she started shuffling forward with the same lack of speed that could only come from the living dead. Compared to her, Moondyne was, by all accounts, a blur of speed and motion, of agile training and incredible physical gifts. Why wouldn't she be able to kick this ghost in time? The way this fight had been going, the mouse had been catching the ghost off guard every single time. That's what the various hidden go-pros would show, when SNF attempts to edit this into a video later.
As the mouse leapt into the air and threw out her leg for a kick, Hisako would rush forward in a blur of speed while stabbing out with that naginata, aiming right for center mass. There was nothing 'pretty' about this, just a stabbing thrust meant to turn a stomach into a bloodbag very quickly.
"I... GET IT, jeez--no need to keep repeating--frzzzt--yourself..." Moondyne looks like she's twitching and spasming as she is in trouble, and likely about to shut down soon due to all the massive damage! With one parting gesture as she falls however, she brings one arm down heavily on Hisako with a heavy chopping motion--harnessing some of the ghosts mimicked supernatural speed from earlier--before crashing against the stone and ground floor, collapsed.
COMBATSYS: Moondyne can no longer fight.

The chop lands clean, the clubbing blow dropping Hisako to the floor unceremoniously at the same time that Moondyne falls. Unfortunately for the mouse, although she hit with all the force and power of a freight car, it wasn't enough to derail the spirit tracks of the midnight ghost train.
Almost immediately, Hisako was pushing herself up to a standing position, dragging that naginata along the ground as she approached the still, prone form before her. A hand reached outstretched as the form got ever closer to her.
The statue was taken, and with that, Hisako turned and left. Was the mouse going to be ok? Was the mouse going to bleed to death? That wasn't important. Stolen property being returned, that was important.
The ghost was gone.
COMBATSYS: Hisako has ended the fight here.
