Laura - Matsuda Family Time!

[Toggle Names]

Description: Sean Matsuda is just trying to practice his freethrows when he's accosted by his loud, obnoxious sister, Laura. Sibling bickering and a spar ensue.

"... he fakes left, goes right, spin move!"

Sean Matsuda is doing some self-narration as he rushes around invisible defenders. His handle is crazy and he's pulls up short in the paint and launches the basketball up and towards the basket.

"He shoots!"

BRICK! The ball smacks into the backboard and sails off into the distance. Nowhere near going into the actual basket.

"No! It's over! It's all over!" Sean shakes his head at his lack of being able to save the day with a shot. If this were a real game, he probably would be getting dissed by the rest of the team. As it is, though, he's just practicing at the basketball courts not too far from where he lives.

Sean doesn't go after the ball right away, instead, heading for the spot on the side where he's stashed his backpack and his water bottle.

The basketball bounces several times with a rubbery thump, thump thump before it bounces into a roll. It comes to a stop against a bare leg wearing a sandal. The owner of said sandal bends down, scoops up the ball and tosses it up into the air.

"So there you are!" comes to the loud, somewhat annoying voice of Laura Matsuda. "I was wondering where you got off to, Sean!" Laura catches the basketball, then props it up on her hip. Today she's wearing low-cut blue jean shorts and a bright green t-shirt with "BONITA" in big yellow letters. She walks with a distinct sway, running a hand through her hair as she does.

"Practicing for your basketball career again, huh? I thought you were training!"

Sean's in the middle of trying to get a delicious sip of his water when he's accosted by on of his worst nightmares! The spittake that happens sends water all over the place and he almost drops the water bottle in an effort to spin around and spot the user of that voice.

"Laura!" He takes a second to set the bottle down and backs up a few steps because he's not sure if he's got enough room between himself and her. There always needs to be more room because... well, it's Laura.

"Uh! Yeah! I'm training! Just took a little break, that's all!" Sean does happen to be wearing his street clothes, his jean shorts and his yellow hoodie, but there's a backpack with his gi sticking out of it. So he's not lying. Not really.

"I uh... can I have my ball back?" Sean's eyes are wide as he's trying to stay focused on his sister. She's quick and he's not so sure the ball will be given back so easily. Is it ever?!

"Sean!" Laura mirrors her little brother when he calls her out. When he spittakes, she cracks up. "Aww, come on! Are you that scared?" Laura sticks out her tongue at Sean.

"Just a little basketball break?" she asks, half-teasing. When he asks about the ball, Laura looks at it. She looks at it for a long moment, then she looks at Sean.

"Well of course," she says, beaming at her little brother. She is not throwing the ball. "After you spar with me! I wanna see what you've learned in training! C'mon, it'll be fun!"

Sean can't even stop himself from kicking at the ground. It's an immediate stomp that shows his frustration. "Uh, y'know, I'm kind of in a basketball groove right now, Laura! We can spar uh... later! Like in ten years! How's that sound?"

Sean is trying not to let his fear show but he's not exactly capable of doing so. Not when he's around his sister like this. She's always trying to get him to spar! It's unfair! And uncalled for!

"Besides, I'm savin' my moves for the next time I see Ken!" Yeah, that'll work. And, perhaps against his own better judgement, he takes a step towards Laura. "Gimmie my ball back. /Please/." There. He said the magic word.

That's going to work. Right?

"Ten years! I can't wait that long and let my little brother get bad!" Laura looks at the ball, then tosses it up and catches it again. She watches it as it goes up and back down again. "Aww, and you're on about Ken again? What's wrong with Matsuda Jijutsu? Is it just because we don't have online courses?"

Laura looks at Sean for a long moment. "Well since you said please..."

Sean almost frowns but he's not about to let himself get upset about Laura's words. He should be used to them by now. He takes a breath and another couple of steps. Steps he probably shouldn't be taking since they are taking him in the direction of Laura. Being within arm's length of Laura is always a bad thing. Especially for his hair.

"Nothin'! I use it too!" Sean narrows his eyes for just a moment. "I don't need online courses. I'm a beast and you know it." Just a little bit of confidence slips out when his integrity for fighting has shots fired at it.

"Ball." Sean doesn't get too close and just holds his hands up as if he's just going to get the basketball without any trouble. Which is exactly what he's believing will happen this time.

Laura leans forward dangerously. "Uh huuh," she says, "so why don't you show off those killer moves to your big sister?" Laura says. "Come oooon! I'll even try not to zap you too much this time!" Laura is still holding the ball. This does not look promising.

"Oh, I know," Laura stretches the "I" just a little too long there. "How about you spar with me," Laura says, then I help you work on your three-pointers under pressure! You know," Laura weaves back and forth with a bounce. "Point-guard!"

That might've been the last straw. Sean is not about to just stand here and let his sister talk stuff about him /and/ his basketball ability. "I don't need help with my three pointers!" He's not even reaching for the ball because he's been talked into a furious mini-rage by his sister's words and quips.

"Fine. You want some of this?" Sean immediately plants a foot back behind himself and brings his hands up into his normal fighting position. "Then come and get some."

And now it's time for him to add a little sibling insultness!

Burn? Shots Fired? Something?

"Alll right!" Laura says, planting the ball down nearby. She runs her hands through her hair, building up static electricity. She draws her hands away with a spark of electricity between them. ...what was that about not zapping him too much? "That's what I'm talking about!" She snaps into a fighting stance, hands open in front of her and feet spaced evenly apart.

"Big butt?" Laura says, "well that one's just true! What else ya got, Sean?!"

Sean narrows his eyes and clenches his fists even more. He can't believe she's just sparking up like that. He doesn't even like that she can work with electricity like that. It's not even fair. But he's not about to just let her get away with all that. Not when he can finally shut her up for good.

"Whatever, Laura!" Sean's upset his burn didn't actually sting and he motions for her to come at him. "Let's get this over with so you can see just how much better I've gotten!" Wait, does Sean actually /want/ to try and prove himself to his sister?! "You're in for one heck of a surprise, Sis!"

"That's the spirit!" Laura says when Sean's enthusiasm kicks up another notch. She runs her fingers through her hair once more, then lunges forward at Sean. "Let's see what you've got!"

Laura reaches out, grappling at Sean's arm. If she gets it, she slams her hip into Sean to lift him up and then use his arm as leverage to swing him over her shoulder and onto the ground. Is this revenge for the insult earlier?

COMBATSYS: Laura successfully hits Sean with Seoi Throw.

Sean's too busy being hype about getting into a spar with his sister to realize that she's already started this thing up. He's snatched out of his fighting stance by his sister's superior strength and hip-checked into a quick moment of confusion. Next thing he knows, he's up and over, slamming into the ground and grunting with more pain than he probably should be feeling.

After all, this is blacktop. Basketball courts hurt.

Sean's wincing doesn't stop him from trying to grab hold of Laura's arm while he's on the ground. He aims for a little yanking action to see if he can't roll backwards and toss her away. He's going to need some room to breathe and recover from her sudden and brutal attack on him in the first place!

Laura does, at least, seem to know how much punishment Sean can take without getting completely wrecked here. She may be loud, she may be obnoxious, but she would never hurt Sean seriously. Temporary pain though? Yeah, that's not out of bounds.

"Oh man, were you not ready? I thought you were ready!" Laura protests, but then Sean grabs her arm and tries to pull her down. He twists Laura's arm painfully, bringing her to bend her knees to avoid taking the tumble directly onto the pavement.

Instead, she shifts her position and tries to drop onto Sean while still he's still got hold of her arm! If the throw wasn't revenge, this definitely is.

"Look out below!" Laura calls. "Nice throw though, Sean!"

COMBATSYS: Laura successfully hits Sean with Aggressive Strike.

Sean doesn't have time to try and figure out how in the hell she didn't get thrown into next week. That move worked on a highly trained fighter he once fought. But his sister, HIS FREAKIN' SISTER, manages to not fall prey to the move. Granted, she probably knows all about it because of the whole Matsuda Jiu Jitsu training but he's not exactly focused on that right now.

Because she's freaking landing on him!

Sean immediately loses his grip on her and flails as much as possible when Big Butt lands right on him. He may be losing some wind but he's got enough energy to flail wildly. "Get! OFF!" One of those flailing hands becomes a fist and he just tries to punch her until she gets off. He doesn't particularly like being pinned under his big sister but dammit he's going to make her get off him! Punch! Punch!

Laura drops onto Sean with a thump, living up to the nickname Sean gave her. When her brother flails, Laura just holds on to his arm while sitting back on him. "So Sean," Laura says, "what was that insult earlier?" she asks, engaging full bratty older sibling mode. Even if she's supposed to be the older, more mature sibling Laura--does not always play the part well.

But then, Laura gets punched. The awkward angle makes the first punch or two relatively harmless, but a third catches her in the side just right. Laura yelps, letting go of Sean's leg and rolls off him. She clamors back onto her feet, rubbing her side as she does.

"Ow, ow, ow," Laura says. "Lucky shot!" Laura says, giving Sean a moment to get back up. She bobs back and forth bouncily, reassuming her Matsuda Jiujutsu stance. And then, once Sean's had a chance to get back on his feet, Laura restarts the offensive. She steps foward and throws an elbow at the younger Matsuda's stomach! "But how's your guard?"

COMBATSYS: Laura successfully hits Sean with Step Elbow.

Sean hops up to his feet the moment there's no huge weight on top of him. He's in the middle of getting into his fighting stance when Laura's right there and throwing an elbow in his direction. Normally, he'd be ready for something like this but he was too busy trying to get those hands up but Laura is, of course, faster. And that elbow catches him right in the stomach. He groans and even gets lifted off the ground a bit, stepping backwards and holding his gut.

"I hate when you do that!"

Sean puts a little pep into his step and rushes for Laura, leaping at her to tackle her to the ground. Should he even manage to pull this off, he immediately goes for a quick set of punches to her chest before hopping up and away from her.

Time to start showing off!

"Seaaan!" Laura protests as her elbow catches her brother in the stomach. "I know you can block better than that!" The Brazilian bonita backsteps, putting a hand on her hip. "And do what? Which part??"

But before the conversation can continue, Sean barrels into Laura with enough force to knock her onto the ground. She thumps, but as her brother follows up with a flurry of punches, Laura is on the defensive. She blocks with her forearms and elbows, intercepting each blow with a heavy thump of punch against guard.

"Nooot bad, little brother!" Laura interjects happily. Right after she does, however, she bucks--throwing her legs up to try and hook them on Sean's arms. If she succeeds she levers them back down, aiming to pull Sean off her and put him on his back instead.

"But don't forget, ground fighting's my specialty!"

COMBATSYS: Sean dodges Laura's Medium Throw.

Sean is not at all happy with his own performance at this particular moment. Not when Laura's being so happy about his performance. He should be beasting her right now, but instead, he's probably letting the fact that it's his sister into his mind and thus the mistakes he keeps making. He really should be focused. He really should be better.

He really should be focused on being better.

When the tables start to turn on his own tackle, there's a chance that Sean's about to go down. Like his sister just said, ground fighting /is/ her speciality. "I remember, Sis." Sean quips as she reaches for his arm and he slips from within her grasp, drops backwards and rolls back up to his feet. "Which is exactly what I was counting on!"

Sean's words are a lead in to the fact that he's pulled his hands back and there's a crackling chi-energy forming between them. He only pauses long enough to grin as he steps forward and extends his arms, hands pushing forth the bluish energy that's been crafted into a crude fireball shape, in the direction of his sister's Bonita shirt!

COMBATSYS: Laura endures Sean's Hadou Burst.

"Huh?!" Laura says as her legs fail to find purchase on her suddenly slippery brother. When she confirms that he's gone, Laura rolls onto her butt then springs to her feet with a bounce. She stretches, running a hand through her hair while the other hand rests on her hip.

"Now that's more like it!" Laura says, "you gotta be slippery if you wanna win in a grapple! --eh?" There's a fireball charging now. Laura apparently did not notice it a moment ago. She grins widely--excitedly, and surges with electricity.

"Now we're cooking!"

And so, Laura surges forward toward her little brother. The Hadou Burst flashes with bright, bluish chi and Laura...crashes into it? She smashes into the projectile head-on, wincing. Unfortunately for Sean, his big sister's chest takes most of the impact with a wobble as the elder Matsuda stumbles back on back two steps with a groan.

"Owww," Laura says, "that was pretty good. Did you learn that from Ken?" she asks. "I think you might have beat me..."

And then, Laura suddenly surges forward, electricity crackling through her body. She reaches out to grab one of Sean's extended palms, and if she gets it, twist it it around uncomfortably.

"Just kidding!" Laura winks.

With the arm overextended, Laura throws a quick elbow toward Sean's armpit, using that as a staggering hit for her follow-up. She tries to yoink Sean forward, flip them both into the air into a complete turn that puts Sean on the ground--and Laura sitting on his back while holding him in an arm lock for the pin.

COMBATSYS: Laura successfully hits Sean with Sunset Wheel.

Sean's all into it the moment he's released that fireball of hotness. He's practically in the middle of celebrating his victory after he's launched it from his hands. Which is probably not a good thing to be doing when he's around his sister. He's barely even paying attention when things get a little bit more on her side of the mountain.

Sean's attention is yanked by the 'just kidding!' and Sean's not even ready for the elbow that staggers him into the next bit. He doesn't even see that he's been yanked forward until its too late and he's in the air, flipping end over end with Laura. He crashes into the ground and feels the full weight of Laura on top of him, his arm pulled behind him and locked.

"Agh! Ow ow ow!" Sean flails with his one free hand, though, it doesn't last long. It really doesn't. Because the pain (or the embarrassment) is just too much for him to handle and he starts smacking the blacktop with his free hand.

"Okay! Okay! I give!" He slaps the ground harder. "Mercy! Mercy!!"

COMBATSYS: Sean takes no action.

Sean             1/-------/=======|======-\-------\0            Laura

"Aww, come on!" Laura says, shifting her weight. She eases the pressure on her brother's arm just a little, then lets go entirely. "Giving up already? --that fireball thing was really good! Like, whoosh! Ka-pow! I never saw it coming!" Laura looks at her shirt, spotting a fireball hole and putting her thumb to it. "Haha, wow! It even burned a hole! Yikes!"

Laura completely ignores the fact she's still sitting on Sean while talking animatedly. Perhaps it's intentional.

"Sooo," Laura says, "I'm going to give you back your ball, obviously, but you wanna get some lunch first? I'll pay this time!"

Sean is definitely not happy about this turn of events. Even though his arm isn't being yanked on anymore, there's still some serious internal pain going on right now. Pain that exists more in his pride and his soul than actually on his physical person. He lets his head touch the blacktop and just resigns himself to being sat on. Things will never change. Never.

"... I'm." And then he's flailing around with more anger than he probably should have for a kid that just got himself whooped up something special by his own big sister. "NOT HUNGRY!! NOW GET OFF ME!"

There is much pushing and shoving and trying to get himself free as much as possible so that he can get up, get his ball and get the eff away!

Laura keeps sitting. She straightens her hair, electricity still crackling a little, but starting to fade. She's also checking her shirt for other damage while Sean is talking.

"What? Really?" Laura says, incredulous. "Fighting always makes me hungry!" She reaches back and ruffles her little brother's hair. It sparks nad frizzes from the static, making it stand on end. "And besides, you gotta eat if you wanna get big and tough and take down Ken Masters!"

"Anyyyway," Laura slides, nearly sitting on Sean's head in trying to get off of him. She hops up onto her feet. "If you're not coming, I guess that means more for me." Laura winks. "Still expect you home by dinner though. I'll make your favorite...if you'll show me that move again!" Laura mimicks the hadou burst motion. Electricity sparks when she does. "Pow! I won't even zap you back for it!"

And as if expecting Sean to try and slip away, Laura reaches over to try and grab him and pull him over into a tight sidehug. "But anyway! Thanks for the fight, Sean! Enjoy your game!"

Shoving out of the sidehug that he doesn't want, "Ugh. Whatever."

Sean struggles up to his feet and is in the process of trying to figure out how to get his dreads to lay back down while also picking up his basketball. He can't stand that his sister just stays Happy the entire time while he's just over here in both pain and embarrassed as hell. It's just not fair.

Then again, nothing's ever fair in his life. But he doesn't ever let it stop him.

He's in the middle of kicking at the ground and lining up for a random free throw when he realizes that Laura actually /liked/ one of his moves. This causes him to stop, turn and look over in his sister's direction. No doubt she's probably headed off to find some food by now. He dribbles again as if he's trying to just ignore her and it doesn't work. He just can't. Sigh.

"Laura!" Sean snatches up his stuff and takes off in a quick jog to catch up with her. "Wait up!" Sean pours on the speed a little bit to get up alongside her.

"... you really liked that move? I call it the Hadou Burst..."
