Description: You know what is better than being lowered into a pit of insects? Pillow fighting, of course! And thanks to our personal contacts, we are ensuring that we have a nice, safe pillow fight. Not with actual pillows, mind you. Like, there will be fighting, but not with pillows. We have a ship right off the coast of a secret island, and we have graciously allowed two fighters to duke it out around two big piles of pillows on the beach. The lucky fighters? We'll have Munin, and Akiko fight, and that's not too violent! That's not too brutal! Pillows. Pillows! All filmed with the respect and dignity of both mercenary and the wielder of the Dosekiryuu Shindoukan style!
It is late afternoon on the shore of the condemned. The sun is juuuuuust starting to sink below the horizon line, filling the area with bright golden light. The calm clear waves reflect this light making the whole area seem to shimmer. It's a very serene scene all in all.
The pillows stacked on the beach give it that final added touch it may have been missing, because what beach is complete without soft squishy pillows!
Wait... THAT'S a jellyfish......
THOSE are the pillows over there! Off to the side, from the mainland, dark black and violet smoke drifts along the top of the beach before reaching the area between the pillow piles. It then forms up into the shape of Munin, who eyes the pillows as well as the small camera drones drifting around the would-be 'arena'.
"Can't believe they're doing this....." she mutters to herself as she looks between the two piles. With some of the things they've pulled on fighters in the past this seems.... pathetic! Turning to face the sunset, she awaits her opponent, and the battle to come....
Akiko is not part of the Mortal Kombat tournament. She is only making a brief appearance, having been brought in for SNF because pillows are awesome and apparently they're going to fight around them.
Honestly, that's okay by Akiko. She gets to travel for a SNF, and that's kind of nice; the beach is pretty; she actually gets a good match where she can (hopefully) show off the technique and power of Dosekiryuu Shindoukan. And she doesn't have to wear a costume this time.
Akiko steps around one of the piles of pillows, having been waiting behind it (from Munin's point of view). She is wearing a keikogi with the Dosekiryuu Shindoukan crest over her breast; the sleeveless uwagi and the shitabaki that go with it are sturdy-looking, even if it leaves her arms bare.
She gives a bow as soon as she sees her opponent. "Ah, hello," she says, as politely as she can.
When Akiko greets her, Munin turns to look at the gal, her glowing eyes looking her over from head to toe as her mind takes into account vital points, potential weaknesses, and/or hidden weaponry or other indication of hidden dangers.
Her initial conclusion is (Looks like Ryus getup, but.... not. Possibly standard karate or hand-to-hand user. Guess i better expect a lot of strong and grounded punch and kick techniques....) "Greetings...... my opponent i presume. Let me know when you are ready to begin"
Akiko doesn't have a single weapon, concealed or otherwise, on her - unless her hands and feet count. Beyond that, well... she's a fighter, a young one (she looks about fifteen) and short, barely five feet tall. Karate seems possible, or at least some kind of Japanese martial art by the outfit, but really, how hard can she hit?
Munin's about to find out.
"That's right," Akiko agrees. "My name is Akiko Hayashi. I'm part of the Dosekiryuu Shindoukan school. And I'm ready to begin any time you are." She seems ... not all that confident, but trying to hide it, to appear ready to go.
The response Akiko gets is a simple nod as Munin turns to face her "Munin Arshe. Good luck to you". Her tone and expression seem very.... passive, though not disrespectful. If she notices the lack of confidence, she doesn't mention or indicate it.
Assuming a fighting stance, dark mist begins to drift off her form, and her eyes glow a bit brighter "Well then, lets see what you got!"

Akiko bows again, but this time it's a more formalized one, in the opening stages of a fight rather than just to be polite. She raises her arms afterwards, shifting her stance slightly as she watches Munin for a moment. Chi, she guesses, seeing the mist and the glow.
Which could be a problem, if she lets it be one. Akiko decides to take the initiative, stepping forward before ducking low. She sweeps, using her heel to strike at Munin; it's surprisingly powerful but a very basic strategy, nothing fancy. She's keeping it easy to start.

Initially, Munin moves almost as the strike comes in, her timing perfect. Unfortunately, one thing she HADN'T taken into account, the sand they are fighting on, doesn't move like normal flooring. It gives way with her pivital step to counter-attack, and she has to stop a moment to recenter her balance!
This is all it takes, and the heel slams into the side of her head, dazing her a moment as her vision swims with colors....
Akiko presses the attack as soon as she's got it. She rises closer to Munin than she went down, hustling forward.
It's the reeling that gives Akiko her opening. She lunges to grab Munin by the arm. If she fails the grab, Akiko remains standing, slightly off-balance but recovering quickly.
But if she succeeds, Akiko turns it into a backwards roll. Akiko ends up on her back as she tries to heft Munin up and over her, throwing her some distance with the assistance of a foot gently planted in her stomach, pitching her along the beach!
Akiko is stronger than she looks, apparently, though at least part of that was momentum from the backwards fall. Isn't it?

The head blows effects are too strong, and Munins enfeebled attempt to pull back fails. As a result, she is sent airborn by Akiko, landing hard on her back. The extra jostling from the impact sends waves of pain into her already-addled head, and she is shakey as she stands back up.
Not trusting her reflexes in such a state, she attacks from range, throwing off a wave of shadowy chi from one hand to buy herself some time hopefully!

Akiko doesn't handle the projectile well. Inexperience? A lack of aptitude? It's hard to tell - it's not like Munin can focus very well to watch Akiko after that bludgeoning - but it drives into Akiko as she rises, washing over her and forcing her back a step. "Aah!"
Akiko grits her teeth and pushes through it. She charges Munin, trying to catch her hefore she recovers from the dazing assault; she comes in low in a shoulder-check and grunts, trying to literally get Munin onto her shoulders and then over her head!
If Akiko manages it, she flings Munin upward a moment later, leaping after her and somersaulting in the air, driving the heel of her foot directly at Munin's torso in a mighty midair axe kick.

It almost works! Munins head snaps up and locks onto Akiko at the last minute, and her arms come up in a crossblock, absorbing the blow. Seconds after impact, at the point when she judges Akiko as the most likely to be overbalanced, she abruptly vanishes into mist, letting whatever momentum remains take Akiko forwards!
Munin reappears behind the martial artist as fast as she vanished, a blade of chi formed from each hand, with which a pair of swipes are taken at the flank! The first is aimed at the back of her knees, to try to hinder Akikos ability to manuever. The second is aimed at the small of her back, to hopefully make balance painful!

Akiko stumbles through Munin's disappearing act, landing a little awkwardly when she doesn't touch Munin in the way she expected. Having your platform vanish on you isn't great!
Munin is faster than her, but Akiko's no slouch. She whirls, mostly avoiding the blow to her legs but, sadly, not the one that was aimed at her back. That it hits her in the side doesn't make it any less painful, or any less effective.
Akiko lets out a rather startled yelp. So fast! she thinks, before steeling herself. That just means she has to be faster, doesn't it?
Akiko goes for a grapple again, taking a confident step despite the pain in her flank; she goes for an extended grapple this time, slipping behind Munin and trying to get her in an extended headlock!

It has been noticed that Akiko goes for the grapples, and Munin begins planning for such....
It pays off in spades.
She feints not being fast enough to stop Akiko from slipping behind, and when the grappler martial artist goes for the grab, her arms go right through Munins neck! The illusion disperses, revealing the REAL Munin crouching low beneath where Akikos arms closed, a chi-lance blazing from her hand! She jabs upwards, aiming a strike underneath Akikos chin, aiming to run the 'edge' of the attack along the side of the girls face rather than stab her in the neck!
She doesn't want to KILL Akiko, just end her ability to fight, after all!
In some ways, Munin lucked out. Though Akiko is good at throwing people, she doesn't bother to /hold/ the grapple very often, preferring to slam people around. But Munin read her right, and Akiko paid for it.
Her hands close on nothing, and Akiko looks momentarily baffled. She looks left, right - and down, right at Munin. But too late! Her eyes widen as she tries to backpedal.
The chi blade pierces alongside Akiko's cheek. It hurts. It hurts a lot! She bites back the yell she wants to make. She needs to look good, to show her family she can stand on her own two feet, even if she can't use the style. Her father is going to call her useless again, a failure. Her eyes water for a moment in pain or distress. But it galvanizes Akiko. She is not going to lose like this!
Akiko yells, but it's not in pain but determination. She tries to grab Munin one last time, hooking her arms and trying to heft her above her head, throwing her upwards. This part seems familiar, as does Akiko's follow-up if she manages it, tearing into the air and delivering a mighty axe-kick downward!
But this time it's not the end.
Akiko descends. She descends /fast/, driving both her feet downward in a mighty stomp. A stomp so powerful, in fact, that sand is blasted in all directions, and if she was closer to one of the piles of pillows she might have knocked it over; a stomp that leaves a crater in the beach, though only of sand and not of stone.
Also, she's tried to land on Munin. So there's that. "HaaaaAAAAAAH!"

Being in a crouch, Munin is unable to evade fast enough to avoid the grab. Shadowy chi thickens along her body as she tries unsuccessfully to bring her guard up, helping to lesson what could otherwise be a knockout strike!
One axe kick and stomp later, and Munin is hurting, with Akiko atop her. However, she isn't out yet! Her eyes glow brightly, and the shadows in the crater-like impression in the sand, cause by the now almost-set sun, deepen. Seconds later spikes of solid shadowy chi spear out from these areas of the ground, aiming at strike akiko from several directions and in several places!

Or maybe Akiko is going to lose like this.
She delivered a mighty blow to Munin, that's for certain, but the downside with maneuvers like that is that they leave you open. Akiko isn't fantastic at defending herself after tricks like that, and the spikes of chi strike before she can clear away from her impact zone.
She groans, because she can feel the strength leeching out of her. But if she can manage - just one more thing -
Akiko makes a last-ditch sudden grab at Munin. She tries to simply grab her by the arm and slam her into the ground, once, twice - but her strength fails her, and she collapses to one knee with a groan, then the rest of the way to faceplant in the sand.
That's all she can manage. It's just a question of whether Munin can get up, too.

With Akiko already positioned on top of her, Munin is unable to evade, in part due to the damage she has already taken. She too goes down for the count despite Akikos weakened state.
On the monitors, the match is declared a DKO, and the fans cheer! Meanwhile, the medteams standing by move in to aid the downed fighters.
